The rivalry in this fable is nearly as old as time itself. And will probably continue until the final page of its last chapter.
This is the story of two opposing elemental forces. One is fire - a rekindling destructive elemental force. The other is the eternal everlasting forest and all its renewing plant life. They exist in precarious equilibrium - one cannot exist without the other, and the other shall overpopulate the earth if left unchecked.
One is hot-headed and does things with careless abandon. Like a phoenix it rises and falls, revives and dies in a continuous cycle. In the brief time it may exist, its destructive forces are readily felt by all affected for many years afterwards. It feeds off its rival like a parasite, growing larger in size exponentially until there is no more to consume. At this point it dies, its spirit lying in wait until the time when it can be reborn and once again continue it's destruction again.
The other is archaic and wise, and prevails in the only way it knows how to – by slowly spreading and growing across the face of the earth. In doing so, it provides food for countless species of animals, and would appear to be a welcome force in this life. But if kept unchecked, it will grow absolutely everywhere and anywhere it can.
And thus, it begins again.
