By the time Mare reached the dining hall, most of the other guests had arrived. There were a decent number of others, though not enough to seem completely overwhelming. Already, some had split off and grouped up, talking at tables or others had chosen spots in corners by themselves, sending off auras that practically screamed 'leave me alone.'

Scattered here and there were people that looked like they actually worked here, answering questions and shuffling about busily.

"If everyone could get settled down, we'll hurry and get this over with as soon as possible!" The voice rang out over the room and it was difficult to determine exactly where it had come from.

Mare looked about at the others in the hall then finds her own place to settle down. She watched some of the people moving around doing things. Funny how many people there were on this trip. She wondered how many of them would change and be more open to other. Or if they were all here for the same reason as her. Maybe they had other problems?

When someone starting to speak she started to look around for where it was coming from. It was always a good thing to know who was speaking.

A mousey-looking man was waving his arms around to try and create some semblance of peace and order...and failing miserably. He looked like he spent far more time behind a desk harassed by computers and paperwork than out in the sun on a cruise ship. Obviously, he must be the one in charge.

"Please! I'll only need a moment or two of your time, then you'll be free to enjoy dinner and the rest of your evening to yourselves!"

Well, that seemed to help little and it still took some time before everyone quieted down enough for the man to be heard at all without shouting.

"Thank you. I'd like to welcome you all to our lovely ship. You're all in for quite an experience aboard this vessel."

The welcome speech continued much like any other, full of promises of fun and sun and all those other great rhyming words. While a few faces seemed attentive, a majority of the crowd seemed closer to nodding off, though a few were making faces.

"Without further ado," the speaker drawled, ignoring the loud comments about how it was about time, "We'll prepare for dinner. If you'll all wait here just a moment longer, I'll check to make sure our chefs have everything ready before moving you all to the dining hall."

The speaker stepped down and headed towards the door, preceded by a number of other ship staff members who had already slipped out of the room. As they disappeared and the door shut behind them all, the crowd of young people would never notice the soft hiss that was the only sign of the sleeping gas now being pumped into the room through the air vents...

Mare half heard what the man was going on about. She was one of those who were nodding off because it didn't hold her interest at all. She had pulled out a piece of candy from her pocket and started eating it. She really was not hungry for dinner or anything. She would most likely grab a little and that would be all.

When the man started off towards the door she saw that none of the staff of the ship were in the room as well. Maybe they all went to set everything up. Looking around carefully she made sure that there were really no staff left. Getting up and started to head to the nearest door to see if she could find a staff member. Suddenly her body left heavy and she fell to the ground. Fighting to keep her eyes open she put her hand over mouth and nose. It did little to help her as she fell asleep.

As soon as the last of the young people had hit the floor unconscious, the doors opened again for a flood of men in dark clothes wearing gas masks. The odorless gas began being pumped out of the room, but they were taking no chances with the task at hand. The men spread out across the room, weaving between the unconscious bodies with precision and purpose, seemingly seeking out specific targets.

"You're sure they'll be alright?"

"Nothing for you to worry about. The gas is harmless," one of the men shot back to the worried cruise director with a chuckle.

"That's not what I...I mean...what will I say to them when they wake up? How do I explain what happened?" he stuttered after his previous question was waved away dismissively.

"Now THAT....is your problem to worry about." And with that, the man slipped away to rejoin the others, murmuring an order here and there as he passed.

"The operation is a success. Prepare the men to withdraw momentarily," he barked out the order, pausing mid-turn and pointing to the nearest operative. "Grab this one too while you're at it!" He pointed to Mare's unconscious form in passing. The more they brought in, the more they got paid. It was a pretty sweet deal in all honesty. Not bad for a single night's work either.

Meanwhile, their unfortunate victims would awake a long time afterword, probably with a throbbing headache, on a lonely little island far from the mainland...and any hope of rescue...

Mare's body hurt and she didn't know why. Without opening her eyes she slowly moved each part of her body making sure everything worked. Because she was doing it slowly it should appears like she was still sleeping. Knowing that everything was fine she takes a few moment to think over the last thing she remembered.

Lots of teens, a boat. Her mind didn't want to put everything together. Sighing to herself she tries harder. After a little more time she remembered being in a large dining room and for some reason falling asleep. She frowned a little to herself at that thought.

Shifting a little where she was she paused and noticed the air smelt different then it did on the boat. Frowning again she couldn't feel the boat moving or anything. She should still be on the boat right? Slowly opening her eyes she almost gasps but stops herself. This was for sure not the boat or anywhere she knew.

Closing her eyes quickly because the light hurt her eyes and she realized she had a killer headache.

Capping a syringe and slipping it discretely into his pocket, Dr. Hakan found himself thankful once more that his timing on these sorts of things was impeccable as always. Incredible. Yes, he was, wasn't he?

Turning with a smile and a soft chuckle, the doctor headed for the chair seated next to the young female's bedside. "Be careful there. I imagine you're not feeling up to leaping out of bed just yet. Judging from the account I was given, you probably have a pretty bad headache as well. Heard you hit the floor pretty badly. I'll have something sent over soon to dull the pain, if you'd like?"

Taking the seat, Dr. Hakan put on the air of the caring doctor. It was an act he'd perfected through use. An act that seemed almost effortless by this point.

"I'm sorry, we haven't been properly introduced. I'm Dr. Hakan. Apparently, you collapsed on your cruise ship. The staff was worried about you and unsure of what else to do, so they brought you here for better care than they could possibly give on the ship. We'll take good care of you here and you'll be back on your feet again before you know it. Before that though, if there's anything you need, feel free to use the intercom right there on the wall to ask for it." He smiled again, gesturing lightly towards a small speaker set in the wall near the bed.

He was pushing a lot of information on the girl at once and he knew it, but while he wanted to meet his subjects at least once face-to-face, at the same time he disliked this whole....'pleasantry' act. In fact, the ones where he didn't have to hide his malicious intentions were almost...exciting.

Still, it was good to have a more cooperative subject from time to time. At least...cooperative initially.

Hearing the voice of Dr. Hakan she didn't even open her eyes. To be honest she didn't like Doctors at all. They always seemed to know the best for everything even when they really didn't.

Lifting an arm to her head and placing it over her eyes. She tired to get past the pain of her body and head. "No I don't need anything to dull the pain." Her words sounded a little weak. "I'm sure the pain will pass sometime soon." She opened her eyes now under the shade of her arm slowly.

Taking a deep breath she shifts a little bit and puts on a smile. Something tugged at her mind and she just had to bring it up. "Sorry if this sounds a little strange, but I'm not the only one that fainted. Everyone else did also. Well all the other teens my age." She almost focused a laugh. "Funny thing is there was no crew members about when it happened."

Lifting her arm a bit so she could see the man she was talking to she didn't look to happy. That might be because of the pain going through her body or maybe another reason.

Sighing and letting her arm fall back down she mumbles. "Can I get some water?" She really hated having to deal with people and wished this all would just get over quickly. The trip her parents had sent her on and the interacting with other people.

Shifting she removes her arm from her eyes and looks about. "Where is my bag?" She pushed herself up a little so she could look around more and ignored the screaming of her body.

"That is...rather distressing news," Dr. Hakan commented, shaking his head with concern. "I don't know anything yet, but they could have been sent to the other doctors. I was sent straight here as soon as I clocked in on duty today. I'll have to find out just what's going on around here."

His tone, frown, gestures were all so genuine. It was so easy to feign by now, even while improvising.

"Just water? If that's all you want, then that's fine. You can have juice or soda though if you feel up to it. Whatever you want, I'll have it sent from the cafeteria. Oh, and your bag is right there, under the bed. The ship staff brought it with you, thinking you'd probably want it. That was thoughtful of them," he commented, seeming to muse as he finished mindlessly shifting chairs into place and whatnot.

"Anything else I can help you with, dear, before I go have that drink sent down?"

I hope not. I've got better things to do than stand around here all day.

Shifting to appear at where her bag was she let out a sigh and nodded glad it was there. She then sat back to look over the man speaking to her. She was not sure why but she disliked him more then any other doctor she had even been with. Shifting and grabbing her bag she started to go through it to see if everything was there. "Well I also want some candy." She put on a smile and pulled out a piece of candy she already had. "This kind if you have it." She popped the candy into her mouth.

Still she watched him now ignoring the headache that she had. "Dr. Hakan right?" She asked carefully. "I don't like you." She stated with a smile. "Just thought you should know that." She had her own reason for disliking the doctor but it was also something else, but she just thought it was her headache messing with her.

"Oh another thing that would help me is a pokemon. Back home I worked with pokemon so I feel better around them." She was not sure where she was going with this but also didn't care. "So if I'm going to be here for a while... Maybe I could help out? Repaying for helping me?" She was trying to be nice now.

Dr. Hakan raised an eyebrow at the girl, struggling to keep his natural reaction in check. She listed demands, then smarted off, then more demands? Cheeky little brat...

"Well, you're a blunt one, aren't you?" he quipped, only sounding half-kidding. The truth was, he thought she could stand to learn some manners. Smart-mouthed, self-centered kids these days...

"In that case, I'll be leaving. I'm sure that will please you, given your latest revelation. I'll head to the kitchens to have a drink sent up, then deal with your other requests," he quipped shortly, gathering his things to leave, personally quite eager to do so.

Mare couldn't hold back a smile. "Who knows maybe you can change my mind about doctors." She laughed and started going through her bag. Her head still hurt but she was trying her best to push the pain away.

Making sure everything that was there before was still there she smiled again. "Oh and a question. When do you think I will be able head home?" She wanted to really get out of this place as fast as she could.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 04, 2008 1:38 pm

Doubt it.

"That all depends on your recovery rate. We'll see how you do, then you can leave when we're sure you're completely healthy and back to normal again."

Like she would be again after this...

The doctor shrugged casually, heading for the door. "I'll have those requests taken care of. Someone should be up with something to drink in just a few minutes." With that, he was gone before she could come up with something else ridiculous to demand.

Obnoxious, bratty kids...

Mare watched him go and sighed before shift around and going through her bag again looking for something. Finding a piece of candy she eats it and watches the door thinking. Shifting again she gets up and starts to poke around the room.

With her head still hurting she wanders back to her bed and sits down almost with a huff. Shifting tucking her legs under her she played with the candy warper. She didn't think this place for some reason, but she couldn't put her finger on why.
