My boyfriend is in the Marines. He's a reserve, and his job is tech-related, which means he'll be able to do his Marines job at Great Lakes Naval base, which isn't far from where we live. Now I know he's not gone as long as some men are...he was gone three months for boot camp, and I got to see him for ten days (which, those ten days were AMAZING and one thing, if you don't have sex for three months, sex is AMAZING when he comes back home..) but the time he was home, we talked about stuff and he was like, man, I would be so happy if you got pregnant.
Now, we've been through a lot and been together 2yrs and 2 months, and we know that if we got pregnant we'd probably most likely abort right now. Luckily, we haven't had a pregnancy scare yet because we use condoms or birth control religiously but...it was weird because before he went to boot camp, he was like, if you got pregnant I feel like my life would be ruined and I feel the same way...we both want to be married and have a few years with each other before bringing a child into the mix. I just think it's funny that all of a sudden he wants to have a baby. Does that come as a side effect of being in the military or what? Lol.

Well being in the Military, there is some danger involved. Moreso if he were simply a civilian. I think that maybe the whole 'carrying on their seed' thing has a lot to do with it. That, and you never know if you'll get the chance later. Like, I doubt that he would want to leave you, if he had to, alone.

I'll argue no. It's irrelevant to the actual military, probably other circumstances. Hell, the Marines unofficial stance is "If we wanted you to have a family, we'd issue it." In fact, with infidelity being so prevelant in the military, most of the people like to enjoy the freedom of it all.
I'm more prone to say it's the seperation. Before my husband was deployed, we had talked about a second child, but it hit me REALLY bad when he was gone.
A little side note of information, the military will not pay for abortions, in case anyone was curious.

Thanks for your opinions...I was thinking it was probably the separation too. ^_^ It was just shocking that he all of a sudden wanted a child. >_< And yes, I know the military doesn't pay for abortions..they DO pay for either having the child or using birth control. I use birth control already religiously for not wanting to have to put my body through an abortion.
Thanks again for your input.

All the time, you hear about people dying in the war. Perhaps he wants to experience having a child, just in case he dies and never gets that chance. My Uncle was like that.
