Deep in the basement of the Chapel of Light, a small, humble doorway stands. Many are unaware of where that little wooden door leads. But for those curious adventurers, they will discover the entryway to a crypt hidden beneath the Chapel.
This crypt has been left untouched, even through all of the massive renovations to the City. The faerie construction workers even left the doorway as it was, so that little wooden door has seen better days.
Upon entering the doorway, you will find yourself in a dark hallway, with only a speck of light at the end. There's an overwhelming feeling of sadness, yet hope, filling the air of this hallway. Despite the age, and isolation, it does not smell of old air and there's no cobwebs cluttering up the corners.
When you enter the room, the source of the light, you will see pure alabaster marble lines the walls of the Hall of Lost Souls. Old engravings cover the walls, showing scenes of times long past, memories that have long faded into oblivion. A single seat lays in the middle of the room, and upon it, a single sorrowful looking man. His eyes a full of a deep sadness, in his hands a chisel and a hammer, he is the Sculptor of the Lost, and his purpose is to carve the statues of those Pae’il that have become lost. Statues of Pae’il stand on small pedestals, carved by the Sculptor of the Lost, housing the souls of those Pae’il that have been lost. Shorter pedestals sit before the Statues, places for those relatives of the lost Pae’il to leave offerings to the departed. Beside these pedestals are many candles, and small tapers to light them with, for those that have passed on. A blanket of sadness covers the area, but intertwined with this heavy feeling of sorrow is a strong seed of hope, pulsing with great power, just waiting to burst forth into bloom.

Welcome to the Hall of Lost Souls
:[ Purpose ]:This is the place lost (inactive) Pae'il go to rest. While Pae'il do not die, their souls do come here to rest within a stone statue of their likeness. Pae'il are 'reborn' from the statues when their players/owners come to reactivate them, or they get a new player/owner. The statue gives their families a place to mourn, or a place to visit their lost loved-one. It also gives them hope, that one day their lost loved one will break free of their stone statue.
:[ Which Pae'il Become Stone Statues? ]:Pae'il that have gone inactive for one FULL year.Inactivity is defined as no RP and no journal updates within a year. Posting random emotes in the main thread does NOT count as activity. If you look for RP and fail, you should make an RP Request thread in the RP Request subforum. I will look there to see if effort has been made. Also, its NOT hard to type 2 sentences in a journal to let me know what your pae has been up to. Haitus notices only count towards keeping ownership of your pae. If you go on Haitus for a year, when you come back, you can RP your pae breaking out of the statue. It will give you a chance to start 'fresh' in case things were forgotten. SPECIAL EXCEPTIONS: A cosplay Pae'il or special edition (one-stage) Pae'il are exempt from most RP requirements. They will never NEED to be RP'd, will never lose their cannon powers, and will never actually turn into a statue. I understand that many of these Pae'il are purchased for the art, not the RP. They CAN be active, but are not required to be.
:[ Rules For Reactivating ]:Simply just RP your Pae'il awakening from the statue. A prompt will be supplied if you are the new owner, otherwise, you can just return your Pae'il to the life they had before. Keep in mind: A reawoken Pae'il is POWERLESS. They will need to roll a new power, or you will need to work with Antidia to restore their old power, provided the old power hasn't been given away.

It was quiet in the hall of lost souls, perhaps quieter than silence. No wind whispered through the stone figures, no light flickered across the floor and no voices drifted in on the breeze. It was a place of sorrow, and the hall seemed to know this. Perfect, cold silence. But wait.. there! The slightest noise crept into audible range. It sounded like nothing.. or perhaps.. like breathing? But that is impossible - there were no living creatures in these hallowed halls. There! Again; a slight rasp of breath, slow and unsteady but there. The noise seemed to originate from one corner of the hall, where two tall statues stood side by side. One, a robed elder with flowing hair -golden, although you could not see that- with a kindly, happy look upon her beautiful face. Even in stone you could almost feel the warmth of her character. This was the statue of the lost Elder Ceri. The other statue, no less beautiful, depicted another robed elder. She seemed darker, somehow, even though their skin and clothes were entirely stone. Her eyes were closed, her face stuck in an expressin of serentiy. She was Myze, Pae'il elder of the night. The breathing grew louder. Stronger, realer. Colour, like a lost friend, crept slowly up through the statue, as though it was returning from within it. Clothes grew richer, skin became peach and hair slowly regained it's former glory. It was only when all the colour had returned, when the statues looked like frozen life, did the breathing stop. Hhhhhhuuuu Both statues lurched forwards, stiff until they hit the ground upon which they seemed to shatter. In their places were two figures, perfect twins to the statues. Only these figures were alive. Ceri and Myze had returned.

It was just as the older mellon had seen in his dream - the Chapel of Light; the small, forgotten, wooden door found its basement. He had had this dream repeatedly for some time now, but his search had only recently resulted in some new leads. Years had passed since Liam had last seen his Pae charge, Kymo, for he had assumed that as a mother and then an Elder, she would finally grow weary of his hovering about her and doing what he could to look out for her when she was grown enough to do so for herself.
Kymo herself had never asked Liam to leave, but after he had explained his feelings to her and all was said and done, he just felt there was no reason for him to be around anymore. He had simply left without a word one night. After all, she was an Elder Pae'il with a husband and two children and he was a lovesick, overprotective mellon guardian. He had figured it was time to let go. It would have been better for the both of them, he'd thought, since his protectiveness was likely only a bother to her and he himself found it hard to be by her side while still in love.
It had been five years since Liam had last seen the Pae - five years since she had completed her quest to become an Elder. He missed her with all his heart and he realized that no matter how far he had tried to keep away from her and no matter how long he kept his distance, his heartache wouldn't go away. Whether it was the will of the island deities or just his deep affection for his charge, Liam couldn't leave his Pae for very long. After a year of trying to stay away, he eventually returned to her home - a seaside cave - only to find it neglected and seemingly abandoned. That was when his new quest had started, along with the same dream night after night.
Liam knew that Kymo's daughter, Aislinn, had once (if not presently) had some gift pertaining to dreams and nightmares. Though unable to find any of Kymo's Pae family, Liam had the feeling that the dream might have been the work of Aislinn, if not the island deities who seemed to urge him to return to his Pae's side. Whatever the case, many of the long, lonely, last five years had been spent searching for his Kymo in vain - until now.
By some marvelous stroke of luck or an intervention of fate, the mellon had come across an angel pae by the name of Takeko who had mentioned having a relation to the Elder of Flora, Ivy. Ivy had been one of the four elemental pae'il - the same four elementals that included Kymo, who represented water. Like Ivy, Kymo had reached her Elder stage of enlightenment. Having been reminded of this, Liam hurried to Telrunya City, which had been much less populated the last time he had visited. After asking a few times for directions and describing the place in his dream, he finally came across the Chapel of Light and hurried down to its basement.
Liam could hardly breathe. He felt his heart beat twice as fast as he, with some effort, pulled open the small door and flew into the dark hallway with only his own glow to guide him. But no, wait - there it was! The speck of light at the end. The sight of it overwhelmed the little mellon with sorrow, tears coming to his weary eyes. Yet he smiled, for there welled up within him a surge of hope to blend with that sadness. How could he have ever left Kymo's side...? She had to be here. She just had to be. It had been in his dream, hadn't it?
Ignoring the peculiar lack of cobwebs or stale air, the sea green mellon surged toward the light, moving so fast that he was only a blur of luminescence trailing a ghostly green tail like a comet. He knew what he would find at the end. When he reached the pinprick of light, he did not waste time admiring the alabaster marble walls, nor the engravings that decorated their surfaces. They were memories, melancholy and nostalgic, but Liam was determined only to focus on the present. He had dwelt far too long on 'what ifs' and 'what had beens'. He wasn't about to waste any more time brooding over the past.
He spared a glance at the Sculptor of the Lost who seated himself in the center of the room, but the man seemed lost in his own thoughts. Thus Liam pressed on, scanning the sculpted Statues of Pae'il with an anxious gaze until at last it alighted upon a familiar face of stone. The mellon threw himself at the feet of the winged Elder, filled with dispair. His dreams had never gone farther than this. Sometimes he would dream that he spent what felt like months or even years just staying by the statue, unsure of what to do. At least until his dream ended and he woke.
This time, though, it was no dream. It was truly a dead end, and there was no waking up from it. He had come all this way, spent so much time searching, and for what? To sit at a Statue that had the likeness of his beloved Kymo? Liam sunk to his knees and let the tears he'd felt at the corner of his eyes before run freely now.
He didn't know how long he remained like that; it might have been a few seconds or days, but he eventually drifted off to sleep without even realizing. Again he dreamed, but this time it was different.
"Liam...Liam, you're such a good mellon. So sweet and kind...even after all this time, you're still so loyal. My dearest friend...don't cry, please..."
Just her voice...he had almost forgotten it. He smiled softly in his sleep as the image of her bubbly, bright countenance beamed at him and held out her arms. He was about to reach for her, when a startling sound jerked him out of his sleep. The ground was shaking about him. He blinked sleepily, willing his wings to carry him up off the trembling floor.
Oh no, what have I done? he berated himself mentally as he realized what was quaking was not the ground, but Kymo's Statue. He had fallen asleep at her feet and now she was crumbling? How could he have caused it to break so easily?! He shut his eyes and curled into a ball mid-air, unable to bear watching the stone figure fall.
It was only when the stones had settled that a quiet coughing drew Liam's attention. He slowly allowed himself to peer through debris, his wings stirring up the clouds of dust and stone particles as he headed toward the source. It was weak coughing, but it was distinct, and as the dust itself settled, he gasped in shock and surprise. There lay Kymo, on her hands and knees, looking drowsy as if she had woken from a long sleep herself. She coughed a little more, sitting up and politely covering her mouth before blinking and rubbing the remaining dust from her eyes. Her lips parted and she spoke a single, stammered word. "L-liam...?"
The voice was hoarse, as if it hadn't been used in a long time, but it made no difference to the mellon. He would have known his pae's words anywhere. Too happy and speechless to express his joy, Liam launched himself at Kymo, who, despite her sleepy-seeming state, hugged him back and smiled lovingly as she held him close to her face.
"Oh, Liam..." she murmured, her hoarse voice no louder than a whisper. Still, the mellon was close enough to hear, and it warmed his heart like he never thought it would be again. "Liam, thank you. I wouldn't have broken free without you."

A few notes, and I do apologize that the information was not better organized. We were in the midst of updating everything when life exploded and all staff went on unexpected Haitus for the Summer. Kymo can come back, however, due to changes with Elders and metaplot advancements, she can't come back as an Elder, but she will emerge as an Adult. She'll be re-added to the owner's list with her Adult art and cert. More information on Elder changes can be found here: Elder Information ThreadAnd there are various bits of information regarding the Elder changes in the Shop Owner's Diary. Upon reading your awakening RP, I tried to find the information so I could link it to you, but it was scattered, so I know it was not easy to not find or be aware of, so there is not fault there. The purpose of my posting this is to merely inform you of the changes, not to chastise. I updated the Elder Info thread with the information I could find so you wouldn't have to search for it. We did not anticipate another Elder player would return, so we did not make updating this thread a priority. Currently, Telrunya City (the floating island which is on top of the catacombs) is closed off to outsiders, so if Kymo awakened, she'd encounter a boot camp like setting in the castle grounds above the catacombs. Teenage Angels and Demons are being trained as knights to represent and lead the Angels and Demons as the Light Faction. It is up to you to have her escape or encounter one of the trainees (squires), teachers or other faerie population of the City. She also would have some memory loss of things that happened while she was an Elder due to the event that caused the reversal in stage. She does not know what exactly happened, but all Elders were "called away" to fight something to protect the island. If you have questions, feel free to ask in-thread, or PM someone from staff for clarification. A lot of things have changed in the shop over the years, and our focus has shifted to meta-plot advance from being just a run-of-the-mill pet shop. EDIT: here is a link to Alatariel Rakamash (Currently Shicala)'s reawakening of her four elders, just to give an example of what happened when an Elder player returned. http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=16249657 There was some memory loss because there IS a cannon reason why they revert back to older stages. They are 'reborn' sort of. The reason will be revealed in our climax to the metaplot. You can contact Ala if you want to compare.

Thank you, Dia. I'll do what I can to get caught up when I have the chance. It's interesting to me that both angels and demons are being recruited for the Order of Light. It leaves one to wonder who they're training to go against.
This new development actually seems more meta-plotish to me than how this shop was when I joined it. Back then it seemed more like a run-of-the-mill pet shop.
Also...you say there are three active Elders, but that they are not being rp'ed. Doesn't that mean they aren't active?

We are striving to create a rich metaplot and there are a lot of things happening, both on the Isle and behind the scenes. There's a lot of exciting stuff going on already, and so much more in store! Very exciting, and it's a good time to get in before we amp it up again. wink The last remaining Elders' players have been around until recently. As stated by the thread, these Elders lose their powers after six months of inactivity, but they are still considered 'active' Elders, in that they ARE still Elders. At least until a year passes with no activity at all. Then they are considered 'inactive.' There's a lot of info about our plot to read, and it's a lot to take in at once, but it's worth it, promise. If you have any questions, like Dia said, feel free to ask in the thread at any time, or PM a staff member. 3nodding
