Quest is really, really easy, esp. now that SE allows 3 ppl to enter the dragon BCNM at the same time. It was a breeze for me, at least. We had a RNG(who forgot to bring any Lv40 bow/xbow orz), a BLM and me a RDM. Bind+Gravity, then Water2+Stone2+Water2, cut scene, then nuke again and dragon no more. I went in almost naked except the solid wand and 2 morion earrings.
As for requirement, I think it needs you to be Rank 4 or Rank 5. And the whole quest does not need any oil/powder.

i got my NPC and its really worth it for low levels but the amount of time that the NPC stays out sux. I don't know if its amount of exp gained or amount of time not sure but its not too long. I did a few fights and time was up.

the more you call it out, the better it gets
after you call it out 3 times, it comes out with a different armor on
and if you go to a R point after you call it 3 times
you can change its job to attacker or healer, or leave it at shield

man it was pretty easy for the ghelsba fight my party had a bard a summoner and a blm(me) all we did was let the summoner use his 2 hour and we were over 3/4 done lol
cutscene came and we all attacked at once it was so easy!if we did that when we came in our time would be like 1 min(too bad we waited for buffs etc) and it would be a high score.
my tarutaru npc names is hard to say... i have to look up the name lol

i wanna npc ;_;
im only lvl 25 smn atm though and i got laods to do b4 i lvl up again
get rank 4 with whm
get rse boots
get ifrit
get ramuh
then kill a nm in ordelles cave for dolphin staff ><
THEN lvl till sum1 wants to help me get a NPC xd

My NPC dinged 31 today while I was messing around in Purgonorgo Island with my 71 red mage. They gain xp seperately from you, so it doesn't really matter if you are higher level than they are.
I forgot to go see if he got new armor! *logs in to do so now*

I wanna know can people help u if they done the quest already?
sum1 said that only people who have the quest active can fight the dragon
which is a problem coz i need help killing it being a whm
