Ksi holds the bokutou with one hand as he brings it up to block the first blow. He catches her sword about one-third of the way up the blade, and then lets hers slide off for her next strike. As she steps around so does he, and then he swings his sword to meet hers again, catching it the same way as the tip of the blade points upward this time.
“You see?”
He hops back.
“Notice which part of the sword I block with, that’s important. Make sure to try striking at me from some new angles. Keep swinging at me until the motions begin to feel a bit more natural.”

*Synge stands ready after Ksi blocks her first two blows and tries to take in what he is saying. She nods in understanding as she notes which part of the sword he blocked with, but gets a confused look on her face when he mentions different angles. Not wanting to stop to ask questions she decides to practice and get answers at the same time. She swings her sword and moves her feet in the same fashion as before, alternating between the two styles when it feels right. She doesn't slow down much between each swing and manages to keep her footing while voicing her confusion.*
Ok, what do you mean by new angles? Like...lower and higher?
