For those of you who have a MySpace account, or used to: have you ever recieved perverted messages from people (read: older men) you've never met before?
  Nope, don't have/never had a MySpace.
No, I've been lucky so far (has or had a MySpace).
Yes, It's happened once or twice before over the span of a year..
I can count on two hands how many times--over the span of a year.

Rainra
That... was so awesome! You go!
Shove a grenade up his d**k. That made me laugh so hard...
I'm never going to have a Myspace. Didnt really want one before, (not that my mom would let me anyways) and now I REALLY dont want a Myspace. If I'm going to get messages like THAT from 39 YEAR OLD MEN, theres NO way I'm going to do that.
Loved the way you flicked him away. Cant get over it.
Now I know why they teach us all those big words in english... so we can use them as wepons on perverted 39 year olds xd

Yes, and now we all know why having a large vocabulary is a beautiful thing, indeed.

I blocked him and reported him after I sent that last message, because he was a complete retard. And he was ugly as all hell, too...I should post a picture of his face.

tha sad thing is, that for every intelligent and articulate female like the starter of this thread, there are airheads that encourage this behaviour in males.

ive never recieved anything explicit but a nigerian man once said i was 'preety gil' and he wanted to marry me......

.....yyeeaaaahhhh, thats NOT gonna happen stare

This is why I modified my myspace so I could avoid this kind of retardation.

*claps* Wow! :]

I am so glad you told that jerkface off. Stupid perverts like him need to GTFO. Which I don't understand, he's complaining to you how you didn't hyphens and whatever. He needed to shut up because he could barely spell his own damn self! That's a shame. He's 39, trying to flirt with an 18 year old, and can't even back up or spell what he's going to say. neutral

*claps again* I'm glad you spoke your mind to that..that..idiot!

( That is why I am not getting a Myspace. I don't want some pervert hitting on a 14 year old girl like me. It's just sick! )

I will not lie. I do have an account on myspace. I check it everyday, once maybe twice for ten or so minutes top. I don't feel the need to spend hours browsing and oogling the people that post themselves as available sex objects. it's rather disgusting. On my account, I have pictures of my favorite anime character instead of my real ones. That way, there's not way to determine just exactly who I am.

And girls, let me warn you, myspace itself isn't the dangerous part. As this example shows, it's the people in this world and their insatiable appetite for sex that makes online communities like myspace, facebook, and in some cases, Gaia, dangerous. So even should you want an account on places like this, NEVER, EVER give your picture, address, phone number, etc. to ANYONE. I've had a stalker off of Facebook, and I'll never make that mistake again. I won't even give the vicinitive area of the country I live in to anyone. It's too darn risky to do things like that.

And good job on the response. I wish I was able to write like that all the time. I think my writing skills are eh, but not great. I've been told differently, but I just think that they lack, especially compared to people such as yourself. And congrats on your scholarship and entry to that school.

After what I've gone through, I can speak with experience that you can trust people with general events that transpire in your life, but that's all.

This is the conclusion of my story:

I just decided to--on a whim--check the status of the people on my blocked list, on which Blurk has resided for some time now, after I blocked and reported him a while ago.

His account has been deleted.

So yes, MySpace does look into these claims. I seriously wasn't expecting MySpace to do anything about it(given the vast number of reports like mine that probably clog the system from time to time) but they did, and I got the last laugh. Certainly he could start up another account, being the b*****d that he undoubtedly is, but now he knows--his s**t won't fly there as long as there are people who are willing to report him.

My only regret is that I didn't get a picture of him to photoshop into an even more hideous goblin and send it to him before blocking him.

Tips in reporting idiots such as Blurk: Be as specific as possible in reporting the harassment, even go so far as to quote the b*****d directly if you can. Don't think of it as a waste of time simply because he can make a new account; in the time it would take for him to make a new profile, you can re-report him at least ten times over.

Another thing...I see that a lot of you gals like how I handled him, and that's very flattering to me, really it is. But hennajin85 has a point, it doesn't take much to find out the general location of where someone lives.

If these people felt the impulse and lived near enough, they could be driving around with a picture of you that they got off of your site, and find you by way of appearance. If you have that sort of information on your profile and decide to do what I did, and b***h the guy out, be aware that he might be one of the psychotic people who do go out into the world looking for sex, vengeance, or a rotton combination of the two.

Hennajin has the right idea in using anime pictures rather than real ones. But if you do want to use your own pictures, be sure to compensate by hiding or deleting anything that could give away your location. Privatize your blogs, blur out street signs or landmarks in your pictures, and don't mention or display the type of vehicle you drive.

Just as something to add: On MySpace, there is a boy whose profile should turn up when you type 'Andrew Page' in the search bar; his username is 'The Dark One.' His current 'about me' section states that he was born in England and moved to Minnesota, and now lives with his Mum, though this history can change according to the needs of the people who message him. His eyes are brown, as is his short hair, with a touch of auburn-ness. It's a good, well-lit picture, and he is fairly pale. His current age is either 19 or 20(I forget his birthday), he is 5' 11", and of athletic build.
If you find yourself harassed by someone on MySpace, give him the dickhead's name and what he said, and that pervert will find himself at the recieving end of a most impolite message from 'The Dark One.' How do I know this? Lol...Andrew is my male profile, the history is made up, and his profile picture is a photoshopped version of myself. He has no connection to me on that site. I am in no danger when I use that profile, and frankly, I'm bored. So if you're one of the harassed, and you have a MySpace, friend and/or message me--I mean, Andrew, and he'll get cracking. Really, I can't resist bashing these guys...they make it SO easy...and I've seen them get pretty jumpy when they realize that thier victim's brother isn't amused by what they said to their little sister. *hint hint jab jab*. Andrew will even do the honor of reporting the scum, if the harassed one is, for whatever reason, disinclined.

If interested, send me a private message, or find Andrew Page and talk to him. All services are free; personal satisfaction and entertainment is taken as the highest form of payment here.

I applaud you for telling this guy where to stick it. I am appalled by the sheer amount of messages I get on MySpace where it's obvious they're not just looking for some kind of conversational outlet, they want to see how far into your e-pants they can get before you freak out and block them.

I barely use MySpace anymore because of the situations I have encountered. One being a 50 year old, overweight, balding male wishing to show me his manhood. Another having been a married man who started off talking to me regularly about hobbies and such and then started discussing his desire for me to have threesomes with him and his wife. Considering they live many, many miles from where I live, not bloody likely even if I wanted to.

Unfortunately, I like giving people the benefit of the doubt before I block them, but I have to admit, with a big baby ticker in my profile showing I'm pregnant, the marital section showing I am happily married and NOWHERE does it say I'm looking for a relationship, it's a wonder if these guys can actually read.

LOL!

I bet when he read your first reply, in his mind he was going
"...oh s**t"

Lol xD!

Damn.. you really came out looking good..

If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were the older one. He makes himself look so immature.

I've never had a myspace and don't plan on it.

Oh, they probably find ways to delude themselves that they're in the right when our replies are anything less than what they want to hear. They forget about the rights people have against the s**t they pull... Personally, I'd love to have a way to track them down so I could send the cops knocking on their door.

Sadly, people don't need to be good-looking or slim to be a target for sexual harassment--I'm 175 lbs and 5' 5-ish'', and my looks are average at best. But no matter who bothers you for whatever reason, just remember that they're dumbasses and nothing more. I also like to think of them as desperate, pathetic SOBs biggrin

If anyone who has a myspace wants to add me, go here and send me a message and friend's request smile
