To protect ... that's why I came ...
For Ka, it was as simple as that. He'd come to China because Farlest was going ... because he liked the other boy and wanted to make sure he would be safe. Yes, he cared about the other things that had happened along the way ... cared about Alex, especially.
But his main purpose in coming had been to protect Far, to keep the other from getting hurt. And aside from that ... all other things were secondary.
He had done what he came to do, even though it had been hard, and he'd ended up getting hurt himself ...
Ka decided, with a tired little smile, that in the end, it had all been worth it.

I hope this is the last time we meet: Weiyuan's View
It was sad. But somehow he understood that man's feelings. To be with his people, to protect his daughter. He could understand the drive that that man had. Still...The life of one is not more precious to the life of many. Though in one person's eye the value changes, to him it was all still a killing. No matter who it saved. For that he could not have pity for the two.
As he sat down into the chopper's seat he looked over the land once more. He had a feeling, that this still wasn't over with. That he would end up back here. Luna wasn't done with him yet.
He sighed, looking over at the other people who surrounded him. They had succeeded in eliminating the cause of the murders but at the same time they still took blows. Weiyuan prayed that now Alex and Kenth would be able to get back to a full recovery.
At least he was able to do something. He would've enjoyed getting a few hits in but it was not to be. He had stayed to help the two. That fight wasn't meant for him to be apart of.
This event was over now, he had other things to focus on. His studies. His dreams. Academics in general. And....well. He had a fiance now...didn't he? It was better to wait for all this excitement to die down before telling Rui that during all of his mess he had proposed to Rylenn. As much of a pain in the a** this has been, something good came out of it at least.

It was relief...and more than a little sadness...
He didn't understand why it had to happen. Of course...he sympathized with the man, could see just why the other would desire to protect his daughter...to save her, how family was so very precious to him. It was how Farlest felt for his brothers...
However, he knew that it wasn't at all the right choice, not the one that was supposed to be made...not the one better for the greater good.
Had he been in the same situation, however, Farlest doubted he would have done less to protect that which he loved.
This troubled him, disturbed him...he felt as though his own hands were dirtied. The only thing that soothed the turmoil was that he knew that all his friends were safe, that Alex would be all right, and that Ka was still his friend, and they were still looking out for one another.
Useless...he might have been, but it didn't make him regret coming...now it was time to go home, and deal instead with the inner storm.

Final Report
"What now?"
Staring blankly at the ceiling, feeling the pain still attacking his nerves, Kenth mentally asked himself. It was a stupid question, yet the words were so big in his head that he couldn't think of anything else.
It felt like a dream, a nightmare.
It felt so long, like eternity, yet it also felt short, less than 5 minutes. Things happened faster than he had imagined, and he had registered them too slowly to understand any of it.
From first coming to this land, the spores, the natives, the ceremony, the deal...to the investigation, the guilt, the flight, the fighting...the truth.
What was the truth? That the natives were possessed by Luna's powers? That those dark creatures of the night were the ones that were behind the riot? That Luna's power was released on that night when his sight blurred in front of a tall shadow whose hands were trying to take away an innocent woman's life, that he had tried to save her...
The truth is, he was helpless...no, he couldn't help at all, whatever it may be.
He wasn't the one who turned the situation around, he wasn't the one who told the truth to everyone, he wasn't the one who was able to protect other's lives, he wasn't the one to save her...
Herei was, everyone else was, not him.
So there he lay, staring blankly at the ceiling of some room that he didn't really care where he was, and asked himself that question repeatedly.
What now? What would others think of him now, what would people think of the incident? Kenth was not sure if he really cared about what happened after he lost conscious...he wasn't a part of what happened, and he had no right to make mention of it. It was the others, everyone else, that helped, that made the group safe.
Of course, as soon as he could stand up again he'd return to his works, piled up in mountains, he'd casually talk about what happened, and he'd be the one responsible to file in a report of the incident...like a bystander. And after that he'd go on with life, like what happened long time ago...nobody would see him, but they would know that he had not helped, and that was the way it had always been.
Helpless.
He could still feel the warmth that lingered on his broken hand, a temperature that was not of his own. He could swore that someone had held it while he was unconscious, someone who cared...
But of course that would be impossible, it was a dream, after all.
