Ever think that our universe could be a very very tiny part of a much much larger universe? Meaning, that our planet earth is just an electron of our solar system an atom of our galaxy a molecular structure? And really we're this tiny speck on the face of existance... and maybe aliens ARE all around us but they are so much larger that we are unaware of them completely. There are many cartoons that depict this as well.. primarily Futurama, Simpsons and Reboot come to mind. Although reboot actually takes that into the electronic world as well. But you see my point?
And maybe upon each tiny molecule of our universe is a whole galaxy with developed intelligent beings and everything. But even our most powerful electron microscope can barely even make out the atom in good enough detail to see all of this.
I've thought this for a very very long time... used to spin my parents heads with that idea. I believe there is an Isaac Asimov book about it, too... which I may or may have not read. Everything's fuzzy from back then....

I've considered it before, but the physics doesn't always sit well with the idea. I've tried my best, but I just couldn't justify the fundamental forces on such scales.

I've often thought about our universe being a tiny part of a much bigger universe, and that in turn part of a bigger universe, much like Russian nesting dolls. I've never been able to prove it, though, no matter how hard I try. But, who knows, the human mind would not be significant were wuch an arrangement taking place.
I've never considered the idea of 'microplanets' so to speak. I don't consider it possible, really. I find it very unlikely for millions living things with all the life functions to live on an atom. What would they feed on? What would their bodies be made of? I find it doubtful.
However, I can contradict myself, saying that the earth is but a speck in the universe of infinite reaches. Perhaps aliens would not be able to comprehend how we survive and are built. However, I feel I have no right to be concocting paradoxical arguements at this point. My opinion stands at: 'it's just not enough space.'

I think both theories are entirely plausible, but this is another one of those things that aren't excactly easy to prove/disprove.
