one way to help the environment is to be frugal (spend less, and use everything to its ultimate potential). Go to the thrift store sometimes, and recycle clothes. Don't buy in excess, and use a little less toilet paper people! Don't spend so much money on gas, and invest in a bike or public transportation instead. Don't use paper plates, and use cloth napkins instead of paper napkins. Don't use so much toothpaste! Being "cheap" can save you loads of money, and eases up on the earth's natural recourses.
And now I would like to add a truly inspiring true story:
My English teacher does not own a car. He travels via skateboard and bus. He skateboards from school to the bus stop with his breif case, then takes his skateboard onto the bus. It is portable and it works! He has been using this kind of transportation for about 15 years. He is 60 years old! I am so proud of him!!! And he is always so pleased with life! He's always smiling xd

It's a wonderful idea, but for those, like myself, who live in somewhat rural communities, such as farmland and woodland areas away from the cities, we have no public transportation. A bicycle would not help either. If i were to ride my bicycle to school, it would take me an hour to reach the building. That would mean just waking up an extra hour, right? Well, i know that at least one third of the students attending my school( let's not leave out adults that work in or around town) live out in the framland adn boonies. It would take them multiple hours to reach any destination in town. Taking these hour from their day would create less productivity, and would not help the community. Until America's government can help fund more accessable public transportation ( and considoring the size of our country, it wouldn't be too much) I'm afraid i must continue on polluting the atmosphere with car exhaust, at least, until I can afford my own hydro-electric vehicle biggrin
have you ever considered carpooling? If you live near people who go to your school you guys can hitch rides together.
