George Hearn makes me smile every time i watch,
Angela lansbury is very ...commited to her character,
Johanna...oh god...thats all i can say.
Toby looks very old for a young boy
and Signor Adolfo Pirelli goes limp very well when he's being put into the chest...its very amusing

I didn't like how Angela Lansburry did the role of Mrs. Lovett, she didn;t sound like she was singing at all. About Johanna and Anthony (original musical)...................well.............no comment o.O
But again, I saw the movie first I was kinda used to the characters in the movie and how they portrayed their roles, soooooo....yeah

I saw the movie before anything else and loved it.
Then I looked up a few of the songs on YouTube and found the stage production with Angela Lansbury and George Hearn.
I thought that their rendition of A Little Priest was a bit more amusing.

Yeah, it was funnier in the musical. That was like my favorite part. But it wouldn't have fit in the movie, you know?

I was given the 1982 recording of the original musical on DVD today. Best Secret Santa present ever? I think so. I've seen this version before but it's fantastic to own it. I'm rewatching it now.

George Hearn has a much stronger, more operatic voice than Johnny Depp, which I love. I find Angela Lansbury hilarious- she comes across as more demented and less hot gothic and serious than Helena Bonham Carter's Mrs Lovett (Lansbury seems to play it for laughs a bit more) but I could never choose between the two.
