When I get married, I want to do the traditional double-ended candle burning from Chinese tradition. It seemed so fascinating when I read about it. But aside from that, I haven't done much wedding planning.

I'm not sure if i would be able to have a handfasting, unless i want my boyfriends father to die....He's a devote catholic. I think the thought of even not having a traditional wedding would kill hiim. But then again im not really catholic sooo, a catholic church wedding is out too...lol...

Well..........I'm having trouble with this too. My fiance and I are getting married next year (2007) on Litha ^-^ (his choice). His parents don't know that he is Pagan now instead of Christion, and most of my family is Cathlic. We're thinking of geting Hadfasted the earlier that day and then doing the legial wedding with a justic of the peace (sp). heart I already know everthing that I'm going to do..... xd
I'm also supposed to be planing a Pagan handfasting for my mom and my future step-dad for this years Mabon...........that is harder.......lol sweatdrop

Euthanasia Of Sanity My wedding idea is pretty morbid. My gown would be a victorian-gothic gown in black and green It would take place in a beautiful New Orleans cemetary Everyone would have to dress accordingly I like that idea. I always picture mine in a crimson and black, or dark blue and black dress like that. It would take place at night with a big bonfire, or somewhere in with nature that's really beautiful.

SolitaryChild I think that there's something like a handfasting. The High priest and priestess do the ceremony and stuff . I'll look up handfasting on Google. smile Thats right. My brother did that (a handfasting) with his wife in the middle of a glade at sunset with all the family there (even the closed-minded catholic types sweatdrop ). Things went better than you might have expected and people were content enough to let them do things their way. The whole ceremony was very pretty.

My idea is to have a handfasting on beltane at the unicorn mother house outside with some close friends and relatives. The later on in the week having a renaissance wedding since a major part of my family is southern baptist and i dont want to get married in a church they can live with a semi-traditional wedding

Lilah-Clover I was talking to my mum about my cousins upcoming wedding (TRADITIONAL!!!) And then I started to talk about mine, and I said I would love to marry Justin.. 1. Hes my soul mate, 2. just coz of the wedding as he is wiccan too... So my question is what type of wedding would you have..? Is there a such thing as a wiccan wedding...??!!?? And what do u need to have..? And what would you do at yours..? the handfasing is the wiccan wedding. the hands are bound for a year and a day, legally a trial marriage, then they are bound tighter and legally married. Silver Ravenwolf's book To light a Sacred Flame discusses handfasting, wiccaning, etc.

Theres a such thing called Handfasting. :] In the united states, handfasting is legal. as long as the necessary paperwork, such as a marriage license and blood tests. In other countries, such as britain, it is not legally recognized. Handfastings are generally carried out by a high priestess and/or a high priest. Some advertise their services in pagan and New Age publications, so even solitaries should be able to find someone to carry out a handfasting for them if they desire. Most handfastings are beautiful occasions. with vows exchanged and the clasped hands o fthe bride and groom bound with a silver cord to symbolize their togetherness. Afterward, there is much feasting and merriment. Handfastings are usually performed at Beltane. they can be conducted at most times of the year. The exceptoin is the period between Samhain and Imbolc. when the energies are not in tune with such ceremonies. Handfasting is seen as a new beginning, so it is best carried out during a new or waxing moon.
