Knightley Says She'd Like to Gain Weight
She Says Media Pressure Could Chase Her From Acting
(May 2) - Keira Knightley has had enough of her thin frame.

The 'Pirates of the Carribean' star admits in an interview with Elle UK that she has tried to put on pounds. "'I went to the doctor to be checked out and asked him what I could do to put on weight," she says. "He told me that for someone of my body type to get to a size 12, I would have to eat a lot of s--t food, stop exercising and drink loads. Basically, my body type is naturally thin. There is nothing I can do about it."

Knightley was criticized last summer for her skinny size, especially after her red carpet photos from the 'Pirates of the Carribean' sequel. The actress, along with other skinny stars including Victoria Beckham, were implicated in the death of 19-year-old Sophie Mazurek, who suffered from anorexia. Mazurek's mother had referenced the photos of Knightley in speaking after her daughter's passing.

The pressure from the media has the actress considering giving up acting altogether. "I think I just have to move away or give it up altogether. I couldn't have kids in the situation I'm in now. But I could just do something else," she says. "That's probably what's going to happen. I'm just not so hungry any more. I made a decision very recently that I wanted a life instead."

As for a body she wants instead, Knightley references Beth Ditto, lead singer of the American punk band, The Gossip , who proudly weighs over 200 pounds and often wears revealing outfits on stage. "When (Ditto) was performing (at a London gig), she started taking all her clothes off. I stood there watching her strip, thinking "oh my God, that woman is so sexy." She has the most amazing body."

I remember hearing about this. I salute her!

If this is true, it's just pathetic that people try to blame her for her natural body type.

Any parent implicating her is just trying to take blame off themselves for being shitty parents.

Although, I have a lot of trouble believing she wants to be a size 12... a lot. I don't know her height, but I imagine she just wants to have actual curves.

Although I think she is so pretty.

And just google Beth Ditto, I've seen her videos on Youtube, too, and The Gossip is also on Myspace...although I don't seem to be able to find the official myspace profile, though it might be here

I really enjoy their song, Standing in the Way of Control, but the others are good too. I can't remember the name of the other one I really like, though. Ditto actually refused to perform at one store in England they were scheduled for because they didn't have any clothing in her size, and she felt that would be hypocritical. She urged them to allow her to design clothes for them but I don't think they ever let her.

But good for her.

When I watched the latest pirates I felt kinda bad for her 'cause she's actually looking a little too skinny to me, but I think part of it was the costumes... she looked so gorgeous in Pirates 1 and then the last two not as much (I don't like her costumes on her as much... but I also think it's partially her hair seems thinner and her skin doesn't match her hair as well 'cause they both changed colors sweatdrop ) 'Cept at the very end she looked lovely, and in the chinese getup. Still totally beautiful, just not as much as I'd expect from her. And she was sexy in Domino and in various photos I've seen.

Also, I just saw a magazine cover with Beth Ditto basically exposed, and I was impressed.

That's awesome. I'm glad she's standing up for herself and speaking out against the ridiculousness of how all women are treated based on body size. And the fact that she thinks Beth Ditto is sexy makes me smile a LOT heart
