In the last few decades, Capoeira has truly blossomed beyond Brazil! There are now Capoeira schools in over 80 countries world wide! This means that people of many different cultures have now ventured as students into the path of Capoeira, and some have even already become teachers of Capoeira!
Let's talk about each other's cultures and roots. Capoeira may be Brazilian, but not everyone who studies Capoeira, nowadays, is necessarily Brazilian themselves. What is your culture... And I don't mean where do you live... I am speaking in terms of your "roots". Where does your ancestry go back to? What culture do you belong to through ancestry? Let's talk about it! 3nodding

My roots mainly go back to Scotland. My surname is "Ferguson". Some other spellings of Ferguson include "Fergusson", "Furgason", "Furgerson", "Furgeson", "Farguson", "Fargerson" and "Fargusson", among many others. The ancient Scottish Gaelic spelling of the name is "MacFhearghuis". Here are the Ferguson Tartans: Ancient- Modern- Muted- Some other Scottish surnames on my family tree are MacDonald (of Clanranald), Stewart and Campbell. Some other cultures on my family tree are Irish (Murphy), Welsh (Clee), German (Bosch) and French (Boutilier). I'm anxious to hear what other cultures you all come from.

Well I'm a mix, to be honest. My pops is a Filipino, and my mom is straight up Mexican, but neither of them showed any signs of honoring their traditions, or history, so I never learned much about it. Actually, one of my goals, when I do kids, is to instill a sense of tradition into them, and have them be prud to practice what they learned fro theor elders, and pass it down to their kids, who would pass it down to their kids, who would pass it down to their kids, and so on, and so on.
I'm probably the most tradition-centered person in my family, now that I think about it.
