As Cecil walked out, Evi sighed dramatically. That was, what? The third time that he had walked out on her that day? Evi shrugged, everybody had their own special quirks. Tail twitched, she got up off the bed and ran after Cecil. "So, do know how long you've been here? Have you met any of the other islanders yet? Do you know how to swim?" Pausing her rapid question asking, she gazed at the scenery before her.
Thinking of another question, she blurted it out, "Can you talk and you just don't want to, or can you really not talk?"

At the mention of his voice, Cecil stopped. He took up his notebook and wrote down his usual response. He handed the notebook to flying-monkey-girl before walking again.
If you don't mind hearing someone that sounds like their throat just got cut open and stuffed with pieces of slimy sandpaper, sure, I can if I wanted to.
And Cecil kept walking peacefully.

Evi's eyebrows furrowed as she read what Cecil had written. Well, that didn't make sense.
"Why slimy sandpaper? Wouldn't it technically be worse if they just stuffed your throat with regular sandpaper? I mean..." She trailed off again, deep in thought.
After a few seconds of silence, she added, "Well, I've only known one person who couldn't speak - beside you, I mean. He was is my circus troupe. I forget his name, but I'll always remember that he cut out his own tongue - that's why he couldn't speak, you know? If I couldn't speak, I'd much rather be like you than him. Pretty wacko, he was."

Cecil walked back to the girl, and took the notebook from her for a second, he scribbled, The slime was to make a point. Why'd he cut off his tongue? His face tilted downwards, his eyes looking up at her with a "No duh."

"Actually, he cut off his tongue. I was pretty sure he was officially crazy, but nobody ever came to cart him away to the crazy house and my parents didn't mind him being there as long as he didn't try to kill us in our sleep, so he stayed!" She subconsciously stretched her wings, flapping them gently.
Up until now, while Evi stood next to him, she hadn't noticed how much taller he was than her, not that it was a surprise, a lot of people were taller than her petite height of 5'1". But still, she had to look up quite a bit to see his face. Or she would have, if he wasn't already looking down with an exasperated look on his face.
She just shrugged and started walking again.

Cecil looked at his book. Oops. He knew that.
When you write as much as I do, it's easy to slip up. He wrote messily, his pen still on the paper when she started to walk.

He was writing again? Evi looked back to see Cecil once again scribbling something into his notebook. Well, she supposed, how was one to communicate otherwise if they couldn't speak? She did try to hurry him on though.
"Come on! It would be a shame to waste such a lovely day! I don;t mean to be rude, but can't you walk and write at the same time?"

Cecil's eyes narrowed, snatching the book from her, I'm not exactly proud of my voice you know, I don't even know if I can with this thing on my face. He tapped his thick beak with a fist. Even though his voice came from his throat because of his condition, he knew that she didn't know that, and he wasn't in the mood for a demonstration.

"I didn't mean that you have to talk," she said, overly patient, with a ghost of a smile on her face, "just don't stop walking everytime you want to write something down! Watch." She grabbed the notebook and pen out of Cecil's hand and began walking backward, drawing something, and talking - all at the same time.
"See, you can walk while you write whatever you need to tell me, you don't have to keep stopping!" She tossed him back his notebook, where he would find a most artistically drawn stick figure, a sun, and a flower. ((*cough*Not really*cough*...))

Cecil shrugged and took back the notebook, he began to write while walking.
He tossed the book back, his writing was messier,
Writing while walking is harder for me than it seeems.

"Ah, well," Evi shrugged, "You just need to keep practicing!" She quieted down, not really knowing what else to say. "Well, hey listen Cecil, it was real good meeting you! But I think I'm gonna run, now. Maybe I'll catch you later, eh?" She smiled sincerely and just took off without waiting for an answer. She hoped he wouldn't take it the wrong way.
((Aah! It burns with lameness! xp But that's a wrap for me...))

((Ok.))
Cecil gave her a wave and a smile, he was writing while walking again, this time trying to get his hand more steady. He went out of sight.
POW.
Whoops, fell into a ditch.
