What does Saiyd being a muslim have to do with Christianity?

Very interesting, I was just thinking about this the other day. They at least prod the envelope a little by pairing up Miss America and an ex-Iraqi soldier, or a black woman and a white man (and I like how they actually admit that the issue does exist, i.e. when Hurley says "So, Rose's husband is white. Didn't see that one coming.")... but I guess homosexuality is just too controversial ^^; Personally, I would love it if there was a homosexual character or two... but I know that people would make such a HUGE deal out of it that, strange though it may sound, I'm almost glad there aren't any. It would probably only depress me. rolleyes

Hmm... reading though some of the other responses, I agree strongly with what Desdemona Winchcombe said, about homosexuality not being as obvious as something like race, and how they would have to have a specific need or reason for the character to be gay. I would hate to see homosexuality introduced purely for shock value >_>
