Chloe finally settled on staying at the entrance to the road for a little longer. That way she could meet up with Brayden and Kaya, and maybe Julian too, if they took the route from Pallet Town upon arrival to the region.
"That also gives us a bit more time to kick the training up a notch, huh?" Chloe smiled to Ahi, who hissed out an agreement.
So Chloe set her bag off to the side, before summoning her entire party. She figured Dai was strong enough, but kept him out just in case she needed his help. In the meantime, he was free to relax in the small pond that lay by the entrance to Victory Road.
The rest of her party gathered around her, as Chloe explained the situation. Seemed Lance was getting things started, and she wanted to get everyone in decent shape to help out.
That was easy enough to understand.

"The Pokemon here are a bit tougher, so they'd make better training than the other wild Pokemon in this part of the region," Chloe explained. "So hopefully we can get a few battles in before things get bad."
"Ahi and Enyo?" the two looked up in acknowledgment, "You two are the least experienced in battle, although you're definitely not lacking in skill. I'll be trying to get you two trained a bit more while we're here. Maybe if we're lucky, we can boost you guys a bit."
"The rest of you, if at all possible, I'd like you to rest up, and practice. I don't know how quickly things will pick up, but if worst comes to worst, I don't think we'll be seeing any breaks for a while. Lance is powerful even without the blade..." Chloe sighed, "I just hope we can do something to stop him."

And so Chloe, Enyo, and Ahi headed back to the entrance of the caves. Lantis took off, flying overhead, getting a bit of fresh air. That left Entreri and Khai. Entreri ignored Khai completely, perching in the trees, and taking a nap in the shade. The Pupitar gave him a look, but hopped off.
Chloe stretched, looking to make sure the rest of her party was within range. If things got too tough for Ahi and Enyo to handle, she knew that the rest of her party would be more than able to pick up the slack.
"So, you guys ready to begin?" she asked the two.

The first Pokemon to face off against them was a Golbat. Chloe wasn't sure if it was one of the ones she scared off earlier with the light of her Nav, but motioned for Enyo to take this battle. The small Aron nodded happily, clomping up to face off against the poison bat.
"Keep with Iron Head," Chloe instructed, "Its attacks won't do much against you, so just keep at it, kay?"
Enyo nodded, offering a "Ron!" in agreement, before charging in to strike the Golbat with Iron Head. The bat countered with a Wing Attack, which did little against Enyo's natural armor. The Aron slammed again with Iron Head, as the Golbat retorted with an Astonish. Again, Enyo took little damage from the hit, using another Iron Head, knocking hard into the Golbat. The bat tried a Bite, but again, Enyo withstood the blow easily, countering once again with Iron Head.
"You're doing great, Enyo, keep it up!" Chloe cheered with a smile. Sometimes it helped having a hard head like Enyo did.
The Golbat was getting desperate. It tried another Wing Attack, which Enyo shrugged off, finishing off the bat with one last Iron Head.

"Alright, great job," Chloe smiled, as the Golbat weakly fluttered off. Enyo grinned, tromping back over to Chloe happily as Chloe buffed out the scratches on the Aron's iron hide. She had taken hardly any damage from the Golbat's attacks, one of the reasons why Chloe liked steel types.
"You're a tough little one, huh?" Chloe laughed, as Enyo struck up a Magnet Rise, hovering alongside Chloe as the group sought out another Pokemon to test their skills on.

While Chloe walked, she let her mind wander. She couldn't help but wonder if giving back the Draco Gauntlets had been a wise decision. Especially when Lance was starting up his attack. Or what seemed like an attack anyway.
Although... when considering the areas hit, Chloe couldn't help but wonder why he chose them. For the most part, save for Pewter, the areas hit were on the outskirts of the regions. With not too many people visiting (I mean, what was the gain in turning Seafoam Island into a jungle?).
"Maybe he's seeing what he can do with the blade?" Chloe thought out loud. She offered a shrug a moment later, to no one in particular.
"Whatever his reasons, we have to stop him before he causes any more trouble," Chloe sighed.

Chloe's pokenav beeped to show she had a new message.
 From Julian Hey Chloe, things in Pewter sound awful. I would love to help, and will get there as soon as I can, but this new news flash that just streamed has me worried. I think that whoever hacked the broadcast wants someone to check out the Hoenn Desert. So, I'm going to go there, hopefully it isn't a trap or anything though. Anyway I'll meet you in Pewter when I'm done with this. Let me know if you go anywhere else before I get there. Be careful okay? I hear those revived fossils have already started causing some casualties. I don't want you to be among them, so keep Daimon close okay? These things are weak against water so he should have no probelm with them.

Chloe read the message from Julian, typing out her response, before motioning to Ahi and Enyo.
"I think its time for us to go," she admitted.
A screech from a Golbat told her that she would be delayed a bit longer. She called Khai from his rest, recalling the rest of her party as she requested a Rock Throw from the Pupitar. Khai was quick to respond, sending a mental call to the surrounding earth, which rose to his call, rising in chunks and boulders, which he hurled at the Golbat. The poison bat let out a screech, diving in with Bite, as Khai finished it off with another Rock Throw.
"Well, that was easy enough. Thanks, Khai," Chloe grinned, patting the Pupitar who nodded. Chloe recalled the rocky Pokemon, before locating the path that would lead her back to Viridian.

It seemed the Golbat wasn't quite done yet, as it let out a screech, summoning an ally to help out. The wounded bat flapped away, as a second one took its place.
Chloe sighed, watching the fanged bat flap in front of her.
"Not cool," she complained with a sigh. Chloe summoned Ahi in front of her, as the Ekans hissed menacingly at the Golbat.
"Use Aqua Tail," Chloe instructed, as Ahi splashed the bat with a full-forced aquatic assault. The bat was disoriented for a moment, but dove down with Bite, as Ahi released another Aqua Tail at the creature. The Golbat grimaced, before striking with Poison Fang. It did little to deter the Ekans, who finished the job with another Aqua Tail. Chloe healed up the snake with a smile.
"Great job, now, let's go meet the others!"

The dragon trainer in-training hopped down the rocky path that would take her back to town. From there, it was a pretty straight shot to the north to get to Pewter, she realized. Heading through the Viridian Forest should be easy enough. The Pokemon there should prove little difficulty for her party.

Chloe had just made it to the outskirts of town, when something caught her eye. A strange pendant was snagged on a bush. It looked like wings of some kind.
"Hm... strange," Chloe mused, lifting the piece from the twigs of the underbrush, "Wonder what this is for?" Ahi could provide little answers, as Chloe hung the pendant over her neck. No trouble in hanging onto it, was there?
