I heard if you see one you are supposed to press A and you will get something in the mail the next day. Is that true? Because I missed a shooting star today.

Yep, it's true! Wishy the Star will send you a gift if you press A when you see a shooting star in the sky. If you are holding an item, however, such as a watering can, shovel, or umbrella, then the game will register the A button as a command for the item, and Wishy won't give you anything. D:
