I play in my basement because that's where my game systems are hooked up. I could bring them up stairs but pfft why go through the trouble?

I play it in my room, at night, in the dark with no other lights on in the house with my door open... And yet I have yet to be freaked out at all. Although there was this one time I was playing it at my friend's house and my friend looks like Kirie and she walked up behind me and made me jump.

Hakumuoh
I always play fatal frame my basement. I think it adds to the effect because it's always dark and all of the creaks and bangs, like you said. I mostly play it down there because if I play it on the main floor, there's always people walking around and the sun shines on the tv while i'm playing and the game isn't as good.

One time I was playing fatal frame and I swear I heard someone whisper my name in my ear. I'm afraid to go down there now but I still like to play in the basement... just now I bring a dog.

Very off topic but why do dogs make people feel better about that sort of thing? It's not like the dogs could ever do anything if anything happened but they still make people feel safer. I don't get why I do it sweatdrop

Well, this is my opinion on it and may not be very accurate, but I think that dogs make us feel better because we think that dogs are pretty loyal, or at least that most are and that they wouldn't leave us if something happened. That and if something were to happen, the dog would probably sense it before us and give us a warning by whimpering or barking x3

The basement is especially scary to play in because they usually don't have windows ( depending on your house's design ), some don't have very good lighting, but also because in the basement, there's more or less a feeling of no escape. Generally because of the lack of windows, most basements only have one entrance/exit, and it's all the way at the top of the stairs, so it's like if a ghost or something was down there, you couldn't just easily run away...
