Well, well, well. This thread certainly got long in a hurry.

Well due somewhat to my religion and mostly on basic observations any layman could see... I think the whole world and not just the US is going down the crapper. I mean, not only from the way we treat each other, but the way we treat the planet. Have you seen An Inconvenient Truth? Within the next 30-50 years, if something isn't done about the rising carbon monoxide levels, the earth will be practically UNLIVABLE. The sun's radiation would kill you.

And I KNOW I'm not being paranoid or a "tree hugger". Most of the problem is big corporations. Especially gas companies. They give big payoffs to government officials to hold them back from having the government start some kind of alternative fuel source. They figure "Well, I'll be dead by then, so who cares!? At least I'll be rich!"

And retarded things like that pig farmer who converted his car to run on pig manure. A big oil company bought the rights to his design and never let anyone benefit from it. They even made sure the pig farmer didn't use it anymore. I could go on and on. Kudos to you who have made it this far... xd

Years ago though, War was pretty common and normal in The world(Talking about Hundreds of years ago), blacks did not have equal rights, `and women were treated like crap.

We are only trying to ensure peace and our own saftey. What would Iran need with nuclear weapons anyways?

What would America need with nuclear weapons? neutral
To keep peace and make us safe..It's our advantage over countries that want to attack us.

Thats what diplomats are for. Those who have nukes have power.

No that whats where your wrong, people who have nukes have fear and those are called Dictators....those are people who get their power from driving fear into others...just a bully...and does everyone know what a bully is? They are cowards once they get exposed.

Sadam was a prime example of this. Hiding in his little spider hole

If it would make the world a safer place I would be glad to die like that.

Would everyone else in your leafy little hamlet, whose lives you are so willing to cut short? I wonder. Besides, capturing Osama bin Laden probably wouldn't make the world a safer place now. He can't act from where he is, wherever that is, if he's even alive: it would be a victory for justice alone, or revenge.

I'm sure you're also familiar with this quote from Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

A victory is a victory.

I find it amazing that you use that quote to attack me, I really dont care, whe that quote could very well sit with the US and the UK just as well.
The death of millions of people to save money is NOT a victory.

I never said the death of millions of people is a victory, killing Bin Laden is even at the expense of all of those people.
You have NO right to say that if you havent lost anyone that you loved because of the search for Bin Laden. Not that im saying we shouldnt find him...but when was the last time he did anything? He is a coward, did whatever he wanted until someone came for him. We shold search for him when he have some ACTUAL evidence

i'm really not big on politics, and to tell the truth i'm not really that wise in the area either......

>but i dont think its right to kill thousands of innocent people in an attempt to get rid of one person....
>and who knows where he could be anyway? what if you picked the wrong area and killed thousands for no reason?

>should we be involved in the affairs of other countries?
well i dont know...there are a whole lot of countries who could really benefit from our help but how are we going to help all of them? and do they want our help?
those are some things to think about.....

Tis a touchy subject. But nonetheless I think that in a way we do pretty much come off as that. Sure we have government branches setting national standards and rights. But the biggest question I think is, are our rights being protected?

Personally, I think some are being ignored in this state of "trying to crack down on terrorists." I am not one for rap music, but "Where is the Love" by the Black Eyed Peas nailed it if you ask me:

Yeah over seas we tryin' to stop terrorism, but we still got terrorist livin' in the USA the big CIA blood of the crypts and the KKK...

I mean ignoring the bad grammar it is so true.

I don't get it. What rights do you think are not being protected?

Hello, Amendment IV "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

GWB whole scandal with "trying to crack down on terrorists" by listening into your private phone calls (home and cell), looking into your federal mail, etc. I don't know about you, but the fact that the US government does not have my families or my consent to listen into phone calls does not make me feel all bubbly inside. That is what they have them doing in Homeland security. they keep tabs on almost all middle eastern Americans because they think that they are all "suspicious." What it doesn't seem like he is getting is that NOT ALL MIDDLE EASTERNERS ARE TERRORISTS there are corrupt people everywhere! How would you feel about every single phone call you have is being recorded or listened to by the US government? That is ILLEGAL to do with out the written consent of the citizen if there is no Legal reason to why you are listening. Our Government is paranoid.

I don't really care. I have nothing to hide. If ther were anarchy, then there would be chaos everywhere. I don't think we are in a state of anarchy at all.
