I understand all the basic things about materia but i want to kno if its possible to hit more than one enemy with magic materia (like ice or is that what mastering the materia allows you to do?) an answer would be greatly appreciated

the "all" Materia combined with any elemental materia does the job. Also, reflect cast on a party member then some magical attack cast on them makes it hit everybody too...if I remember right

hmm I don't remember hearing anything about the reflect thing but the "all" materia with a magic materia will be cast on everyone but make sure that you put the "all" and the magic materia right nex to each other and make sure there joined

"all" materia...it allows you to hit multiple enemies when paired with green materia

also depending on the level of the all materia is how many times you can cast the spell on all the enemys or allies depend on the spell

Yeah, the reflect trick is nice. Cast reflect on thyself and then cast a spell like thunder and it hits your oppents instead n.n

As said before the "ALL" materia set in a joined WPN or ARM slot next to A green "Magic" materia in the conjoined slot will give access to multi-target spells.
N.B. "ALL" will not have any effect when paired with Contain, Ultimia (which hits all anyway), Comet (Comet 2 hits all anyway), sheild, full cure, or Exit (i think) materias.
my personal fave combination with "All" is All+MASTER MAGIC then you get Mega-alls effect with out it affecting your commands (so you can use Double-cut materias effect)
a few other good combos would be:
1: Added effect + destuct on your armour as this grants continual immunity to instant death attacks (on your weapon it gives it instant death hits)
2: Final attack + Pheonix this will (given you have the MP) summon the pheonix when the party member with this combo is KO'ed revivng all fallen members of the party to full health and deal some fire based damage to your opponent.
3: MP absorb + master summon or KOTR this will drain MP from your opponent when ever you use a summon or KOTR keeping your supply up incase you need it in an emergancy (for exmple if you need to rely on combo 2)
4: added effect + Hadies on your armour gives you simmaler protection to ribbon (i would advice useing ribbon thoe)
5: sneak attack (obtained from the chocobo races) + ultima, constrain or KOTR occtionaly you will cast the most powerfull spell on the materia (if you have the MP) at the start of the battle
