Evolution has its place in product development, especially in the various disciplines of biology, but also in consumer product development, and other similar industries. The marketplace is the 'natural environment' of products, which are of course selected by consumers. An individual product reproduces by being bought in large numbers, which encourages companies to put more on the shelves. It mutates as new product versions are released. If you understand the theory of evolution, it helps in many other disciplines.

However, there are many disciplines in which it's not so helpful to understand evolution. They can only devote so much time to teaching about evolution in science class, and why should they devote more? It's not hard to understand, with few specialist terms. Besides, the real science behind evolution is genetics, which certainly is covered in biology classes (at least it was in mine.)

Additionally, Geography and Physics cover other aspects of planetary formation and cosmology. These are, if anything, more at odds with creationism than the theory of evolution alone is.
