I'm not kidding! I went to the Natick Mall tonight to see the Easter Bunny(E.B.) with my daughter. She is 13 months old. Her name is Kansas.
Everything was going normal. We were waiting in a very long line. The picture taking lady (PTL) closed the line after we got in. We waited another 10 minutes until it was our turn. I sat my daughter next to the E.B. It looked like he had a good hold on her so I backed away to try to make her smile. About 30 seconds later my daughter fell head first into the hard floor!!!!!!! here is our exact words.
ME: WHAT THE HELL? (runs to daughter and picks her up) (PTL): He cannot see in the suit, ma'am ME: If he can't see, THEN WHY THE HELL IS HE HOLDING CHILDREN!!! please call security!!!!....... 5 minutes later..... Two security guards come strolling up.
SECURITY: What seems to be the problem? ME: (Shaking and in tears) He dropped my daughter!! Security: what is your name and address? ME sad i answered.) Security: Let me call my boss down here ...2 minutes later...Security guards talking in a huddle...1 minute later The Boss: Ma'am I understand that you are upset, but you have to look at this from our point of view. The E.B. cannot actually hold the children because of the risk of a child molestation charge. We will have a talk with the E.B. and file a report but there is nothing more that we can do. ME: YES THERE IS! HE DROPPED MY DAUGHTER! FIRE HIM!!! Security: He has done nothing wrong ME: Why do you have an E.B. if you are worried about child molestaion? AND YES HE DID HE DROPPED HER! If that is all you are going to do i will never come back to this mall again! Boss: she is fine. she is not hurt. ME: how do you know you didn't even check her out?! (nobody did)
So I left the mall in a big huff. i headed straight to the E.R. I was there for 4 hours while the doctors ran tests and x-rays to make sure she was okay. She fell 2 feet. She got a clean bill of health.
i'm not sure if this is where it goes! if not feel free to move it

YOU'RE the customer, they should've done everything in their power to make you happy. stressed Make sure that you send them the bill from the ER.
It's our mall's policy that if you get hurt there (even if it's your fault) they have to have you fill out some paperwork and they pay for all doctor bills.
If your mall refuses to, I'd take them to court. evil

I find it really odd that they wouldn't at least post a warning for parents of small children. And yes, their attitude is awfully dismissive. Most malls do have a policy of some sort to handle injuries inside/on their premises, and should cover your medical expenses.
On the other hand, if it is part of the training for the guy in the suit not to hold onto kids it isn't, strictly speaking, his fault either. I'd be more upset with the mall, its policies, and its lack of warning about children's safety than with the guy in the suit.
I'm very *very* glad your daughter is okay. Fortunately, kids are pretty good at getting through horrifyingly nasty-looking falls without injury. They're built that way because they're more likely to have that type of accident when they're learning. It doesn't make it any less horrifying to the parents any time it happens, though. It's your baby, after all.

Wow! That makes me mad just reading about that. If he was not supposed to hold children then why did he take your daughter from you?!?

Wow, Im not one to sue or anything but in this case I probably would for at least the medical bills just because of the shitty attitude they possessed. I would want to teach them a lesson because that is ridiculous!!! SOOOOO glad your little one is ok though.

I would freaked out too. But at the same time, accidents happen. I highly doubt the person in that suit intended to do so. Can't you forgive someone for an accident? I understand how serious the situation could have been---you know, had the fall minorly or even seriously hurt your daughter. But still, you're right in being upset that he tried to hold her even though policy says he can't and that they did next to nothing about it. I agree with sending them (the managers of the EB photos/mall or whomever was in-charge of the event) the bill; but you can't be mad at the EB person directly unless you were 100% sure he wasn't following policy out of ignorance or choice. If he feels really bad about it, I'd feel bad too.
