1. Fetus.
2. That part of the episode really pisses me off, because it's terribly medically inaccurate. It's based on an urban legend based on a miscaptioned and senationalized photograph. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Snopes.com:

Don't click if you're squeamish.)A fetus cannot consciously reach out of the womb and grab the doctor's hand, because it is totally anesthesized. Even if it wasn't, a fetus is not capable of purposeful movement. Even a newborn isn't, really. In the real photograph that this scene in House is based on, the limb had fallen out and the doctor gently popped it back in.
I like the show, but I'm very dissapointed that they perpetuated this urban legend. It's medically inaccurate.
And besides, I like House because it isn't usually one of those sappy, heartfelt shows.
