Don't bite down on the reed, even through your lips. It makes a bad tone. Under NO circumstances shall you use a plastic/fiberglass reed, for these are a disgrace to reedkind. =] Sometimes it can sound to you like you're playing softer than you actually are. Watch out for this. In contrast, if you have a solo, play loud. Because if you don't it might be hard to hear you, because when you're nervous your embouchure tends to..die.
=]] I switched from Clari to oboe a couple months ago.

I tried it and it wasn't hard...
Just I didn't go out because we don't have enough clarinet players this year so I had to stay clarinet....

Oboe is wwwaaayyy harder...I play the oboe but when I tryed 2 play the clarenet I could do it just as well as them but they couldn't make a note on our instrument. Also the double reed makes it hard. My band director say the 3 hardest instruments 2 play R Oboe, Basson, and French Horn. Oboe and Basson rn't that diff. The Basson only has diff fingerings and is bigger.

If U switch 2 oboe, whatever U do, DON'T USE JONES REEDS!!! They R the Worst!!
