I know, a rather shocking statement, for a second there I refused to believe what I was hearing, but once I read the article I was rather shocked. I'm actually starting to believe that the Hummer may actually be friendlier to good old mother earth than the Prius.
http://clubs.ccsu.edu/recorder/editorial/editorial_item.asp?NewsID=188Of course, that doesn't mean the Hummer is environmentally friendly, just friendlier than this particular Japanese automobile, there are still many more friendlier alternatives.
Such as avoiding a new car and just buying an old car, that way you don't have to worry about scarring our planet in the search for the materials used in that car, you can actually think of it as recycling. (that's what I do, I drive an old '93 Lexus, still get's pretty good mileage, plus I rarely drive it).
Or, provided the mass transit system is that well developed, there's always the option of bus/rail travel, maybe you can even bike.
So, are any of you as shocked as I am? The symbol of the average American car owner that cares for their planet, when in fact it may really be doing a good deal of hurt.
UPDATE: Toyota...well, I'll let you figure this one out.
