I know, a rather shocking statement, for a second there I refused to believe what I was hearing, but once I read the article I was rather shocked. I'm actually starting to believe that the Hummer may actually be friendlier to good old mother earth than the Prius.

http://clubs.ccsu.edu/recorder/editorial/editorial_item.asp?NewsID=188

Of course, that doesn't mean the Hummer is environmentally friendly, just friendlier than this particular Japanese automobile, there are still many more friendlier alternatives.

Such as avoiding a new car and just buying an old car, that way you don't have to worry about scarring our planet in the search for the materials used in that car, you can actually think of it as recycling. (that's what I do, I drive an old '93 Lexus, still get's pretty good mileage, plus I rarely drive it).

Or, provided the mass transit system is that well developed, there's always the option of bus/rail travel, maybe you can even bike.

So, are any of you as shocked as I am? The symbol of the average American car owner that cares for their planet, when in fact it may really be doing a good deal of hurt.

UPDATE: Toyota...well, I'll let you figure this one out.

I know, right?

I felt the same way whenever I saw this information, rather shocked me.

Turns out that getting smaller cars might not work out to be the best decision either, in most cases they tend to have a shorter operational span than the regular automobile.

I still love that Obvio 828 though.

Uh oh, update, I'll leave it in the first post.

To summarize the article, Toyota essentially just got called out.

I think I've lost faith in Toyota.

Ditto
A lot of the stereotypes imagined about Texas are actually rather true, 'specially the part about everything being bigger, it's not just the insecure males that drive the big vehicles here.

What I really hate are those Toyota Tundras, funny how they strive to be environmentally friendly and try their best to produce cars with higher mileage whenever they're the same folks who produce that monstrosity.

Same goes for Yukons, and Escalades, ridiculous the size of those things.

Unfortunately, I see a lot of all of them.

Yeah, it makes sense, ive heard alot of people say that your just as well off getting the Yaris for an all around efficient vehicle. Another great one that im really excited about is the smart car from mercedes. www.smartusa.com this site tells all you need to know. The car is very green and so its the factory its made and developed in. There not very expensive either, im definitely going to buy one when they come out, which should be soon.
