Hangar ♠Bad news guys, I almost started a stencil last night, and my ******** exacto broke. My work is off until my mom gets me a new one. gonk ♠ Yanno they sell replacement blade things, right? They're only like 8 bucks and I have a little tube thing with about ten extras in it still. Unless you meant the handle part broke? Anyways, you make me wanna stencil more, hah. Still G.I.Z. the imagery that you are using is sooo overplayed sad like so played out its outrageous sad i think you should try to stay away from cliche imagery like elvis, monroe, etc. and maybe head in a direction that expresses yourself more? but i love stenciling so dont stop!!! n_n I tend to think that way about anyone who draws anime... LOLOOOOlz.

Still G.I.Z. i usually work with poster board or if i can be extra sneaky i take some matte board from art class n_n it's sturdy enough to withstand tearing, it's usually big, and easier to cut then cardboard. that one was on poster board, unfinished. oi i thought you finished that one. and what's matte board?

Hangar ♠would doing a stencil of a girl I like be too cliche?♠ The idea might be a little cliched, but it would be original, and really sweet, haha. I think it depends on the execution. I think you could make it work :}

Pocky-chan Hangar ♠Wow. I was really not expecting that reply. Thank you very much!
I used photo paper. See, if you cut into the shiny side, it cuts really easy, and you can get some really fine details. Also, if anyone ever says "Use a sponge and you can get amazing results!" Shoot them in the head. If you're going to make a stencil, do it right, or not at all. xd ♠ Seconded photo paper. I use regular sketchbook pages if it's a one-off stencil, but for repetitive usage, photopaper is A+. And 2iYo, did you mean celluloid sheets (aka overhead transparencies)? Cause those seem to work pretty well for me D:, I had them laying around anyways for silkscreening, but the only thing is your knife has to be pretty sharp or it buckles when you try to cut sometimes. And I use sponge rollers when I'm doing it on fabric, one cause I don't want any over/underspray and two, cause then I can put in textile medium (so it'll actually stay on the fabric) or sparkles or whatever else. I think the elitists who say everything stencilled should be spraypainted are idiots. If you're just hitting walls, signs or windows, sure, but if it's something legal, spraypainting just makes everything look wannabe DIY. I also kind of agree with G.I.Z., although the fact that you freehanded I think makes up for it. So many people just go online and get pictures, then polarize them in photoshop, but someone who draws out their stencils has a place in my heart :} Keep it coming~! It was sort of like a thinner version of a transparency; it came in a huge roll and i cut out a piece of it to use. i think i put too much detail in the stencil? cause when i spray painted it, it seeped under, and it started to make the plastic sticky etc etc panic ensued, spray paint got all over my hand, but the pictures looks ok :] holy poo i'm rambling
