Hey, I just thought I'd mention that if anyone is into playing video games, I have found the Final Fantasy IX to be similar in many many ways. I am in no way saying this is a substitute for the Lupin III series, I just thought the similarities were...scary. X3

1. ~ The main character is a thief, who happens to be part monkey...(or in the very least he has a tail.)

2. ~ The thief Zidane is persued by a knight named Captain Adelbert Stiener who looks suspiciously like Zenigata.

3. ~ Amarant is definitely no substitute for Jigen, but his attitude can almost match, not to mention check out that 'eye poking beard'. XD

I had at least 2 more....but it still, may have been a stretch....

heh...just sayin'...

That is interesting. I need to get that game back from my friend. xp

I had a similar thought with Earth Bound some time back. Four main characters, three guys and a girl, one of the guys being the random out of place samurai type guy. I don't remember anything else about the game, though. XD

Yeah I think that character in IX is definitely a homage to Zenigata and I can see the Lupin characteristics in Balthier in XII (is that his name? I haven't played the game, I'm going off what my friend has told me about the character and why I'd like him).

It's not unusual to see homages to Lupin in games and anime in Japan since it's so popular there. It's one of those franchises that every Japanese person is familiar with, like Doraemon or Gundam. So it's kind of a cultural icon.

Yeah, actually that is his name. And yes. Lupin is much much more like Balthier than Zidane.

I'm just a really really big fan of 'pops'. So I really liked Steiner. *lol*

I know it's not that much. I just that I'd make mention of it.
