fenz1987 The boys are sooo shy, oh my gosh and the girls don't seem to be all that shy, tho ugh I must say I don't know many Japanese girls ( I mean I don't know them well enough to have talked with them about dating an d stuff).. Also, girls seem to like dating foreigners even if they don't speak English and the foreigners don't speak Japanese..And from what I've seen that brings a lot of white guys to Japan lol.. Even the ones that aren't exactly whats considered attractive in the West walk around Tokyo with a super pretty Japanese girl clinging onto their arm... oddness xD Yeah...my sensei told me that in Japan, the guys are always just waiting and the girls always take the first initiative..

` M a n g o I'm quite sure some japanese people take dating casually =O Japanese people [that I know] will not hesitate to send chocolates to the people they like at school. Usually they even try to talk to them [despite their unforgiving shy personality] And confess o_________o But I guess long-term marriage is serious ><
I find that so cute. They're braver than me. blaugh

When I was there, I almost got asked out once, I think, though it would rather go against the white male-Japanese female that seems so common. I was in Kendo (big, buff, blonde girl...) Club at school, and it was coed with the Danshibu nearby, and one day when I wasn't practicing I heard them all discussing how to say "I love you" and such in English. Not sure quite what it says for the dating scene, since obviously I wasn't part of it (they never worked up the courage, and I had a boyfriend anyhow), but I do think that if you wanted to go to Japan in hopes of finding a Japanese partner (whether that's your primary purpose or not - I know lots of people like that...), then you have a relatively good chance of finding one, if simply because the younger generations (if not the older - not sure) are attracted to foreigners, for the most part.
If you want a deeper relationship, as was discussed in the first part, well, then just take this as it being easier to start a relationship, or to open up to the possibility of a relationship, so that you can actually have that, because it's a wonderful thing. And there may be some legitimacy behind attraction towards Japanese people (on the part of whomever), as there is a cultural/societal difference in how they act in general as opposed to how Americans or Europeans act. Not every girl fits the mould (nor every boy), but the fact is that such things do exist to a great extent.
