I would say no. There is no need to have more gold than you need to buy the things you need. Some people are just so plain happy to have lots of gold, but I guess they don't have a life... It doesn't mean naything if you are rich or not, as long as you get by and survive xd

Final_Rest Gold doesn't matter, if you wanna buy your mount there's awlays silver or copper =P That is ture, plus there is the hilarious bonus where the mount vendor has to count out to make sure you gave him 10,000 silver or 1,000,000 copper depending on which you choose.

To put it simply: If you want awesome items, you'll probably need to get the cash to get 'em first. Like yesterday. I had been running around with some Dagger of the Bear or something like that. I went and visited the Weaponsmith in XR.
Uber-awesome dagger! 23-48 damage. 2 gold and some odd silver. You better bet I forked out some of my 10 gold to get that.

Gold is only good for enchants and mounts, other than that you dont need it.

xD Never mind weapon/armour upgrades, flight costs, repair bills, food/water, mail costs, auctionhouse deposits, skill training, spell training, and about a hundred other uses for gold.
Yes, you do need gold.
