I don't read a lot of horror novels, but I have read a good deal of horror short fiction.
Lovecraft is by far my favorite; it takes quite a bit to actually unsetlle me, and even after having reading all of his works, re-reading a story can give me that uncomfortable disquiet. No author has ever made me feel so alone and tiny amidst a sea of horrors that I'm not even aware of.
I also enjoy a lot of Poe's short stories - the man had a mastery of the english language that few can duplicate.
