As Tawni went to put a book on the shelf, she noticed that another was in the wrong place. Sighing in exhasperation, she pulled the book off the shelf and left the cart where it was. She disappeared down a different isle to put the mis-shelved book where it belonged.
She didn't return.

Shan started to panic. Carefully he slid of the cart and climbed a shelf, his shadow form blending to hide him. He looked around.

Tawni had put the misshelved book back in it's rightful place. But as she had turned to return to her cart, someone clad in black had grabbed her from behind and clamped his or her hand over Tawni's mouth so she couldn't make a sound.
"I want information...give it to me and your passing will be quick," the assassin whispered maliciously in her ear.

Shan stalked around the shelfs, he listened intently. He could hear a slight slip of speech. He had to be close. Silently the shadow of Shan slid up, down and around shelves until he spotted Tawni in the clunches of a masked person. Shan seethed.

Tawni was terrified as the assassin brought a knife to her throat. If she screamed, no one would hear her. "What makes you think I know anything?" she asked as the assassin removed his hand from her mouth.
"We over heard you speaking with the traitors...where are they?" the assassin told her as he pressed the tip of his blade beneath Tawni's chin.

That set Shan off. Quickly he shifted to normal and latched onto the assasins hand the was holding the knife. yanking the arm back Shan snatched the knife and the threw the assasin into a book shelf.

Tawni scrambled away as Shan freed her...heaven only knew how relieved she was.
The assassin struck Shan hard across the face, fighting against him.

Shan stumbled back, and shifted to a shadow then shifting back behind the attacker. Shan headlocked the assasin, his intent was to knock out the attacker out and bring him along for questioning.

A lightning spell of unknown origin suddenly hit the assassin, reducing him to ashes as Shan held him still. Tawni stood a distance back, a formidable looking staff in her hands.

Shan brushed the ash off of his arms in disappointment. He looked up at Tawni in slight surprise.
"We need to leave now." Shan said walking to her, his usually joking and funny self vanished with the seriousness of the situation.

Tawni was breathing hard. She felt her body shaking violently, and her knees buckled. She dropped to the floor, moments from blacking out. She had never killed someone before...she usually just defended herself with illusion...but not this time.

Shan gathered her up, so he could carry her. There could possibly be other assasins about.
"Tawni listen to me, concentrate on my voice. Dont black out on me, please." Shan whispered, quietly he tried to find his way out.

Tawni tried to listen and obey him...but couldn't. She went limp in his arms.

Shan sighed, and slid against the wall finding his why around, he found and exit and slipped into the night.
