That's why I don't like them. Not cool.
They also pressure business into not servicing clinic workers, or taking people to the clinics, which is illegal. Even pro-life people. "If you don't go to jail because I think you should break the law, you're not pro-life enough!" Wtf.
That, and they sometimes target children, pulling them over an showing them pictures of aborted babies, then pointing at the clinic worker's house and saying, "That's what this lady does. If you know her, please ask her to stop killing babies."
I think that's horrible. When I have kids, I most certainly do not want to show them pictures of aborted children. It's not a nice sight. I also won't show them pictures of women giving birth. They can see those things when they hit their teens and are mature enough to understand them, but before then, all it does is scare them.

Lorysa Well, as for birthing, I used to watch Baby Story all the time even when I was little, I turned out fine... sweatdrop No - you turned out great. When I have kid(s), I wouldn't want to force them to see anyone giving birth. But I also wouldn't forbid them to see a woman giving birth either. My sister saw me being born. And she was, like 2 1/2. She turned out mostly fine. *wink*

Terje saw it and now he doesn't want kids xd Works for me for the time being.
I won't prohibit them from seeing things....but I don't want people on the street stopping them and going, "THIS IS ABORTION!"
I'm pro-life. I don't think anyone in here doubts that (and if they do, well, okay, good for you). But I don't want to indoctrinate my children with fear and nightmares. I want them to share my beliefs, yes, but I don't think I need to scare them to make my point. If someone else does it, I'm going to be livid. As a babysitter, a sister, a cousin, a friend, I can tell all of y'all that this stuff does NOT sit right with me. I don't care if it will get children to be pro-life, if we can't do that without scaring people, then our stance isn't very good and we shouldn't hold it.
Just like with Michael Moore. If he needs to lie and mislead people to make his documentaries, he shouldn't be holding that stance. Other people don't need to lie and mislead people to get their points across, so he should be able to do the same, and if he's incapable of it, or if he's just doing it to get money, then I see no reason to listen to him.

lymelady I don't care if it will get children to be pro-life, if we can't do that without scaring people, then our stance isn't very good and we shouldn't hold it. Yes! I wonder if scare tactics cause that many people to become Pro-Life, and how long they work for? One problem with using scare tactics is that you have to be able to back them up. To go wildly offtopic, DARE scared a lot of kids into not using marijuana when they were in Grade School (when they weren't likely to use it anyway). But once they got to High School or College, they realized that many of the horror stories they had been told about it were lies. This caused many people to not only distrust the anti-pot propaganda, but the valid information about harder drugs. DARE has been found to either have no effect on future drug use, or to actually cause more drug use (depending on the study). When it comes to most things, in my opinion, simple explanations and facts far outweigh scare tactics. lymelady Just like with Michael Moore. If he needs to lie and mislead people to make his documentaries, he shouldn't be holding that stance. Other people don't need to lie and mislead people to get their points across, so he should be able to do the same, and if he's incapable of it, or if he's just doing it to get money, then I see no reason to listen to him. Does he often outright lie? I know his movies are biased (though often entertaining), but I wasn't aware that he was making stuff up. I don't think people should listen to him, other than for entertainment purposes. I think that he sometimes calls attention to certain issues (I really liked Bowling for Columbine) but I don't think that people should blindly trust what he (or just about anyone else) says.

The teachers put on a tape of a woman giving birth and my friend passed out during it. I guess it was a little too much for him. When I have kids someday I doubt I'll even let them watch the news let alone a live birth or show them aborted fetii pics (I dunno why anyone would show people aborted fetii pics to anyone period. It's just disgusting). sweatdrop I'll probably turn out like my mom and be way too overprotective of my children. Yeah, violence and things that may make you nauseas I would never let my kids see until they were old enough to understand it.

  He's lied about people before.
He said 200,000 Americans die each year from mad cow disease, he lied about campaign contributions to Bush (his source says a completely different thing than what he says it says...that actually happens a lot.), he lied about Fred Barnes and his knowledge of classical literature, he lied about how many people were barred from voting in Florida, they lied about which News Station reported Bush's win first (in reality it was CBS, not Fox), like Peer said, he lied about being denied an interview with Roger Smith, he lied about how money is being used, I can go on.
He also distorts things. He changes timelines, cuts and pastes things from different time periods to make it look like it's one whole speech, and yes, Bowling For Columbine is full of things like this, even though it does highlight an important point. It takes credibility away from the subject though when his lies are exposed.
