I wouldn't say that Angie isn't a morning person. Sometimes, she really loves mornings, and will annoy anyone who has the misfortune to come across her at such an early hour; other times, though, she'll just throw a pillow at the open window and try to go back to sleep.

I'll give you three guesses as to how she was feeling that morning, first two don't count.

"So.. you're, like.. a spirit," she said dumbly, her eyes trying to adjust to the poor lighting. The spirit had taken refuge in the corner of the room. "Kinda funny-looking for a spirit, aren't you?"

The spirit made a face at her and sank further back into the wall.

"Can't you, like, slip through walls or something?"

It stared at her funny.

Angie hesitated. She was running out of interesting things to say. In her mind, a roulette started, a great roulette of ultimate doom that would decide her next move.

Rat-rat-rat-rat-ding.

"I heard you're gonna make Bob here a'splode," she said, inching closer to the relic. "He doesn't, like, owe you money or something, right?"

The spirit blinked stupidly at her, then looked back at the relic. It certaintly looked strange. Even from a distance, he could sense the magic power pulsating through it. Who could have the power to make something like that, though?

He took another look at Angie, and in his mind crossed her out.

She watched with some slight amusement the spirit's expression as it changed. "Well.. y'know.. if Bob here owes you money.. and you blow it up.. you.. like.. might never get it back," she said slowly, as if she were trying to explain this concept to herself more than anyone else.

The spirit stared blankly at her, then nodded slowly.

..this was going to be a long day.

Angie quietly shut the door behind her, head bowed. Cerena blinked and looked up from her book. "Something up, Ang?"

Angie stared blankly at her.

"...uh.." Cerena blinked.

"The little dude..."

"What? What little dude?"

"He.. he kicked me out.."

There was a long silence.

"..I think I'm going to go to the library. Or.. something.."

Alone at last; it seemed as if that strange girl would never leave. She.. was nice enough, perhaps, but right now he just needed to look around. Staring at her with his most beady gaze seemed to work quite well, for some reason. He got to his feet slowly, casting a glance at the fallen gumball a short distance from him; it was quite colourful.. alluring, somehow. After a moment's thought, he shrugged, focusing most of his energy into his arm and tucking the gumball under it. It wasn't so bad, being a spirit.. but..

Now that that was taken care of, he looked around the room. It was quite large (at least, to him it was), illuminated dimly by a ring of paper lanterns around the ceiling. A shelf was set into one of the walls, on which sat a great many things -- the only thing that really caught his attention, though, was a small bag of multicoloured gumballs, akin to his own. He hesitated. How would he get up there..?

His expression twisted into a frown. It was unlikely he would reach it without that odd girl's help, and she was probably gone by now. Sigh.

He forced himself to continue looking on the shelf. There was a small, flat, silver disc-like object, with strange earmuff-like things attached to it. Next to it were small, square, flat objects with lots of different things on them. They shined a little in the light. And strange cylinder things.

Next were a few small boxes (next to the bag of gumballs, but he forced himself to focus on the boxes) -- navy, with strange writing on them. He had found that it was very hard to read the writing on them from down there, so he stopped.

On the next shelf was a pack of small candles, a leather-bound journal, some blankets, pillows, and some clothing articles. The blankets and the pillows had pleasant patterns on them. Maybe this girl wasn't so bad, after all..?

Holding this thought, he turned and looked at the ceiling again. A blue dreamcatcher swung lightly in the warm breeze from the window in the center of the ceiling. He looked down again. A stump sat under the dreamcatcher.

...a... a stump?

Pushing the nagging feeling of dread to the back of his mind, he cautiously stepped towards it. Now that he was closer, he could see the runes engraved on it -- definately not the work of that girl, he decided. A few feathers stuck out of it. They seemed.. familiar.. somehow..

Hesitating for a moment, he stuck out his hand to gently touch one. His hand was met with a strange feeling; somewhat like static shock, but this you felt through your whole body. He quickly pulled his hand back. That.. was not pleasant. He finally knew what this stump was for -- and he knew that he would have to watch these people much longer before he tried to make contact with it again.

He nodded to himself, then walked back to the corner, plunked himself down, and stuck the gumball in his head, emitting a small sound of pleasure as he made contact with the sugar. It was almost as if he were tasting it.

Angie pursed her lips, trying to concentrate on her book.. and failing miserably. Her hands were shaking visibly, and all she could think about was that little spirit she had encountered just a short while ago. Did she do everything right? Was it going to stay? Did it like her? And, most importantly, was the meaning of life 42?

...well, maybe not that important. But it was pretty pressing!

She sighed and rubbed her eyes. It didn't seem very.. energetic. It was supposed to be a hummingbird, right? And.. hummingbirds were supposed to be.. more energetic than that. Then again, it must've been pretty mellowed out after... whatever happened, happened.. right?

Angie bit her lip and absentmindedly toyed with the feather in her hair that Bob had given her. Was the.. the Ieldi kid going to be different than she thought it would?

.. She'd probably have to wait and see. She nodded inwardly, then went back to her books.

"Uhm.. onee-san... I'm home," Angie called, taking off her shoes and leaving them at the door before stepping inside. She was really achey since that morning, and the walk up the clocktower didn't help any. Scratching her nose, she gently pushed open the door to her and Bob's room and looked around wearily.

The spirit was sitting on top of her CD player. He looked up, floating around in his head something that looked like.. a gumball?

"..Bedtime," she said weakly, stumbling over to her makeshift bed and flopping down. She was asleep before her head hit the pillow.

The girl looked like she had passed out. He slumped a little. Great. Now he'd have to wait until morning to bug her about that bag of sugar balls.

He put his hands on his knees and waited.

Angie was faintly aware that it was morning. What she was more aware of, though, was how comfortable her nice warm bed was. Nice.. fluffy.. perfectly warm.. she moaned and turned over onto her side, perfectly ready to go back to sleep. At least, if it didn't feel as if she had just dunked her head in a bucket of cold water.

The teal-haired girl gasped and sat upright, clutching at her clothing and staring fearfully at her pillow. Her pillow stared back -- rather, the semi-translucent spirit sitting on it did. She gaped blankly, then closed her eyes, trying to gain her bearings. "..did.. did you need.. something?"

The spirit looked pointedly to the side. Angie followed his gaze to a small white lump on the ground. She furrowed her brow, leaning forward to poke it gently -- why, it was an old gumball that looked as if it had been spat out of someone's mouth a while ago. The colour had been drained from it, and it was probably tasteless.

Angie paused, then turned her head to the spirit. "You.. you wanted another one?"

The spirit stared, and nodded, pointing to the bag of gumballs on the shelf. Angie bit her lip, and shrugged, pulling herself up and to the shelf and taking the bag down. The spirit watched carefully as she poked at the gumballs a bit, and then pulled out a bright-coloured one. "Would blue be good?" She said meekly, waiting for the spirit's reaction (which, thankfully, was positive) before tying the bag shut again and putting it back on the shelf. She inched back to the spirit, gumball in her fingers, and knelt down in front of it, hesitating somewhat before shyly popping the gumball into where she believed his mouth was. The spirit's eyes drooped a little, and Angie was somewhat relieved to hear him make a small happy sound before standing up and plopping himself down in the corner, the gumball floating freely around in his head.

She paused. "I must be crazy," she decided, shaking her head before getting up and pulling her bedclothes off.

Quinn
Quinn trudged down the Home Tree, laden with a satchel and dragging a large canvas sack along behind her. She had heard that Angie was going to have a hummingbird spirit and her few encounters with the girl had not left her with much confidence that she would be prepared for the emmense responibility. Quinn was concerned that the thing would starve and it was because of this concern that Quinn found herself dragging a large sack of sugar and a big jar of honey down to Angie's home.

Angie
Angie mumbled, scratching her head as she stepped out of the house for a morning breeze. She was in her pajamas, AKA her regular clothes -- it was nice outside, like it probably ALWAYS was, twenty-four seven. For some reason, she was starting to miss Durem..

When she heard something dragging along the ground. It sounded like a sack. Omigawd, maybe someone was killed and the body was shoved into the sack! She started to hyperventilate and whipped around quickly, then whipped around the other way and saw.. Quinny.

"OH, QUINNY!" She wailed, wringing her hands. "PLEASE DON'T TELL ME YOU JUST MURDERED SOME RICH DUDE AND THE BODY'S IN THE SACK AND ALL HIS LIFE SAVINGS ARE IN THE JAR?!"

Quinn
Quinn stopped dead in her tracks at the strange girl's outburst. What have I gotten my self into... Taking a deep breathe and squaring her shoulders, she replied reassuringly, "Um...there's sugar in the sack and honey in the jar... we can pretend its a body and money if you want to, but I just brought it down for your Ieldi when it's reborn. I heard you were having a hummingbird type and you really have to feed them alot... I thought this might help."

Angie
Angie paused. A grin covered her face now, and she ran up to Quinny and hugged her around the waist. "Thank you so much! That's really nice of you," she said, stepping back and practically beaming as she leaned over to look at the sack of sugar.

Nope, definately not a body.

"..Oh! Here, let me help you with that," she said hurriedly, grabbing the jar and Quinn's hand in her other. "You might want to be quiet," she said, biting her lip. "There's a spirit in my room right now.."

Quinn
Quinn lifted her arms in confusion as Angie bent practically double to hug her around the waist. Then, when the girl rifled through her satchel for the honey, she was spun around as she grabbed her hand. At the mention of a spirit, however, Quinn perked up. "You've got one too? How glorious!"

Angie
"Yuh," she said. She looked slightly distressed. "I don't think it likes me much right now, though.. it's.. staring at me.. and it's kind of creepy, 'cause it stuck this gumball in its head.. and.. and, uh.."

Pause.

"Too?" She said, blinking. Something dawned on her. "Oh, you've got a spirit too? That's so cool," she squealed. "What's yours like?"

Quinn
"In it head?!" Quinn exclaimed, dumbfounded. "Oh, well, she's brownish, like the feathers on the relic and she likes to play in glitter. Kinda quiet tho... we did manage to play charades long enough that I figured out that she wants me to call her 'Speck.' I have a picture of her if you would like to see it."

Angie
"Yeah, I.. I dunno how it got there," she said distractedly, pushing the door to the house open with her foot. She stepped in quickly and held it open for Quinn. "Oh, once we put everything up, I'd love to see it!"

Quinn
Quinn stumbled through the door, dragging the heavy sack behind her. Miraculously, it never got snagged by a rouge bit of wood during any of the dragging she had subjected it too. Peering around carefully, so as not to frighten the spirit, she took in Angie's humble abode. "Where would you like me to put this?" she asked, indicating the sack of sugar.

Angie
"Uhm.. any old corner is good," she said, closing the door with her foot and dashing over to the cupboards built into the wall. "I can just drag it to wherever I need.. if I need it.. I wonder how long it'll last," she said, a slightly mortified tone in her voice as she turned her head to stare at the sack.

Quietly, a purple-blue spirit slipped through the wall of Angie and Bob's room to see what the commotion was about. There was a slight klunk as the gumball hit the wall and rolled off to the center of the room. He frowned slightly, and looked up at Quinn slowly; with a squeak, he zoomed back into the room.

Quinn
Quinn drug the sack to lean against the closest wall. Hearing a klunk, her head swiveled to find the source of the noise. All she caught was a slight purple streak... "Oh no!" Quinn exclaimed, face crumbling. "I scared it! I'm so sorry."

Angie
Angie whipped around and blinked; like a deer in the headlights, they say. "Wha? Uh.. oh no, I'm sure it's all okay," she urged, casting a glance at the door. "I'm sure he'll be really happy about this stuff, anyway, so no damage done!" She beamed.

Quinn
Quinn hoped she hadn't scared it away for good, she knew she should have waited til it was reborn to bring this stuff down. Looking at the wall the spirit disappeared through with disgust in herself, she fumbled to find someway to really show she was sorry. Funny thing was, the girl didnt seem to mind.

Angie
Angie rocked on the balls of her heels quietly, staring steadily at the door. The slight sound of a gumball being picked up could be heard. "He's still there," she said confidently, grinning.

A pause. "Oh! What about that picture?" She said, practically beaming.

Quinn
"Oh. Right." Quinn was pulled out of her reverie by her pride at her own spirit. Reaching into her back pocket, she pulled out a picture that was only slightly worse for wear from its time near her bottom. "Here she is." Quinn pointed proudly. "Doesnt she have the cutest bottom?!"

Angie
She leaned over the picture and let out an 'aww,' biting her knuckles. "She really is cute! I want to pinch her bottom now.. blargh.."

Quinn
"She is cute, isn't she..." Quinn smiled fondly at the picture and then transfered that smile to Angie. "Thanks! Heehee. I want to pinch her bottom too! Need any help with anything else?"

Angie
"Don't think so," she said, looking around the home. "I bet she'll be really cute when she's reborn, too.. hmm.. I really can't tell what mine will be like," she said, biting her lip. "He's been really blank so far.."

Quinn
Quinn patted Angie on the head, smiling and replying, "I'm sure he will be fabulous. I cant wait for our children to meet. Sorry I can't stay longer, but I need to get down the tree to feed my boys. See you later. If you need me, please just stop by!" Quinn waved as she opened the door and left.

Angie
"Goodbye!" She called, waving after Quinn. She was still grinning as the door shut. She stood there for a few moments, then snuck over to the bag of sugar and poked it a few times.

..okay, time to go talk to meestre spirit.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 16, 2005 4:49 pm

Angie sighed and scratched her head, staring at the door to her and Bob's room, which was shut. What if the spirit didn't want to stay anymore? Did she do something wrong? Hadn't she gotten most of the things a hummingbird would like? What if..!?

She shook her head, trying to rid herself of the distressing thoughts. It was bad enough already without her mind blowing everything out of proportion. Trying to ignore how her hands were shaking, she reached out to touch the doorknob, and slowly turned it, pushing forward..

And blinked.

The spirit looked like it was talking to Iol, who was sitting calmly on Bob. The spirit looked almost like a rainbow, but that was probably because it had so many different-coloured gumballs floating in its body. ... wait, what!? Her eyes darted up to the bookshelf -- the bag of candy had been tipped over and only a few remained in the bag. Some were still rolling around on the ground.

.. ooo-kay..

Something purple flashed by the side of her head. Angie twisted to see what it was. Iol looked incredibly irritated and was flying out the front door of their home.. hey, wait, what? She turned back to the room to see the spirit bending over to pick up one of the Gembird's purple gem-encrusted feathers and stick the feather on the top of its head, where it waved like a banner.

She stared blankly as the spirit ran across the room, pell-mell, into a wall. It fell over, and the gumballs rolled all over the floor of the room, bouncing off one another. One rolled to Angie's feet.

... what the..?

"Come on," Angie said gently. "I really need to talk to you -- a serious talk. Will you listen?"

The spirit blinked, but nodded nonetheless.

She sighed in relief. "I need to know.." She nervously tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Where do you live? Do you have a home?"

A .. home? That word was familiar.. somehow.. but he couldn't put his finger on it. After a moment of thinking, he shook his head.

Angie gasped. "You mean.. you're homeless?!"

Before the spirit even had time to reply, she ran over to the closet and rummaged through the clothes packed in there, pulling out a Kodak camera. He barely had time to wince when she snapped a picture of him, then rocked on the balls of her feet, waiting for the picture to proccess and come out. When it did, she grabbed it and shook it feverently while grabbing her coat, pulled it up one arm and ran out the door. "I'llbebacklaterdon'tworrybye!"

He frowned in confusion, looked around quietly, then grabbed Iol's feather and stuck it back in his head.
