Entry o1 :: Kanpai! Banzai! Baby at an Enkai!?Song :: "FRONTIER" by the Yoshida BrothersLocation :: Youjoukan (Japanese Inn) :: Lake Togo, Central Tottori Today's Words to Live By :: "Affinity is a mysterious thing, but it is spicy!" (Japanese Proverb)"A teachers' over night drinking party is no place for an infant," one annoyed attendant said to another while staring at Yusuke in disgust. "What kind of idiot brings a kid with him?" Yusuke Morimoto did. However, he was no idiot. The twenty-six year old PE teacher’s burden was the aromatic, copper topped bundle in his arms, but the bevy of ladies from other parties huddled around the pair of them, trying to get his attention. With his boyish good looks, athletic physique, and impeccable manners, Yusuke went for the coup de grace by showing up at the party with his new baby… brother. Many of the PE teachers mentioned the new 'breath of fresh air' in the kendo gym, but none of them were expecting it to be a life-size, pear scented air freshener named Yazu. Yazu ate up the affection the female teachers paid him. They blew raspberries on his chubby belly, ruffled his crazy baby hair, and took turns rocking him one by one. His bright green eyes flashed in amusement as they made silly faces and animal noises. He particularly liked the tiger growling, though his version sounded more like a cat meowing mixed with baby gurgling. He liked the ladies, but favored Renka the most out of all of them. Unfortunately, Renka couldn't attend the party, so Yazu cozied up to the new unfamiliar faces instead, while Yusuke leaned back and enjoyed his shochu. "Yucchan, you never told us how little Yacchan came into your life," a younger science teacher said, refilling Yusuke's nearly empty glass with ice and alcohol. "With as hard as you work, I never thought you would have time for a child." Yusuke took his cup appreciatively, and leaned back against the wall. Running his calloused fingers through his long, ebony hair, he gave an amused smirk. That certainly was a story best told when others were drunk, as very few of them would believe him if they were sober. Looking at the sun setting over Lake Togo, Yusuke took a long sip of his drink before setting it back on the table. "I decided to take a hike up to Amedaki Falls in Kokufu over the weekend, before heading over to the Sand Dune to watch the sunset. The kendo club finally decided they needed a day off from practice, so I had my first free Saturday in ages," Yusuke started slowly with a dreamy look in his eyes. Before he continued, Yazu squirmed and groped for his 'big brother', so he cradled the child while the ladies swooned at his paternal instinct with the child. "It was the strangest thing. I was sitting atop the dune drinking some tea, when I felt a shift in the wind. Suddenly, the scent of fresh pear danced on the breeze, and out of nowhere, I found this little guy rolling around in the sand and playing with a crab.""So you just took him!? You didn't stop to think that he might belong to some foreign couple visiting Tottori?" A math teacher snorted, shaking his drunken head in disbelief. "If you didn’t want to tell us that you knocked up some foreign girl, you should have just said so." Audible gasps and whispering flooded the room. None of them second guessed Yusuke's intentions with the child until that teacher blurted out the uncalled for comment. Suddenly, many of them stared at Yazu in a different light. He did have vibrant red hair and gorgeous green eyes, traits not found in 'pure' Japanese. The strange green markings on the child’s skin looked like tattoos, and only wild, scary foreigners did those sorts of things. The child did appear out of no where, and Yusuke tended to him without assistance from his own parents. The young PE teacher also had a flock of foreign friends from when he studied abroad in the States, England, and Australia. Though Yusuke was full-blooded Japanese, he only acted it when necessary, which caused several more eyebrows to raise in suspicion. Several of the more skeptical men and women began closing in around Yusuke and the child, each desperate to get a better look at Yazu .The tension made Yazu fussy. He only enjoyed being the center of attention when it didn’t interfere with his comfort level. He squirmed in Yusuke’s arms almost begging him to take him somewhere else. For the child’s sake, the young man took a pair of towels and walked out onto the veranda where a small hot tub overlooking the lake steamed in the cold March wind. He shot a look of frustration and disappointment back at the party which had sufficiently been ruined for him. Drawing the curtain across the entry to the men’s bath, Yusuke took a deep breath, and looked down at little bundle in his arms. "All right Big Man, bath time," Yusuke smiled, giving Yazu a macho wink as he slung the towels over his shoulder. "Old school, just the way you like it."The assumption that Yazu was the b*****d child of Yusuke's quickly became the topic of tipsy gossip, more so after the young teacher abruptly left the party without confirming or denying the math teacher’s callous statement. Several of the younger teachers, especially the ladies, praised Yusuke's cool and level headed manner in such a situation. Knowing how hot-blooded and fierce the kendo coach was, many of them agreed that it was rather out of character for him to be so nonchalant and silent about the situation. However, several of the more sober teachers helped to dispel any possible rumors. The reminded the rumor mill that every story has some grain of truth within it, and they should not trust everything they hear while intoxicated. Meanwhile, Yazu cooed in relief. He knew that Yusuke was not only different, but special, which is why his spirit was attracted to the kendo coach in the first place. Though many people considered Yusuke Morimoto to be rather progressive and modern, certain qualities about his soul and spirit were from a time long past. Yazu found it comforting and reassuring, hence the little baby found himself a new father. He squirmed as Yusuke bathed him, his supple tanned skin developed twinges of pink from the cold air and the hot water. Yusuke slicked Yazu's thick, red hair back and set a small hand towel on the infant’s head. Before climbing into the tub, he wrapped his long black hair in a towel while making funny faces with Yazu. Holding the baby in one arm, he used the other to help him settle down in the hot water. "Let's go to Enchoen Chinese Gardens tomorrow, Yacchan," Yusuke said with a nasal voice, as Yazu clamped his hands on the man's nose. "We can watch the turtles and the mandarin ducks swim, and we'll get some pear ice cream, ne."Yazu squealed in delight. He didn't understand many words, but he knew when Yusuke talked about food. A definite advantage about living with a physical education teacher, with Yusuke's high metabolism and demanding work, they were always eating. Yazu 'growled' and made the tiger face again, before turning his bright eyes to the horizon to watch the sunset with his new hero. P.S. "When your companions get drunk and fight, Take up your hat, and wish them good night." (Japanese Proverb)

Entry o2 :: Song :: "Freedom" ("Jiyuu") by the 12 Girls BandLocation :: Enchoen (Chinese Gardens) :: Yurihama Town, Central Tottori Shiokaze no Oka Tomari (Park) :: Tomari Town, Central Tottori Today's Words to Live By :: "A merry companion on the road is as good as a nag." (Japanese Proverb)The next morning, Yusuke left before breakfast time, leaving behind only a note and his neatly folded linens. Though Yazu slept soundly through the nice, Yusuke was not so fortunate. His mother always told him never to go to bed angry, but the tactless words of his coworker kept him awake the majority of the night. A man who cheated on his wife and beat his children was in no positon to criticise Yusuke for taking in an orphaned child, especially one as energetic and charismatic as Yazu. Unwilling to subject Yazu to the stale tension and hangovers, he decided to get an early start on their adventure together. Pulling his swish, black Honda Odessey into the parking lot, he gave Yazu a smirk as he placed the car into park. "We're here, Buddy! Ready to see some dragons? Or ducks at least?" Yusuke chuckled, opening the back door and taking the little guy from his car seat. Taking in the sweet pear scent of Yazu's skin, Yusuke laughed at Yazu clamped his little hand on his nose, giving it a huge honk. Yusuke blurted out a beeping sounds, much to his little companion's delight. The warm sunshine recharged and energized Yazu. What he liked about Yusuke was that he talked to Yazu sensibly, not filling his head with nonsensical words. Though he didn't understand what his dad said to him most of the time, he could distinguish between proper speech and babbling. He loved the strength and sound of Yusuke's voice. It comforted him, like a warm blanket or home made food. Gripping his dad's nose, Yazu's green eyes widened in surprised when Yusuke's nose beeped back at him. Squeezing it a second time, he giggled happily as Yusuke put him in his carrier.Walking along the stone bridge that over looked the park, Yusuke and Yazu paused to take in the view of the gardens from a higher elevation. The long veranda linked several gazebos together was a merry-go-round of color, was intricately painted and lined the walk along the egde of the lake. The center of the gardens were a maze of paths and viewing ponds. It was the perfect place for a Saturday morning adventure. Continuing along the bridge, they made their way toward the large stone walls and gate. The ticket agent smiled at the duo, as she adjusted her cheongsam and pushed hair out of her face. Yazu waved at the pretty lady, but Yusuke entered the gardens hastily when she summoned her coworkers to look at the baby. He knew that a large group of strangers would upset Yazu, so he wanted to avoid that if at all possible. >WRITING<

Entry o3 :: Sakura Shenanigans! ( link) [In Progress]Song :: "Only One Flower in the World" by SMAP (12 Girls Band Cover) Location :: Utsubuki Koen, Kurayoshi Today's Words to Live By :: 「百語より一笑」 ("A smile is worth a hundred words!"; Japanese Proverb)Spirit Alert! Yazu meets Ziya! Ziya, Isra, & Azhar (midnight_medea) Ziya hopped through the park holding on tightly to both his father's and his mother's hands. It was a glorious day, the sun was shining brightly and the trees were covered in pretty pink blossoms. Ziya was amazed. Not just because of the blossoms but also because of all the activities going on. There were food stalls and dancing ... it was amazing.Isra held Ziya's hand tightly in the mass of people milling around. She did not like so many people and she definitely did not trust them. "Why don't you two go and find somewhere to sit, I'll get us some food." She said smiling down at Ziya and then to her husband before dissapearing off into the crowd."Daaaddy." Ziya sang as they made their way through the crowds to the grass. "Can we sit under that biiig tree?" he asked pointing excitedly to the biggest tree in the park. Azhar smiled and nodded. "Of course, if we can find a space." He said raising an eyebrow at all the other people who seemed to have decided it would be a good place to sit too. Yusuke & Yazu Yazu was tickled pink! Despite the masses of people converging on the park, he kept his green eyes fixated on the clouds of pink and white hovering above him. Kicking and wriggling in excitement, he tried not to drool on the comfy blanket Yusuke's mom wrapped him in. It was just enough to keep the lingering winter chills off his plump, baby skin.Spring was by far, Yusuke's favorite time of year. Raised in a traditional family, he had a deep rooted appreciation in the beauty of all seasons, but he loved spring the most. Seeing the world come alive after the bitter winter, always made him happy. Also because it meant he could use the dojo without having blue feet from the cold.
Finding an unclaimed spot under the most gorgeous tree in the park, Yusuke quickly laid out a small tarp and placed a blanket over it. He took out his calligraphy and tea sets, almost beckoning strangers to come up and spend some time with him. The blanket certainly was large enough. Watching Yazu grope at the trees happy, Yusuke smiled. It looks like he really was part of the family after all.
"Now, don't eat the petals, Yacchan," Yusuke said, taking a strip of fabric and tying the sleeves of his kimono back. He chuckled when he saw Yazu furl his tiny brows at him. "Okay, maybe just one or two, but there are plenty in gran's sweets."A single petal floated down, and landed on his nose. Yazu squealed and took it in his hands. After getting the OK from Yusuke, he stuck his whole hand, petal and all, in his mouth. Ziya & Azhar Ziya's eyes scoured the area for a good spot. There really were a lot of people, which he really didn't mind, being the attention seeker he was. No one looked very interesting though, well, not until he spotted the red haired baby and his dad on the blanket. They sure looked interesting.
bouncing a little he tugged on his dad's hand and dragged him over to the space beside the odd couple. "Scuuuse me." He said happily, looking at the young man through his bangs. "Can we sit here?" he asked pointing to the grass beside them. Azhar gave the young man an apologetic smile at Ziya's loudness and looked at the unusual child. "If it's not too much bother." he added in his low, soft voice. Yusuke & Yazu Yazu squealed happily as the boy with golden eyes like pure sunshine bounded up. The vivid colors of the child's sash definitely caught his eyes, so Yazu said hello by doing his tiger impression. Tiny brown hands groped the air as he gurgled in excitement and wrinkling his nose. Yazu's feet kicked as he pawed toward the little boy."Certainly, pull up some blanket, Chief," Yusuke said, giving the energetic boy a cheesy smile. Taking note of the concern on the face of the boy's father, he extended a hand in reassurance. Opening his bag, he took several extra cups out and reaches for his thermos. "It's not trouble at all. Finding decent places to sit this time of year are close to impossible. My name's Yusuke, and the little tiger is Yazu. Would you like some barley tea, Mister..." Ziya & Azhar "My name's Ziya!" Ziya laughed happily, peering at Yazu and making a tiger face back. "Raaaawr" he said, hoping to make the little baby laugh.Azhar shook his head and smiled as he sat down, arranging his robes to keep them out of the way. "My name is Azhar, trouble, here is Ziya as he's just said, and my wife, Isra is finding us some food in this maze of people."
he watched Yusuke with interest as he started to pour some tea. "That would be nice, thank you. Your son is very cute, and enjoying the festivities it seems." Yusuke & Yazu Another tiger! Yazu squealed in delight, as Ziya growled back. With his little hands balled up in fists, he rolled from side to side, laughing at the tiger face of his new friend."Wow, Yacchan's in heaven. I don't think he was expecting to find another tiger here among the cherries," Yusuke chuckled, casting an approving glance at Ziya and Yazu. He nodded at Azhar with reassurance, pouring him a nice cup of refreshing tea. "It's a pleasure to meet you Azhar, and I am sure Isra will have a challenge on her hands. There are too many foods to choose from. We have plenty of room, so I am happy to have company."
Leaning to the side, Yusuke picked up his ink stone and some light pink paper. Setting them on a piece of navy felt, he pinned the paper down with a metal weight shaped like a dragon. "Ziya, have you ever tried calligraphy?" Ziy a& Azhar Ziya laughed with Yazu and rocked back so that he could land with a bump on the blanket. At Yusuke's words he shuffled forwards and clambered up into his dad's lap. "Is it drawing." He asked, watching Yusuke with interest. "I like to draw." Yusuke & Yazu "Not exactly, Ziya. It's more like writing, but not in normal alphabet letters. The in my and Yazu's native language. Check this out," Yusuke said slowly, hoping not to gloss over the explanation for the child. Dipping the tip of the calligraphy brush into the ink, he wiped the tip slowly on the ink stone before holding it above the paper. His form was rigid, yet elegant, and his wrist swayed fluidly, like a willow branch as he wrote 'sakura' in hiragana. The black ink soaked instantly into the thin paper in the shade of palest pink. "This says, "sakura". It is the name of these gorgeous pink trees we are sitting under. In common language, they are called "cherry trees", and are a prized sight in spring."
He set his brush down, and held the paper up for Ziya and his father to look at. A subtle, yet proud smile graced his lips, as the writing was one which is a**l retentive grandmother adored. Taking up a fresh sheet of paper, he raised a brow in interest at the young boy. "How do you spell you name, Ziya? I want to show you something." Ziya & Azhar Ziya stuck his thumb in his mouth and watched Yusuke write. "It's like your writing daddy." he said as he leaned back against his father. Well, not exactly, but it was different from what most people wrote. Azhar was equally as interested and nodded. "This is more like a picture though Ziya, do you see?"
Ziya nodded and smiled at Yusuke. "I spelled it ... Z ..... I..... uhhhhhmmm .... Y .... A." He said, grinning broadly, rather proud with himself. Yusuke & Yazu "Z-i-y-a, ne? Give me a minute to think here. Ah yes," Watching the child carefully, inspiration shot through him like a bolt of lightning. With a youthful, fighting spirit and hair as dark as the midnight sky, Yusuke wrote two characters. He selected the characters for "samurai" and "night", writing them vertically, in flawless penmanship. "This one is 'Zi', but the symbol means 'samurai' or 'warrior'. A samurai does many things, and does them with honor and discipline. They do more than just fight with one another." Pointing to the blank, right margin, Yusuke wrote 'Zi' in near common letters before turning his attention to the second character.
"This one is 'ya', but the symbol means 'night'. I picked it because your hair is the color of the night sky," Yusuke grinned as he wrote 'ya' beside the other character. On the left side, he wrote his full name in Chinese characters, using a smaller brush. The bristles danced on the paper as he whipped his name out quickly, and stamped the paper with an additional red ink stamp. "Just give it time to dry and you can take it home. My gift to you to commemorate our first meeting on such a gorgeous day." "Would you like to try it?" Ziya & Azhar Ziya watched with wonder as Yusuke started to paint the symbols. He wasn't sure what a samurai was but it sounded really cool. When he was finished Ziya just stared at it in awe.
Azhar laughed and ruffled his son's hair. "I'm impressed, he is rarely speechless." he said with a wink. "What do you say Ziya?"
Ziya blinked and smiled up at Yusuke. "Thank you!" He cried happily. "I like to try." He said, slipping off Azhar's lap and walking over to plonk himself next to Yusuke. Yusuke & Yazu Yazu's expression calmed, as he carefully watched Yusuke write for his new friend. Something within the infant told him there were certain times, that silence truly was golden. Watching the pitch black soak into the fragile paper, his brilliant green eyes turned to Ziya with interest. The young boy appeared captivated with Yusuke's penmenship, and that made Yazu's heart soar. A serene smile like the summer sea washed over Yazu, his hands moving up and down slowly as if he were tyring to mimic Yusuke's motions."Art has this amazing ability to captivate even the most wild of spirits, Azhar," Yusuke smiled, passing an appreciative nod to the father. Taking a fresh piece of paper and setting the place for Ziya, Yusuke checked over his shoulder at Yazu, and shook his head in amusement to find the little fireball calm as well. "All right, then, Ziya. We'll start out with something easy. The important thing in calligraphy is starting and stopping. We'll start out easy, and work our way up."
Dipping the brush in the ink, he wiped it slowly across the ink stone. On the upper half of the paper, Yusuke drew a single horizontal line, and on the bottom half, a pair of paralell lines, the top one slightly shorter than the bottom. "First, it helps to sit on your legs with your feet underneath you, like I am. It will probably feel funny at first, but if your legs fall asleep, you'll have to run around a bit and take a break, " Yusuke said, pulling his hakama to the side to clearly reveal how he was sitting, in seiza. Taking the cooler box, he propped the writing implements and paper setting up to an easier height for Ziya to write.
"Start by putting the brush down on the paper, drawing it across the paper. Then stop, and lift the brush up carefully. This is 'one'." Ziya & Azhar Ziya bit his lip as he concentrated on sitting how Yusuke told him and took the brush carefully. He was guessing now was one of those times when he was supposed to be gentle.
He shifted to kneel as Yusuke told him to and looked at the paper. Biting his lip again he placed the brush on the paper and drew it across. "One!" he repeated grinning down at his handiwork. Yusuke & Yazu "Excellent. To help the brush not stick to the paper, put your hand here," Yusuke said, pointing to the bottom of the page closest to Ziya's free hand. Refilling Azhar's tea cup and then his own, Yusuke smiled at Ziya. "You have a natural talent, Ziya. Let's give 'two' a try, shall we?"
Using his finger, he traced the stroke order slowly on the bottom half of the paper; first a shorter horizontal line, followed by a longer one beneath it. He pressed slightly harder at the beginning and endings of each stroke, accentuating the importance of starting and stopping. "One... two... Nice and easy."

Entry o4 :: = Title = ( link) [In Progress]Song :: "Sakura Ran Shojo" by the 12 Girls Band Location :: Ice Cream Station! Today's Words to Live By :: "Art is the illusion of spontaneity!" (Japanese Proverb)Spirit Alert! Yazu meets Ashe!Ashe & Noah (Renault) "Mmm..." said Ashe, rubbing her stomach and licking her lips at the thought of ice cold ice cream on the hot summer day. "Yea, Mm..." imitated Noah. Both Ashe and Noah decided to stop by the ice cream parlor for a good scoop or two or three of delicious ice cream! Both Ashe and Noah took money out of their piggy banks for this very special treat! Ruth was at home, cleaning and she allowed the two of them to get ice cream, but they had to get her one too! "So what are you gonna get?" asked Noah, holding Ashe's hand as they crossed the street. "Hmm...maybe bubble gum, with extra gum! YUUUMMMY!" she said, drooling at the thought. "Oh! I want choco choco chip! With extra chip AND choco! Delish! And I can see it from here!" The shop was a small little place, and there were many kids surrounding the door, all waiting to get in, but one kid stood out above all the rest, and mostly because of his bright, red hair. "HEY LOOK NOAH! AN APPLE!" Ashe said pointing to the small boy. "He looks cute!" she said as she ran torwards the other boy. "Ashe! Wait up!" Yusuke & Yazu "I have a triple scoop sundae of annin tofu, pear, and cherry, please," Yusuke said, wading through the sea of children crowing the ice cream counter. It was surprisingly warm outside, so with Yazu in tow, he decided to pick up some ice cream after Kendo practice. Handing the cashier his money, he laughed feeling a tug on his long black hair. Yazu squealed with joy. After another action-packed morning of rolling around on the mats in the kendo/judo gym, Yazu worked up quite an appetite. He charged himself up with the morning sunlight, so he was in full swing by the time snack time came around. His eyes sparkled looking at the giant tubs of ice cream. Growing impatient with Yusuke and the wait, he wrapped his little hands around a section of Yusuke's hair and gave it a firm tug."Hang on! Hang on!" Yusuke said, trying to pry the tiny hands from his long, blue-black hair. Looking over his shoulder at the little baby chilling out in his backpack baby carrier. Walking over to one of the few available tables, he continued his mini-lecture. "I don't need your help going bald. I'm only 26, and the kendo mask is doing enough dammage."Yazu gurgled, pointing to the ice cream with interest. He loosened his grip on Yusuke's hair, but only just a little. Ashes & Noah Ashe reached the end of the ice cream line and saw that the apple-boy was almost coming out. She excitedly jumped up and down waiting for both her turn in line and for the apple-boy to come! She wanted to say hi to him, but she had to good look first since she always had to make a good impression. She took out her handy dandy compact and started to fix her already-perfect-hair. "Ashee what are you doing? You already fixed you hair at home!" whined Noah, who was getting a little impatient with the long wait and with Ashe. "And you need to slow down! Mom would kill me if she found out that I lost you!" Yusuke & Yazu With Yazu and the sundae hovering above the melee, Yusuke navigated his way to the empty table. Seeing the gorgeous sunday down, he smiled in relieve when a clerk rushed over with a baby chair for Yazu. Carefully placing Yazu in the baby chair, Yusuke tried not to roll his eyes as the girls behind the counter squealed over how cute the little red head was and how hot guys with babies were. It was amusing the first twenty times that he heard it, but it was getting really old, very fast. Pushing back his long sleeves, and putting a bib with a crab applique on Yazu, he set about enjoying his amazing dessert. "Are you ready, buddy?" Yazu pouted and puffed his cheeks out when Yusuke tried putting the bib on him. A pretty girl fixing her hair, caught his eyes and he squealed at her. She was simply glittering among the mob of kids. Giving a big, heartbreaker smile, Yazu waved his little hands at her. Ashe & Noah "Eeee look Noah! He waved!" Ashe said, waving back with an even wider grin on her face. Yazu sat with his bib and it was all just so cute to Ashe. "Save my spot!" she exclaimed at Noah, leaving the line and running to the little boy. "Ashe! I said not to run off!" exclaimed Noah, but this time he didn't run after her since he didn't want to lose their spot! But Ashe simply ignored him and went up to the little red head and looked at him with her big round eyes. "HI THERE!" she exclaimed, kissing the boy on the forehead. "I'm Ashe! You're so cute! WHO ARE YOU?" Yusuke & Yazu "Making friends already, kiddo?" Yusuke chuckled, feeding Yazu a bit of annin tofu ice cream with a small sample spoon. He skillfully airplaned the spoon around before sticking it in the infant's mouth. For every three airplanes, Yusuke helped himself to a large, heaping spoonful of ice cream, making sure not to drop any on his uniform. Looking at the little Princess Yusuke rose to his feet and replied, "This would be Yazu, your grace. And her majesty's name is--" With a sweeping bow, he knelt before her in his kendo uniform looking particularly regal despite holding a baby spoon. Tickled pink. Yazu was absolutely tickled pink when the little girl bounded over to them, more so when she kissed him on the forehead. Her eyes were pitch black like Yusuke's calligraphy inks, a truly elegant color, indeed. In all his excitement, Yazu's pear scent grew really soft. Gurgling and giggling his made his tiger face for the girl, kicking and pawing at the air.

Entry o5 :: The VooDoo that You Do ( link) [In Progress]Song :: "indigo" by The Yoshida Brothers Location :: By the Park Today's Words to Live By :: "A smile is like a toothbrush. You have to use it regularly to keep your teeth shiny and clean." 9Japanese Proverb)Spirit Alert! Yazu meets Uziri!Uziri (Glass Crow) Wandering further than she should have for a little girl all alone, Uziri realized after an hour or two that she was very lost. This had never happened before, and she was distinctly nettled. She didn't bother blaming Da for not keeping a closer eye on her - she had waited very patiently until he had gone into another room before making her great escape. But now that the glorious break-out was through, and now that she had run of breath to keep running helter skelter, she realized the flaw in her great plan.
"Nuts," she said, sitting on an unfamiliar sidewalk curb and propping her chin on one hand. Now what? Yusuke & Yazu The squeal of a flock of girls in the park nearby, sounded like a celebrity had just made a grand entrance, but the rapidly following waves of swoons and sighs of disappointment. After another riveting cultural performance, the local most eligible bachelor was taking his leave, in desperate need of some less hormonal company. His kimono and hakama dancing in the spring breeze, as he fluidly glided away from the stage area. Being part of a traditional arts and sports family was such a pain at times. Making his way to the edge of the park, he saw a small kid sitting on the side of the road. The area was relatively safe, but it small children shouldn't be unattended.
"Hey there, Little Lady," Yusuke said, pushing his long pony tail off his shoulder and adjusting his shoulder bag. "Taking a break from a big adventure?"Yazu gurgled and giggled at the little girl, making a grabbing motion at the tips of her hood. He wriggled and kicked in excitement seeing the beautiful eyes of the young girl. Uziri Zee blinked, looking up. A stranger was talking to her. Common sense said to kick him in the shins and flee, but he had a nice dress. And a baby! Maybe he was a she, and she was just worried for her safety. Though, she did sound rather like a boy.
"I am lost," she said stoutly. "I ran when Da wassen lookin', an' now I am here." She pointed to the baby, fascinated. "Wha's that?" Yusuke & Yazu "I would guess that 'Da' might be a little worried that you ranaway, huh? Why did ya do it?" Yusuke said, rubbing his chin and looking at the little girl. Dropping his bag on the grass, he sat down on the curb as well, but not too close to crowd the child. Taking Yazu from his back carrier, Yusuke bounced him on his lap. "This is Yazu. He's a baby, and my name is Yusuke. I'm his caretaker."Yazu looking at the girl with wide eyes and a shy smile. Something about her made him a little nervous, but he waved a chubby little hand at her anyway. As he waved his hand, his pear fragrance danced on the spring wind. The scent soothed him, especially when the little spirit was worried. Uziri " 'Cause I could," Zee said, blinking in confusion Wasn't it obvious? That's why she did everything! "I did not mean to make him sad. I'll go back when I know which way to go."
She stared openly at the baby, infinitely interested.
"He smells like fruit," she said, nodding in approval. "I bet he ne'er has to take baths. 'Lo, fruit-baby." Yusuke & Yazu "Do you have a phone number for Da? Maybe we should give him a phone call." Yusuke was slightly taken back by the attitude of the little girl. For someone so small to have so much attitude, she was either neglected, bullied, or poorly raised. Yusuke wasn't the sort of lecture other people's children. He prefered to talk to the parents one on one, but such was his life as a teacher. The children he lectured were his students because he was required to. "Despite his fruity fragrance, this little guy gets a bath every day. However, it makes changing diapers a piece of cake."Yazu's gaze moved from the little girl's stunning eyes to her glowing necklace. The colors were beautifully spooky, like the aura of the old ghost houses around their town. He stuck a small hand out at her, waving it shyly. Uziri "Da does not haff a phone," Uziri said, nodding. "He say, 'Zee, if you gets lost, finna po-leeze offiker. He will take you somewheres safe,'and, and then? And then Oliver? Oliver, he say 'and he will put you in a cell and never ever let you out, 'cause you're a men-ace to 'ciety.' And then Da hit him with a book. It was funny."
She gave the man-what-was-in-a-dress a speculative look.
"You's not a po-leeze," she said. "You are a boy in a dress. My friend Ashe would like your dress, she likes pretty things."
She turned her attention to the Pear Baby then, smiling.
"You are cute and pudgy," she said. "Like a puppy! But I am sorry you hasta take baths. Tha's bad." Yusuke & Yazu "No, I am not a police officer. I'm a high school PE teacher," Yusuke said slowly, straining to make heads or tails of what the Zee was telling him. He had a difficult time understanding her accent, but it reminded him of when he visited his host brother in the Bayou. Deep south with lots of rich, butchered words. "And this isn't a dress, Zee. They are really, really, big pants." He stood up and parted his legs, showing the child that he was, in fact, not wearing a dress, just very large, pleated trousers. "Looks like Yazu wants to be your friend..."Yazu listened to the girl talk. His shy smile suddenly burst into a large, cheesy smile. He wriggled a little in Yusuke's arms, grabbing for Zee with his little hands. Uziri "Oh," Zee said, nodding in approval. "Tha's nice."
Chewing on her fingers out of old habit, she beeped Yazu's nose with her free hand.
"Why is he striped green?" she asked, eyes wide. "I want stripes. Da says I have ma-gi-cal ten-ta-cles, but they are not stripes."
To prove her point, she extended the tendrils of her shadow-aura dramatically, looking less like an octopus's tentacles and more like the thin, creepy-crawly legs of a large spider. Yusuke & Yazu "I don't know why he's striped green, Zee," Yusuke chuckled, as Uziri touched Yazu's nose, making a beeping noise when she pressed down. His eyes widened in fascination as Zee revealed her shadow aura, Yusuke had felt something strange power surrounding the child, but he couldn't pinpoint what it was. "Those are very neat, too. What do they do? Is it okay for Yazu to touch them?"Yazu giggled when Zee beeped his nose because her touch tickled and Yusuke made the funny noise always makes when Yazu grabbed his nose. His laughing stopped when she revealed her shadow aura. the infant's green eyes narrowed and then widened again in surprise. Nervously, he held a hand toward the pale light, curious as to what it feels like. Uziri "They is my extra arms," Uziri said, puffing out in pride. "They's always been there. Oliver calls me Oc-o-pus, so I poked him in th' eye with one. He said a bad word."
Giggling at the memory, she extended one obligingly towards Yazu.
"They's safe," she said, nodding hard. "They look not-real, but they are. They's just kinna...there. Like an extra head." Yusuke & Yazu Yusuke found the aura very interesting and wondered if Yazu would develop any supernatural qualities aside from just smelling nice all the time. His eyes softened as Zee proudly presented her aura, he had forgotten how worked up children could get over the simplest things. He missed that feeling very much. Taking Yazu's little hand, he guided it toward the tentacle.Yazu felt a little bt of fear take hold of him, but when Yusuke braced his little arm, he knew that it was safe. His dad wouldn't put him in any sort of danger. Cracking a smile at Uziri, he grazed his little fingers across the tentacle with a shy fascination. Surprised at how soft and real it was, he wrapped his little fingers around it, giving it a little squeeze, laughing. Uziri The tendril curled loosely around Yazu's arm, the semblance to a spider's leg lost. It was quite real, hovering between solidity and non-corporeality. If anything, close up it held some resemblance to a jellyfish's tentacles. Uziri preened at the attention, feeling proud. Da told her every day to be careful with them or she'd poke out someone's eye, and that power went to her head a little to say the least. Yusuke & Yazu "Are you hungry at all, Zee?" Yusuke said, watching the two kids interact with one another. He was a bit worried that she was simply stuck on the side of the road without any clue as to how to get back to her home aside from calling the police. "I am sure there is some food left over at the picnic in the park. I am sure it's also more fun than just sitting on the side of the road."Yazu laughed, massaging Zee's aura with his little fingers. His green eyes sparkled in amusement, as he pulled his arm and Uziri's tentacle to his mouth. He pecked it with his little lips, hugging it with his other arm. It was comforting and warm, like the glow in the girl's bewitching eyes.
