the isle of the dead
Distopia? Or do you mean something else?

I didn't know there was a word for it. Negative utopia was what I'd always known it as.

Learn somethin' new every day.

Oh, Radiohead... mmm...

OK Computer is a marvellous album. I'm into "negative utopia" themes in the first place, but there are just some awesome instrumental things going on there.

I had a friend listen to "Karma Police" the other day, and he was like, "This must be a good song if I can listen to the first ten seconds and love it."

I'm glad there are bands out there to prove that you don't need to be conventional or have catchy hooks to be appreciated by the general public.

Yes, OK computer is a great album. I agree with you about liking "negative utopia" ideas, too.

Karma Police was the first song I liked on that album, because it sounded the most "acoustic" if you will - the least amount of electronics, and I hadn't really listened to anything but classical before got into Radiohead. The ironic thing, though (or maybe it's just sad) is that I got interested in my favorite "popular" band (as opposed to classical) through classical music -- through Christopher O'Riley's classical transcriptions of them for piano. Shows how much I pay attention to popular culture. I actually do now, but I didn't then.

Yeah, I heard O'Riley's version of "Exit Music" on From the Top one day. That was pretty nice. But I've never heard another one, so...

Dark Sanctuary sounds very intriguing, but unfortunately I'm on a dialup connection. Kind of obstructs the whole "download music" thing.

If you're willing to take the risk (buying before trying) I can direct you to a site that you can purchase their best album from...

I'll manage.. I checked the website you pointed us to earlier, and there was some mention of being able to find their music on iTunes, which usually breaks things up into small enough bits that I can handle the download.

Alternatively, I could pack my computer up and find a wireless hotspot, like I've been meaning to do all summer. redface

Alright. If you can't manage that let me know. I'm sure there's a way to work out something.
