Dallas' grin reached ear to ear when he saw the look on Elea's face. Everyone always looked like that when he showed them his pills. "They're not real," he started, then added, "but I'm sure you already figured that out. Actually, its hard candy. Like sweat tarts." He pulled the blue one out from where Noah was sniffing them and popped it into his mouth. "I got a whole bag in my duplex, if you want some sometimes!"

When Elea mentioned something about mermaids, Dallas looked at her sort of sadly. "That sucks. You better watch out. There's this nasty octopus guy living in some part of the river. Nasty, nasty fellow. Wouldn't wanna run into him! And Noah," he said, "a mouse aint that bad. You could always be a sea sponge. Or a sloth."

Sweet tarts...so that's why they had smelled so sweet. He hadn't had candy in quite some time...though he was sure mice weren't supposed to snack on that sort of thing anyways.

He felt that Dallas was somewhat lucky- as lucky as someone on the island could be, that is. Flying monkey...at least he'd be mostly primate, which was closer to being a human than most people got. But Elea...oh, so she was going to be something aquatic. How unfortunate.

"Ah so...like a fish or somezhing?" he said to Elea. "Zhat...ah, zhat is unfortunate. Maybe you'll be...on of zhose pretty colorful fish, ja?"

Being a fish was going to be no fun. Of course he wasn't going to make things worse- or darker- by admitting there was little that made being a water creature 'cool' or 'awesome'.

He sighed at Dallas. Again with the 'it could be worse' thing. It was always 'it could be worse' or 'some people have it worse than you.' Well, being a mouse was pretty damn bad. He huffed unhappily and shook his head at the boy.

"It's pretty bad to be zhe prey to everyone's predator. Do you know haow many zhings eat mice? A LOT." he groused. He didn't like the prospect of being in constant danger once outside his duplex. Not at all.

At the mention of the octopus did emerald orbs roll in their sockets. Great an octopus…just what she needed to look out for. Did these men have no emotional knowledge? When a female says something that could possibly go wrong for her it was a gentleman’s duty to comfort her. Then again she was on an island, chivalry was dead and Elea highly doubted those two couldn’t count as gentlemen. Dallas was immature and Noah…well he had panic attack written all over him. Needless to say their words weren’t the least comforting.

“Oh thank you so much for that vital piece of information.” Sarcasm hung off of every word she said. Well at least Noah was trying to be nice. She could be a pretty fish…funny thing about pretty things is, well Elea wasn’t the sort to care--very much--about her appearance. Honestly, the way she was dressed now--lose bun, blazer, jeans and tennis shoes--did that scream she was shallow?

However she wouldn’t argue with Noah, many animals did eat mice--and thankfully she wouldn’t be one of them. Just the thought of trying to hunt another person made her stomach do flips in the air. But at least he was still a mammal and before her mind could go further into pity mode did she stop herself. This wasn’t a pity contest, neither was it a compare and contrast kind of thing. Still, if Dallas came up with another ‘it could be worse’ speech of sorts would she slap some actual sense into the younger one.

“Maybe you should get a body guard then.” Muttered the journalist, letting her fingers comb through her locks once more.

"Oh, well, sorry, just thought you might like a heads up..." Dallas muttered under his breath, getting slightly tired of the girl's attitude. Couldn't she be just a little happier? Had she ever been any happier? He knew he had been acting like a total jerk earlier, but at least he was trying to act a little better now. Oh well, the whole "it could be worst" thing was probably not helping. He always liked to think of 'it could be worse' when he was in a predicament. He figured that some just didn't share his sentiments.

"But you gotta think Noah," He said, "your turning into a big mouse. if you were small, then sure you could become prey. But your gonna be the same size as the rest of them. You can fight them off wit' tooth and claw! And if you want to, I could maybe teach you some Muay Thai...its a type of martial arts. One of the guys who used to work at the circus, he was Thai and he taught me some when I was younger."

Noah fidgeted nervously with his tail as he thought about what Elea said. A bodyguard? He had never thought of that. It was just a thought that never occurred to him. It seemed like a good idea...but where would he find an animal tough enough to defend him that wasn't liable to eat him?

"Sound like a good idea Miss Elea, but...most of zhe animals big enough to protect me are predators. Zhey'd be more inclined to eat me zhen save me." he sighed.

He looked over to Dallas and considered what he said as well. He WAS going to be a BIG mouse...but then again, the animals that had the instinct to eat him were also getting bigger, so it sort of balanced out. He wouldn't be likely swallowed in one bite...but there was always the possibility of attack. That seemed to worry him more than being eaten.

"But...zhey are getting bigger too, ja? And...even if zhey do not succeed in eating me...one attack can be pretty devastating. Even if zhe chips buzz zhem out. It only takes one strike to lay damage onto a mouse." he sighed. He really was worried, though. It wasn't just mindless complaining, it was genuine concern. "And danke for zhe offer, but I'm no good at zhat sort of zhing." he mutter, referencing Dallas offer to teach him how to defend himself.

It was an appealing idea, but he figured he should at least learn how to walk on his new large feet before jumping into some form of martial arts...

A sigh of aggravation left the girls' lips. Maybe she should just leave now before smashing something in the duplex. Her attitude wasn't helping...and Dallas was annoying her greatly--maybe it was because he remained her too much of her younger brother back in New York. But at least her idea made sense, even though Noah didn't think would work out well. And Dallas made a good point, Noah was turning into a big mouse...then again the animals were humans but were bigger than normal too.

What a big headache Elea was forming with all this thinking and anger bottled up.

Emerald orbs glancing at the door did her hand run through her hair again. "I think I might go, this is just too much to take in. Especially right now."
