"Don't bite me again..."

Bindi's mind swirled around that one sentence, and the deadly alter-ego shift to accompany it. Sure she had deserved it seeing as she was the one who was so overwhelmed in her emotions to comprehend what a horrible thing she had done when he was trying to save her life. If it wasn't for the pain clinging to ever fiber of her small being...she would have been terrified of Dax at that moment in time. The hot tears floating into the wind as they rolled off her cheeks kept the young pup in check that she had to keep running back to the den, hoping that Faile would be there when they arrived. Catching Dax in the shadows as he easily caught up to her, her heart relaxed some to know he was safe.

I'm a fool... She thought bitterly, casting a glance over to Dax as his chest fell and rose deeply with each breath he took. She was just full of good intentions today, wasn't she?

Breaking through the bushes, Bindi's eyes locked onto the den as she sighed with relief to see Faile slowly slump into the den; exhausted. Everyone was safe now as things for this family would return to normal...except for Bindi. She felt she was the outcast, the piece of the puzzle which didn't fit with the rest; heck, she wasn't even from the same puzzle. She knew the likes of Jaxom, Faile, Dax and the pups felt otherwise as the ebony male stated his family was naturally caring like that yet her mind had been to traumatized to understand anymore. Her mother was dead as her own blood stained her once sunny pelt,

No longer would she see her smile, her beauty, her motherly demeanor.

No longer did she have hope for a bright future.

Frowning as the darkness of her own soul shifted into her heart, the only thing Bindi had to look foreward to was to grow big and strong...and kill those bipedals who took her happiness away. Revenge would live in her each breath, each hunt, each slip of her conciousness into sleep to grow stronger. Yet....her new family didn't have to know this. Thus, she shoved any trace of the emotion back into the confines of her soul.

Shifting in her run to move infront of Dax, she watched as he haulted to a stop as she did, gulping lightly as she summoned the strength to speak without breaking down. Facing him completly outside the den, she looked at him with hurt and sorrow in her orbs...guilty for what she had done.

"Dax...I'm..so sorry. I was too caught up in my pain to realize...you were trying to save me yet again." A few fresh tears rolled down her cheeks, eyes sore from today's events. "I know I must look like such idiot...yet...I don't want you to ever be hurt. It hurts me moreso that I did such a thing to you..." She shook her head lightly, biting her lip, "..I'm just horrible."

Taking a few steps timidly foreward with her ears flat against her skull and her tail dragging behind her, she nuzzled his neck before licking at his wound. She prayed it didn't hurt, and would heal swiftly. Backing up in the same mannor of subordination, her sad orbs glanced back to the den where his parents and the rest of his family were waiting to see if they both made it back alright. She didn't wish to keep him any longer than she had to, as he probably couldn't wait to go inside. "You should go see your mom, she's probably worried."

With that, Bindi slunk over to the side of the enterance, sitting with her back against the stones as her whole body seemed to slump. Her head hung low as her eyes shut slowly, she probably looked like a peice of work with her fur matted and bloody. Yet she didn't care, she had no energy or reason for grooming herself and figured she would sit her in her thoughts for the remainder of the day.

She didn't even have the heart to go into the den.

Curling around Eiros, Fenuku, and Vashti, every muscle in Faile's frame ached of exhaustion. "Humans," she whined, panting up at Jaxom. "Killed a wolf...Bindi and Dax were there...I distracted them so they could escape." Her jade eyes flickered around the den, searching for her son and Bindi. "Where are they?" Her voice raised slightly, shaking a little with weariness and fear.

It had seemed so sudden when Faile had returned and had curled around Eiros, Fenuku and Vashti and drew towards him, panting tiredly and whining with eyes that cried of sadness and deep remorse. But as she spoke, his ears suddenly perked forwars as his emerald orbs widened.

"Humans! On the outskirts of the packlands?" A deep growl sounded deep from his chest with an audible rumbled. His mind became frantic, thinking quickly and trying to interpret her words as well as urging his tongue to speak. "Bin-Bindi and Dax were there? And watched them kill a wolf?" His jaws gritted together as his forepaws began to tremble. This was not good-not good at all. Drawing closer to his mate and nuzzling deep into her fur, Jaxom nipped her ear.

"It will be okay, love. Knowing those too, they'll be able to give them the slip. They'll come back," he whispered softly, a soft whine escaping from his maw.

~~~
Dax's mind was elsewhere, reveling in thoughts and the unknown as the demons within began to scratch at the surface of his thoughts and howl with pain and anguish flowing through his body- numbing him and making the pain seem so meager while, in fact, it was something that burdened the young pup greatly. But thoughts of the female and her intentions at biting him was something that pained him at snapping at as the coldness of his response was something that wasn't settling well with him.
Keeping a hearty pace as his eyes seemed to stare into the distance, the black and white swirled pup seemed to give a delayed reaction as the blonde female pup shifted in front of him only to cause him to suddenly halt within his tracks. Biting his lower lip as his ears swiveled against his skull, Dax stammered.
"Bindi I-" But he was interrupted as she began to speak.
He listened as he nodded his head while icy, blue orbs settled upon her. As she cried, a small whine escaped from his maw as she came forward and nuzzled deeply against him and licked at his wound. Why was she apologizing? Certainly he was the one who owed her an apology!
"Bindi...don't be sorry," he spoke softly, pressing his nose and forehead against that of the young wolfess and smiled warmly as best he could. "You didn't mean it and I- I shouldn't have snapped at you. You're not an idiot; you're brave."
He couldn't help but tilt his head as she drew away from him in a slight submissive action. Turning his head away as his gaze fell upon the ground, Dax shook his head.
"No," he replied, letting his gaze drift towards her once again, "you're coming with me because you're family and you're not gonna stay out here. What's done is done and you can't go back and try to change the past. I don't think you wanna stay out here." As the blonde pup slinked over towards the entrance and hanging her head low in shame and disgrace, Dax slowly padded up to her and nuzzled against her as he tried to lick the blood from off of her fur.
"Staying out here will only make you miserable. And it's not good to sulk. Come inside with me?"
Keeping her world darkened as she could feel the gentle breeze drift over her matted fur, she could smell the distant scent of human - or it could have just been imprinted in her memory and nose. Trying to numb her mind of the visions she didn't wish to feel fresh warm tears drift over her cheeks anymore...instead she allowed her body to remember how it felt when Dax placed his warm forehead against her own. It had meant more to her than he could possibly imagine as such an action told her without words that he trusted her; or else he wouldn't have exposed such a vulnerable stance.
Slowly cracking her ice orbs open as Dax slowly followed her to where she sat, blue met blue as the blonde pup felt her cheeks grow warm. Luckily it went unseen due to the blood staining the fur above; at least one good thing came of the day. "I could never be angry at you...I owe you my life twice now." She attempted a smile, which failed miserably so she simply allowed her eyes to show her appreciation.
Widening her eyes slightly as he nuzzled against her, as well as began to attempt to remove the blood from her dirty pelt. "You probably will drag me in there if I refuse...won't you?" Attempting a small smile she won this time, her lips curling faintly as her head lifted higher. "I would give anything to change it, yet I have nothing worth the chance. I will change the future though...that is something I can do." She narrowed her eyes lightly, yet quickly supressed the dakness back into her soul. As much as she wanted to stay out here and dwell in her sorrows...she knew the healing porcess had to begin sooner or later; her mother woudn't have wanted it this way either. Bindi never wanted to displease her mother, so with some hesitation she arose to her paws.
"I will...I can't say no to you. Just...thank you, Dax. I don't know what I would do without you now...you're...all that I have left." She admitted shyly as she licked the side of his muzzle. She was aware she had his whole family now, and as much as she felt indebted to Jaxom and Faile....it was Dax to whom she owed her all too, and it would be he she would follow to final days of her life. "Lets go.." She took a beath in, making sure to walk at his side when they entered the cave to see Jaxom and Faile curled at the other pups side. Immediately, her ears flattened on her skull, her tail drooping as she felt so small once again.
"I'm...sorry for causing you both so much trouble..." She all but whispered out, her voice failing her.
"Don't apologize!" Faile's voice was sharp and firm, if tired, as muscles relaxed in relief. "It is no more than is to be done for any other member of the family and pack. We have all faced loss from those...fiends. You are not alone in your grief." She nuzzled Jaxom, seeking and finding comfort in his closeness. "I ran away from the lands until they gave up...only then did I come back. I don't think they'll find us...I hope not."
"You owe me nothin'," he replied with a sweet, warm smile drawn across his maw. "Just promise me that you'll stay with us and not run off, okay?"
His ears fell gently against his skull as he continued to rid of what blood he could so her beautiful, blonde fur wouldn't be tarnished or stained with dried crimson. Looking upwards as his eyes settled upon the female, Dax gave a small grin as he cocked an eyebrow. "Doubt that I will?" As she continued to speak, he listened intently and nodded his head. "...You can't change the past and the future is another battle you have to fight to bring an' end to the woes from the past."
Silly girl, the coldness of the voice at the back of his mind retorted. And you are a fool just as well, Dax, to believe that you can change what you will become or that she can change the future to make up for the past. You have your uncles potential- you harbor strength and darkness beyond any wolfs wildest dreams! But you have yet to unlock such great potential. You will learn of the cold truth- of fangs, blood and revenge, for what will come for you, Dax.
Dax supressed a sudden shiver as the voice seemed to echo and ring throughout his mind and ears. His ringed tail lashed behind him as his paws clenched the earth underneath them, gritting his teeth as his facial expression kept a solemn expression only to display a small wince as his eyes scrunched tight.
"I will fight it," he grolwed, fur pricking lupwards as if he was facing his demons and envisioning them before him within the darkness of his closed eyes.
Your mind and soul will shatter into oblivion before you can overcome what you are destined to become. Embrace the darkness- welcome it. I am only here to help you become your true potential.
"SHUT UP!"
Snapping back as he opened his eyes just as Bindi was thanking him, the black and white swirled pup blinked several times. Even within his body and his senses, Dax could feel that his other side was becoming darker- more destructive with a dangerous potential. He could sometimes control it but it would only be a matter of time until it became too powerful and consumed him. Looking towards Bindi once again, Dax sheepishly grinned as she licked the side of his muzzle. "You- you don't have to thank me...and I couldn't let those two leggers get to you," he added.
As she stepped forwards and into the den, the black and white swirled pup took a deep breath and trailed in after her.
Jaxom kept close to his mate, nuzzling against her and rumbling soft, soothing affection from deep within his chest. But the sound of small foot fall caused his eyes to glance over towards the opening of the den where both Bindi and Dax slowly trailed in. As his jet black mate stepped in and repremanded the young female pup from expressing her sorrow, Jaxom nuzzled against her and licked her.
"Love," he whispered, trying to calm and soothe her worries, "be at ease. They are back safe and no harm has come to them or our family. But we all have born our losses from humans but let's not let that create a tension or blame upon anyone." Looking towards Bindi and Dax, the beta bit his lower lip as his tail thumped behind him. "There is a good chance that those humans will not be back," he spoke, his heart aching with great pain as he pursed his lips. "But we can't be too lightly and, from now on, you two, as well as the other pups, must stay close to home unless we all venture off somewhere. We can't be too careful- especially with the threat of humans."
"For now I think it's best if we all rest. Once we're all rejuvinated we'll deal with a good meal and find something to occupy our time with."
Noddng his head, Jaxom settled his head upon his paws but glanced up again towards the blonde pup with a sympathetic and compassionate expression.
"What you saw today- what you witnessed should not rest upon your shoulders as a crime you committed," he softly spoke as he lifted his forearm outwards for a place for the two to rest and nestle in warmth.
"Sleep and love can heal even the most broken of hearts."
"You may think I owe you nothing...but I owe you everything." Bindi smiled sincerely, as her ice orbs shifting to Dax's direction as he licked her fur clean of her mother's blood. Softening her gaze as she looked at him tenderly the young pup knew not what she had done to deserve such compassion and tenderness, yet she was blessed. She truly was. Glancing back to see if her newfound sibling was coming, she witnessed something which brought a wave of concern onto her frail body. In the blink of an eye, his demeanor had shifted to the dark as his paws and body tensed, lost in his own thoughts. Lowering her own ears even as Faile spoke...she seemed not to listen.
What was that growl for?
What seemed to upset Dax to the point where he seemed to blank out to the world around him?
Frowning slightly as he own head tilted down in thought, she relayed his words back into her mind. She had to fight to kill the past in the future....in essence, she would one day have to face down the humans which brought such a dark plauge on her presently. As a small smirk tugged on the corner of her lips she was well aware the dangers it would bring to her to face such creatures and their weapons - yet if she didn't, it would haunt her for the remainder of her future. She would have to grow strong...and it seemed this family was the perfect ones to train and grow to her full capabilities. Being the runt of her previous litter wasn't going to discourage her in the slightest, anything was possible to her at this point.
Upon seeing Dax snap back to normal, a smile once again graced her own lips, nodding her head softly. Lingering her gaze on Faile and Jaxom, she took in their wise words...it seemed there was much more to this family then she initially thought - would she even know their secrets? Twisting her head lightly to the side, she whispered to Dax ever so quietly so only he could hear her hushed secrets. "I will make this all up to you someday, reguarless...you have my promise. I'll follow you till the end." Perhaps it was quite a statement to make at such a young age, pledging loyalty till her lasts breath - yet Bindi had a good enough grasp as any adult on the concequences and such a statement felt natural to say to Dax after what he did for her. If anything...such a promise made her feel releived in an odd sense. Shifting her body to rub against him as she headed towards Jaxom, she cast him no lingering glance as she knew he would join her momentarily.
Slinking a bit shyly into Jaxom's welcoming gesture for a place to sleep, she quietly curled her body in a tight ball like she was used to out in the chilled nights. Resting her head on her tail, her eyes almost immediately became droopy, fighting to stay in wakeful consciousness. Her fleeting glances to Dax, Jaxom and Faile held a wonderous bout of questions...ones hopefully would be answered someday. So...this is family. She thought breifly as a yawn racked through her frail body.
"Is....that....so...." She spoke as her eyes slowly drifted closed, unable to even stay awake for the answer. Could rest and love really mend her shattered heart? Bindi could only pray for a dreamless sleep ahead, less her slumber be consumed in the blood drenched memories of today's events.
