Churo found a great position for them to see the rabbits and not been seen or smelt. She laid down and watched the rabbits for a while before turning and watching her cubs.
"Right then." She was whispering as she didn't need to rabbits dashing back into their burrows.
"Zuri you will go round to the left, keep low to the ground and move slowly, Nuku you are to go to the right. Neither of you move untill I flick my tail. When you move you must both chase the rabbits to me, do not try and catch one you won't be able to and I don't want you to this exercise is not for killing." Churo looked down at her cubs seriously, they would get in serious trouble if they didn't do as they were told.
Nuku wanted to behave this time he wanted to get something right for once so the first thing he did was go round the right moving very slowly. He watched for twigs and made sure not to step on them before he found his position.
He laid and waited for the signal.

Zuri gave a nod to her mother and began to follow the orders she was given. Zuri quietly moved over to the left as instructed. She was a little disappointed that she would not actually be killing the rabbit today, but she understood that the basics of hunting are needed to be learned first. Still, it would be a lot of fun to kill the rabbit...
Zuri lowered down and eyed her mother, awaiting her cue of the flick of the tail. A rush of adrenaline surged through her body in anticpation and excitement...

Churo watched her cubs get into position and then she flicked her tail. Making sure that her children were safe she found a better hiding place waiting for her cubs to return to her.
Nuku saw the flick of the tail and crawled out of his hiding place before trying to pounce at one of the nearest rabbits. It bolted straight towards where Churo lay. Happily he ran after it. See he could hunt!

Zuri leapt out from her hiding spot at the cue, prouncing near two rabbits. One rabbit scurried over to Zuri's mother. Success! As for the other, it began to hop off in another direction.
Zuri started chasing the first closer and closer to her mother, but couldn't help keep looking back at the other rabbit. The other rabbit almost made her feel like she had failed, although she knew that just being able to get one rabbit was good enough.
In the corner of her eye, Zuri watched Nuku as he happily chased a rabbit to his mother. She smiled at her brother's success as she scared the rabbit right up to Churo.

Churo jumped out of her hiding spot as both rabbits neared her. She roared and watched the rabbits turn and try to run back the way they came, dodging around her cubs.
She settled back down to watch and be amused.
Nuku was confused at his mothers actions but he wasn't about to let his rabbit go. He chased it back till he managed to get in front of it so it had to turn again. It was a slow and tiring proces but he nearly had the rabbit bounding back to his mother.

Zuri was confused...her mother wanted her to lure the rabbits to her so she could scare them off again? What a strange exercise. Zuri noticed Nuku chasing after his rabbit again, so Zuri decided to do the same.
Chasing after her rabbit, Zuri started to get a little frusturated. She couldn't help but thinking of that other rabbit that got away and the anger that Zuri felt because of it. And now this, chasing a rabbit in a seemingly endless exercise. How was this supposed to help teach hunting?
If Zuri had thought about it for a bit longer, from a more mature perspective perhaps, she may have understood, but instead, the confusion just built up into more anger. And at the moment, all the anger seemed to emit from this rabbit. Zuri knew what she had to do, what her instincts told her to do.
Zuri pounced towards the rabbit, raising a claw in the air, ready to swipe at the obnoxious rabbit, despite her mother's orders.

Churo had gone to watching her daughter because where as Nuku was just chasing the rabbit she had noticed her daughter becomming uncomfortable. She had already stood up waiting to step in and as her daughter pounced, she did.
She let out a roar as well which sent the rabbit running to the left of them both and straight down the nearest hole. It stopped Nuku in his tracks and his rabbit managed to escape as well.
"That is enough hunting for today. You need to learn to do what you are told or you will never be a good huntress." She snarled a little and turned to head back to their resting place not saying another word. She was a strict mother but her kids needed it if they were to grow up properly.
Nuku was really confused at what his mother was saying to his sister and why he had let his rabbit get away but he wasn't too bothered. They were going to rest now which meant he didn't have to run and being lazy sounded better to him at least.

"Sorry ma," apoligized Zuri shamefully to her mother. "It's just that, I got one rabbit to run to you, but I failed on the other. I understand that not everyone can be perfect, I know, its just, I thought I'd be able to get both rabbits to you."
Zuri looked down at her paws as she softly scratched at the ground with one of her front paws. "Maybe just need more practice," she muttered softly. "Sorry."
Zuri lazily walked over to her brother with her head hanging rather low, but quickly rose up to an encouraging smile.
"Good job, brother," she said with a wink to her beloved sibling.

Churo just nodded at her daughter and continued to say nothing. The less said about it the better, she needed to learn and Churo had decided to teach them the hard way as that is the only way things will stick with them.
Nuku looked at his sister and smiled proudly. "You did good too! You had two on the run!" He laughed a little and then tried to pounce his sister as they were walking. After all if he couldn't practice pouncing on rabbits, his sister would have to make do for now!

Zuri laughed as her brother pounced on her, causing her to fall over and roll on the ground. She popped herself up and growled playfully at her brother with a wide grin on her face.
"Getting stronger, Nuku," she said playfully. "Who knows, you may be stronger than me someday afterall."
Zuri then leapt off the ground, attempting to pounce on her brother in return.

"I will be stronger then you. Just you wait!" He laughed and tried to tug at her ear. Granted they could not walk while pouncing each other and luckily their mother had noticed, not that Nuku cared, right now he just wanted to attack his sister playfully!
Churo had noticed her cubs playing so had laid down near by, there was little point in breaking them up when they could learn so much from what they were doing.
She rested her head on her paws and watched the two cubs, a smile on her maw. If only Kwaruza was here.

"In your dreams, Nuku," said Zuri, swiftly moving an inch away from Nuku, dodging from his playful attacks. "You will never be stronger than me for I am the Almighty Zuri!"
Zuri then gave her best attempt at a roar, though it sounded more like a weak sound that a prey would make. Zuri then laughed at her own humor as she gave a silly look to Nuku before attempting to pounce on him again.

Churo let out a yawn and looked up at the sky.
"Naptime."
She stood up and picked up Nuku to get him out of reach from his sister and then turned to lead the way back to the den.
She moved quickly, turning to make sure her daughter was still following her. Once at the den she put Nuku down and waited for Zuri to follow.
"You have hunted and played and now you sleep." She spoke quite harshly to make sure the two understood.
Nuku was happy to get some sleep and happy that he had got carried. He curled up happily, watching his sister a little before closing his eyes after a big yawn.
"Night mother, night Zuri..."

"Aww, alright," said Zuri, feeling as though she had a lot of energy still. Yet, at the same time, she knew that as soon as she laid down, she'd fall asleep rather quickly.
"Night Nuku, night ma," said Zuri as she curled herself up a bit in the back of the cave, jus as she said she would do earlier that morning. With a wide smile on her face, Zuri tried to keep her eyes open and watch around her for as long as she could. This lasted no more than a few seconds as Zuri then closed her eyes, drifiting into a light and delicate sleep.

Once the cubs were asleep she lowered her own head, her body laid across the entrance to her cubs. She slowly let her own eyes close and drift off into a light sleep where she could be half aware of her surroundings and half resting her own body.
