"Really?" her eyes fell to where his paw pointed, lions and hyenas? She had never heard of such a thing. Perhaps they just fought a lot, had tiffs with one another, then went back to their own. It was possible over all, though she had heard of strange bonds between those of different kinds, cheetahs, lion, that sort of thing, but never had she heard lions and hyenas being within close proximity before.
She heard him talk about how it was scary there, she nearly shuddered at the thought of something AI thought was scary, but he was big and brave...so it must've been horrible there. "Then I won't go there...ever...I don't do scary..." she said simply. Kat smiled though, the scary times had seemed to pass.
Things were only getting better.
She just wanted to stay here, like this, with Ai, and everything would be just fine. She didn't know why she felt so attached to Ai, was it because he saved or...or, was it more? It boggled her mind a bit...then she thought of somehting....a twinge in teh corner of her mind...
Did she...did she...
She couldn't even say it...she didn't know if it was true. But what if it was...

"Yeah." he confirmed, resting his head against her's so that it was tucked under his chin. Ai enjoyed being the 'large male', as opposed to all things when he was little. "I try not to do scary either.. it just kinda finds me at times.." he admitted, chuckling a bit, before sighing a bit.
The view was beautiful...
and he wasn't looking out at the scenery for sure.
He seemed to realize he was staring a bit, and averted his gaze quickly, flushing a bit in the cheek before opening his mouth to talk again, stammering a bit, awkwardly.
"Umm... Kat?" Ai spoke to get her attention, or at least assure himself that he had it. He licked his lips a bit before he continued. "I know this is going to sound strange but..."
He backed away from her a bit so he could look the lioness in the eyes.
"I.... want... f..." he paused, embarassed, before trying again. "I want you to stay here with me. Forever. By my side." he managed, his voice sort of cracking near the end, almost like he'd hit another bout of puberty. "... I mean... I don't want you to feel pressured or anything but.."
The dark adolescent took a deep breath.
"Would you be willing to raise a family with me? One of our own?" he asked, eyes staring at her intently, almost seeming nervous to see how she'd react.

Kat was daydreaming, a smile on her maw, she flicked her tail once and felt it fall on Ai's somewhat and she blushed slightly...she was clumsy, didn't pay attention to where everything was sometimes. But now, now she knew where she was, knew where she wanted to be...
Here, with Ai.
When she heard his voice she turned to look at him, her hazel eyes meeting his, looking up slightly, he was so much taller then she already, she wondered what it would be like when he would grow into his fully-maned adult physique. Her mind was racing when he spoke, the words registering only slightly in her mind but they were all sinking in...every single word.
He wanted her to stay here, with him, both of them...together.
For the first time in a great while, she felt warm, genuinely happy, as if nothing bad ever happened in her lifetime. AI was taking the bad away. A family? Them, a family? The smile just wouldn't fade.
She was going to have a family again...
And someday, one of her very own..with Ai.
"Yes," her voice was quiet, soft, but loud enough so Ai could hear, and only him. She rose up and took steps closer to him to nuzzle her head beneath his chin, and she purred.
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here...with you..."

Her words took a great weight off of his shoulder, and his rather statue-esque posture relaxed, allowing him to slouch a bit. He purred at the brown lioness who nuzzled her head against his chin, his brain seeming to shut off to a certain extent.
But he was happy, she was there, and the two of them would be happy together. He'd make sure she was happy, even if he had to go find a god and beat him down for what he'd done to her. Ai wouldn't allow that thought to flood his mind at this point in time, though.
Kat was his family now and forever. He'd make sure of that.
Perhaps that would lead to him having to introduce her, formally, to his OWN family later, but he didn't care. She was the one thing in his life he'd done right, all on his own. Ai wanted to keep her there by his side, before any horrid male could come and try and steal her away.
"You have no idea what those words mean to me, Kat." he said, smiling a bit.
"I love you."

She didn't? Kat thought she did, the words she said probably meant as much to him as Ai's words meant to her. Kat was glad they would be together now, now she could just go push away other...rather, strange male lions away from her, be all proud she had someone that liked..er, loved her for her and not just the way she looked.
Meant a lot it did.
"I love you too," she said with a smile, purred softly and snuggled against him.
This was just perfect.
Literally.
