i play guitar, and i honestly dont see the point in saying one is better than the other. they each serve a different purpose in music, guitar adds a higher tuned, high treble sound and the lead.
bass adds the soul to a song, its the deep mellow sound that makes me love music so much.
so, my opinion is that they each are as good as eachother. they are just different.

I play both....someone once said to me "Bass just uses the 4 lowest strings of a guitar"...which I guess is kinda right....I agree though there's something different about bass!
What got me into bass? My boyfriend plays bass and I thought it was cool, also I'd been playing guitar for like 6/7 years and just figured it was time for a change.....Bass was the first thing I thought of...also I wanted to be able to play "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac, a song that is mainly bass....I can play it all now because I can play the drum and guitar sections too!

I've always loved the feel of the vibrations all through your body when the bass is REALLY loud! And besides, guitar players are a dime a dozen. Most guitarists think that bass isn't a big thing and if you can play guitar, then bass will be a snap, but it's really all in your technique... Playing bass just seems more natural to me than guitar..

nomel_lemon ooo! with guitar, you just hear it in your ears, but with bass, it flows through you and shakes you brain and soul! and the sound it gives off is so low and awsome. I dunno if i explained that well enough, but you can feel the vibration of the bass, unlike the guitar. Plus... bass is way sexy. I don't think I could have said it any better. 3nodding

you know what really pisses me off! todays music like green day, or 3 doors dowm, or etc.? theres no bass! theres absolutally no sound. you can see thier bassist but you cant hear him! and for that matter you can barley hear the guitar, its like all vocals! its no wonder why nobody apreciates the bass these days! (that is except for you guys)

Yep. Teh speakers on my computer offer no bass whatsoever. I mean, for crying out loud, I can barely hear the bass in Korn. And that's just downright blasphemy. XD
Off topic note with no relevancy whatsoever:
Yes, I've stopped using my size tag. It's too much of a pain in the a** to put in every post... <_<
