Isn't the new term for creationism "intelligent design." And they want it taught beside evolution in schools? I thought this debate died with the Scopes trial? Guess not.

Gelasius Isn't the new term for creationism "intelligent design." And they want it taught beside evolution in schools? I thought this debate died with the Scopes trial? Guess not. I think that they are defining Intelligent Design differently from Creationism so as not to appear too much like Christian Fundamentalists. To make it a more palatable subject matter for schools. Basicially it's simply the idea that life is too complex to have appeared on it's own, and therfor a creator must have been involved.

I think I'm confusing this with Assisted Evolution, which implies that it was God, not chance, that changed the genes.
The difference is that unlike a 10,000 year old world, we can't disprove it entirely.

The difference is that unlike a 10,000 year old world, we can't disprove it entirely. It's unscientific, violates Occam's razor, and is also totally meaningless. What is this God, unnecessary as it is, who fiddles with our genese? Is it necessarily our creator, is it necessarily morally good, is it necessarily the same individual who freed the Hebrews from the Egyptians? No, none of that is implicit. Intelligent design is worthless.

"Intelligent Design" is NOT intelligent.
After all this time to REMOVE religion from our school system, the religious fundamentalists want to try and put it back in?!

It comes with the premordial arguement, "if you saw a watch you would know someone made it. Same with life." Maybe evolution is being guided by God, but that concept doesn't belong in school. Science class is to teach established, proven, facts and thories. God is not a fact, and doesn't belong in school.

Actually, I'm a little vague on this subject so don't flame me if I'm wrong.
