So I was reading through the end-of-year gaming awards on various websites, as I tend to do in the weeks after New Years, and a thought occured to me: what about all of those odd little honors we mentally nominate games for as we look over them? 'Miscellaneous Gaming Honors of 2006' is where we recognize games for whatever dubious honor we can think of, and here's our place to pick the categories.
Here's what I need from you people: one or more category entries, each with five nominations for the award. When I get fifteen categories, I'll post a voting thread for y'all to choose the winners. Sound good? I thought so. smile
Here's mine:
Most Unwieldy Title
--Yggdra Union (GBA) Reason for nomination: How the hell do you pronounce 'Yggdra'? It looks like they just threw a bunch of letter magnets at a refridgerator and used whatever said letters spelled out.
--The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth 2: The Rise of the Witch-King (PC) Reason for nomination: Really. Long. Title. 'Nuff said.
--Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra (PS2) Reason for nomination: I had to scrutinize this one with all my might for about a minute before I had any idea how to pronounce it, and I speak a fair bit of German.
--.hack//G.U. vol. 1//Rebirth (PS2) Reason for nomination: Yet another RPG title that completely fails to roll off the tongue, trying to bring up this game in most circles will likely lead to blank stares and more than one accusation of 'making it up.'
--Atelier Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny (PS2) Reason for nomination: My God, RPGs are really good at screwing up names! The title seems random, and trying to pronounce 'Atelier' for the first time will lead to much embarassment. Plus, what exactly is an azoth?

"In Norse mythology, Yggdrasil (Old Norse Yggdrasill, IPA: ˈygˌdrasilː; the extra -l is a nominative case marker) is the "World Tree", a gigantic ash tree, thought to connect all the nine worlds of Norse cosmology. Sometimes it is called Mímameiðr or Lérað. According mythology, Ásgard, Álfheim and Vanaheim rest on the branches of Yggdrasil. The trunk is the world-axis piercing through the center of Miðgarðr (often called Midgard), around which Jötunheim is situated, and below which lies Niðavellir, also called Svartálfheim. Paine_Lovely128 CRUD!! what about...Final Fantasy III? If you believe that it is indeed a 'little RPG that could', then yes, that would work fine. You don't have to run these through me, just select five candidates and post them.
