I was talking with my girlfriend's parents the other day, ((which we often do have quite interesting conversations)), but we started talking of possible presidents and ex presidents. One such person that we mentioned was Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee. For those that haven't heard of him or anything related, this man was elected governor on his campaign of renovating roads and public property, and fixing a financial fiasco. ((All well and good.)) The only complaint at this time was his motion to force creationism ((God creating the earth, Adam and Eve were the first human's, etc)) into requirements for science towards graduation. I, myself, believe that if people want to learn creationism, then let there be a class, but DON'T force it on people who do not want to learn of it. ((Churches exist for a reason)) Yet inturn, science should not force the theory of the world being created through evolution on those believing in creationism.

During his 2nd term though, he messed up big time. One such thing was releasing and pardoning a rape convict, who had been imprisoned since 1990. Soon after the convict's release, he sexually assulted and murdered a Missouri woman.

When Katrina hit, and 70,000 victims were placed in Arkansas, he instituted that special rights be given to them, are as follows:

-Parks give them huge discounts (( 95% off entry))
-Waive all pet restrictions.
-Bumped reservations in favor of the victims.
This is all well and good, encouraged in fact. The last part though, is what gets at me.

-Pharmicist are allowed to dispenense medication in priority of the victims over Arkansas state residents. Also priority accesse was given to them as well.

That is kinda messed no? I think it should have been, priority of health over priority of area.

He is looking to be the next US president, running under the campaign of health. No, this such thing is not bad, but to have that be the basis of your campaign.

All in all, my opinion is not to have another possible screw up for a president. Of course I may just be harsh in my judgement and/or fail to see the brighter side of things.

What do you think?

My personal views on politics have faded over the past several years.

I was one of the Americans who supported our president blindly, seeing him as "Our Leader" and that he should be honored as such. Now, I'm far from someone who follows every conspiricy, nor do I really care about all the "Secrets" or "Cover-Ups". They're just not my thing I suppose.

What I have come to care about is the man's actions himself. I've grown rather sick of his blind-eye to the war, or the constant "conveinent" happenings that mask other events. I really used to respect the man for being the president, now I personally believe him, the Vice President, and most members of their Cabinet including Ms. Rice should be charged with some form of treason. I am in no way a radical suggesting assassination nor would I ever support such actions. I personally see them as horrible humans, wasting the lives of other humans.

Now, this man, Mike Huckabee. I, honestly, have never heard of him. I have no earthly idea who this man is or what he's done. Reviewing what you submitted doesn't add very much to his credentials in my eyes, especially those regarding the victims of Katrina.

Regardless of what they have suffered, they deserve no better treatment than another citizen of the United States. If California was to be hit by a monstrous earthquake and I were to lose my home, even be denied a response from the Federal Government for however long, I would not expect to be treated better than other individuals. The standard disaster aide and insurance yes, but certainly not any absurd Park Discounts or letting me hop around the law regarding pets. Least of all, should I recieve any certain priority medically over another person, least it is a dire situation. ((I am suffering from a severe gash and head trama while this other person has a bruised elbow.))

I personally wouldn't support this Mike Huckabee. A few reasons, but perhaps the most comedic being that I don't like the idea of someone who reminds me of Huckleberry Finn being in office. <.<;

((Pardon Spelling Errors. I use I.E. bitches, not Firefox.))

Essentially Huckabee is Bush but has ideas to just waste our time and even more money. Lord knows what he may do with other things.

He was essentially a pastor before govenor and was caught up in many debts and scandals.

I agree with you there. I never have followed much on politics...too troubling. >.<

From what I've seen though, I really do not like what the Bush Administration has done to the country...

Essentially in comparison between Huckabee and Bush in a family type manner, Bush would be a bigger brother and Huckabee the one who acts just like the big brother but changes them slightly and calls them his own.

((just trying to figure out how to simplify as much as i can))

Oh i understand what you're saying completley,However, I'd be unable to throw in 2 cents of my own because of my lack of knowledge ont he subject.
Another words The only retort i'd be able to deliver is that Bush looks a bit like a monkey... Isn't intelligent or informing as is the theme of this area of the forum.

Yes I hardly keep up with politics and presidential decrees and such. Its mostly opinionative anyway. But I really don't watch the news of speeches on TV or anything like that.

I'm in AP Government, so we've been discussing politics and the administration quite a bit. Contrary to most of the opinions here, I find it extremely important. After all, the executive branch is the largest branch of our government.

Perhaps I feel closer to this than most because I'm (more or less) the daugher of a contracting officer. I live in Germany and go to a federally funded high school on a military base, and let me tell you, even though it's technically a private school (Germans have to pay tons to enroll their children, because it's an American high school) it's in worse condition than any public school I've been to. We had about 13 grand to spend on school supplies this year, hardly enough for my school and about a third the size of the budget we had last year. I am surrounded daily by military families, and many of my friends have deployed parents. My Godbrother is curently deployed in Afganistan, and I pray for him every day.

Six years of an untaxed war... It has hit us hard, and our generation, that is, those in high school and college today, are the ones who are going to be paying for it. We will pay for the Bush Administration's lame decisions, who have left us with an ever-deepening debt.

Personally, I think that the only reason an attempt hasn't been made on our President's life is because Cheney is scarier. Not that I approve of such actions - that would only feed a cycle of hate.

As for Mike Huckabee.. I am sorry to say that I know nothing about the man, and since he isn't a media spotlight I don't think he has much of a chance. I really believe that it would be great if Clinton and Obama ran together, one as VP and one as President, but I think they're both too proud. They both want to be president.

I'm going to be voting this time, and I'm looking forward to it. biggrin
