It's a pretty silly rant. He really is just a bitter gaijin.

He just sounds bitter to me, the reasons he's given aren't even close to enough to turn me away from learning the language. Some of the aspects of the Japanese culture that he finds weird, e.g. showering before you take a bath, make logical sense to me, so I think it may just be a thing of opinion.

How could he know wether or not some old ladies are talking about beans or him if he doesn't speak Japanese? And the whole getting a job that pays you crap, they do that in America too, buddy. In fact, I'm pretty sure they do that everywhere, and in some places you are paid only a few cents an hour. What a crap essay.

Bah, that was a waste of time. I really don't think that's gonna get anyone not to learn Japanese if they already wanted to. Bleh.

I would hope it's sarcasm. Otherwise I'd ask 1] Why live there for 13 years then? And 2] If you feel that way, then don't get upset when all the Hispanics move to the US and don't bother to learn English and we gotta kiss up to them and translate for them.

Either he is quite bitter or he thinks his sarcasm is funny. Both ways it was a horrible read in my opinion. I can't believe he stayed there for 13 years and not learned any Japanese. That sounds unreal to me...
