As if on cue, when the vole was placed nearby, her stomach grumbled. She gave the other female a slightly embarrased glance. "Well... maybe a little.." she was on unsure territory here - rarely having had any offers to share since she was a pup. Helios certainly didn't think to do so.

Erin's glance followed Persephone's and she looked at her brother's prone, sleeping form. The big male sorted, snored loudly and rolled over so his back was to the pair now. "We did get split apart.." she said, not wanting to contradict him. She guessed it was a half-truth though she knew Helios would never have come looking for her unless he was really hungry and even then he'd wait until he had no other option. His pretence of happiness at her appearance was cleared up to her. He had feigned a caring attitude, she saw, to get into the heart of this quiet young female.

So he had slipped in the river, eh? No doubt he'd well taken advantage of that. Sympathy on top of manipulation. Her brother really was a b*****d. Not for the first time did Erin begin to feel a little angry towards the golden male. Her attention turned back to Persephone "Will your family not miss you?" she wondered aloud, thinking that Persephone was barely an adult by the looks of it.

Nodding her head, Persephon nudged the vole towards Erin. It flopped over unceremoniously in front of the small brown female. "Go ahead. You did all the work for them.."

As Erin asked about her family, Persephone cast her eyes down. "..They don't know I'm here.. they probably are worried. When Helios got hurt.. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't leave him, but I couldn't get a message to my pack to tell them.."

The thought that she had worried the rest of her pack had indeed been gnawing at the back of the albino's mind. But she just couldn't leave a wolf defenceless and vulnerable by himself. Surely the rest of her family would understand that, wouldn't they?

It was so odd being treated as something other than a servant. Despite pitying glances and the like from other wolves she had met on her travels with Helios, Erin had never been given any sort of true sympathy or empathy. She would have blushed a little if she could, unsure of this strange young female whose presence here she felt was partly her fault.

"I.. I could look after him now, if you wanted to go back to them." she said, quickly. She could not, yet, say outright she thought her scoundrel of a brother was lying but she could try and get the young female away, at least save her from the sly, mocking dismissal her brother would likely give when he woke up or at least sometimes soon.

Helios had been asleep a while now. All needs satiated he had felt he deserved the rest and, well, it wasn't like he had anything to do right this moment. He stirred now, though, rolling over with a grunt. His bladder was full and he felt the need to go outside. Forgetting himself he got to his feel and waddled out, barely noticing the females who sat off to one side.

Erin's eyes grew wide as she watched her brother, perfectly fine, get up and walk out. She couldn't even look at Persephone, wondering what the young female must be thinking. Erin was caught between a love for her brother despite his faults and wanting to help the young female who'd been so kind to her. She had known he was putting it on, known it! And yet done nothing. She was almost as much to blame as he was. She didn't know what to say...

Persephone considered this for a moment, clearly torn between not wanting to abandon Helios and wanting to let her family know that she was safe. Eventually, she came to a decision.

"Would you? I'll come back, of course - I just want to tell them that I'm alright.."

Just as she finished speaking, the large golden wolf rolled over and got up, without the slightest sign of the leg injury that had apparently been plaguing him for the last few days. As he walked out wordlessly, Persephone stared after him for a moment, confusion spreading across her face.

"..How.. his leg..?" she began, looking to Erin perplexedly.

Helios waddled back in, stretching lazily. It was only when he seen the looks on the female's that he realised his mistake. He was too tired to try to to even rescue this in his usual outrageously manipulative manner. He yawned and padded back to the warm spot he'd been sleeping in, thumping back down. "It's feeling much better now" he smiled, a hint of derision in his eyes. He'd had what he wanted, he didn't need to stay on her good side any more he supposed.

Persephone stared at Helios, comprehension beginning to dawn on her slowly. How long had he been 'feeling much better' for? A leg injury like that didn't heal so suddenly. What had she done?

Slowly, the albino female rose to her feet, still staring at the golden male. For a few moments, she seemed to be lost for words. Then, quietly, she found herself again.
"...I thought you needed help. I.. I thought you were genuine. ..How could you do that to me? I.. I have to go.."

Turning, the young wolf rushed out of the cave past Erin. She had made a terrible mistake, and now she just wanted to flee back to the safety of her pack and away from Helios' mocking expression.

Erin's heart sunk as the realisation dawned on the albino, her shame deepening that such a terrible thing had been perpetrated by her brother. She watched the young female run out before slowly turning to gaze at her brother. Her eyes were cold, her heart hardening. He had done this so often, when was she going to stop helping him? He lay there and his grin was evident even after seeing the hurt he had caused to Persephone.

Still, she could not leave him, still she believed he had a speck of goodness in him. And even then she walked over and passed food to him, turning away to sit in a corner by herself, brooding.

Persephone had certainly been an enjoyable conquest and it was even better that he didn't have to deal with the crying aftermath. His eyebrows raised at Erin's irritated look. How dare she judge him? It wasn't like he'd done anything wrong. She was probably jealous, he thought, sad that she was his sister and couldn't serve that part of him as she did all other aspects. That must be it, yes. He didn't let it bother him much - Erin's opinion really didn't mean a whole lot.

He spoke aloud though, proud of his achievement. "I managed to get some information out of her. I have a good idea where their den is, their number aren't as large as I thought..." his voice was dripping with smugness and self-satisfaction. He didn't see the icy glare from the back of the cave. In his mind, he began to plot.
