From rebel veins my life I drew,
In rebel arms I lay;
From rebel lips the lessons drew
That led me day by day.
And rocked to rest on rebel breast,
And nursed on rebel knee,
There woke and grew for weal or rue
The rebel heart in me.

A rebel heart, a rebel heart,
From taint of thralldom free;
God strengthen still through good or ill,
The rebel heart in me.

I've wandered east, I've wandered west,
Mid scenes and faces strange;
And passing years have in my breast
Worked many a wondrous change.
One hope of old still firm I hold,
And cold in death I'll be,
E'er sinks or quails or shrinks or fails,
The rebel heart in me.

-Lyrics from Rebel's Heart, an old folk song.

About Me

Name: You can call me FerretPrince, FP, Ferret, Ferry, Ferreh, Fer, Prince, Princey, Princeh, Ferraric, or Alaric. Or feel free to introduce a new name into the mix. I generally don’t mind so long as I know you’re talking to me.
Gender: -checks- Yep. Still male.
Age: Nineteen.
Likes: Kittens, cats, ferrets, writing, music, role playing, video games, computer games…
Dislikes: Spiders, bigots, intolerance, unoriginal idiots who try and role play with me, people who don’t put spaces after commas and periods…
Country: U.S.A. Land of the free? Pfft… yeah. Get back to me after I have my rights and then we’ll talk…

Let’s see… now what can I say about myself? Well, I’m from the west coast. California, in fact. Bay Area, in fact. That right there ought to tell you that I’m extremely tolerant. My views are simple: so long as you aren’t hurting anyone else (and if you are, it better be consensual between informed legal adults) then I don’t care what you’re doing. I’ve been a role player for several years and medieval fantasy is my absolute favorite genre, right up there with dark modern fantasy. I tend to be a little snarky and sarcastic, so don’t be too offended if I say something out of line; I was probably trying to make a joke and it went south.

Asariel's Personal Profile

User Image

Name: Asariel
Gender: Male
Age: Adolescent
Mate: N/A.
Home: Coming soon!
Physical description: He's changed a bit since he hatched; when he hatched, he was a vivid bright blue. Now his colors have dulled a bit into a light blue with a darker stripe down his spine; there's also a slash of yellow on his ribs. His wings and fins are still the same light purple as before, and his eyes are still bright green.
Personality: Asariel is very curious, although slightly less curious ever since he learned that some things have absolutely no respect for the superiority of the draconic race. Whenever he sees something new, he cannot help but poke at it until it either explodes or explains itself. He's also a very social little creature, who prefers to spend time with other hatchlings rather than being alone. If left alone too long, he sulks and gets depressed. That is, unless he gets distracted by something shiny or vaguely interesting or new. Just about everything falls into this category. Because of his highly energized personality, he's also a tad unpredictable and tends to launch himself into things before actually thinking things through. He's also a bit of an attention whore; he just loves being the center of attention and focus. He's more or less like a big puppy.
Subtle nuances tend to escape his notice, unless those nuances are as subtle as a flying brick, such as if someone breaks down crying. If he feels guilty about something, he's pretty easy to manipulate. He does not, however, like being told what to do. Proud, he hates the idea that the Ascended or Fallen are somehow 'better' than he is simply because they have their wings and he doesn't.
History: Well, he hatched. And grew into a youngling! How pretty!
Role Play Color: Role Play Color: MediumBlue
Received: January 5, 2007
Hatched: January 7, 2007
Previous Stages: Egg Hatchling Youngling

Friends, Family, and Foes {Asariel}
Name Relation Thoughts

Zera Friend You're my closest friend, I think; no matter what happens, I will always stand by your side, ready to attack anything that bothers you. You're always so brave and willing to face anything. And so smart!

Xran Friend I really like you because you're funny. :3 I always wonder what you are going to do next and you always surprise me.

Aaliyah Younger Sister You're growing up so fast, Aaliyah; it's hard to believe that you're a youngling already! I have trouble seeing you as such, even when you notice things that no one else does. You think too much. Far too much. You'll never experience life unless you get your nose out of books and start exploring a bit.

Malcolm's Personal Profile

Some died by the glenside
Some died amid strangers,
And wise man have told us
Their cause was a failure;
But they stood by dear Ireland
And never feared danger,
"Glory O, glory O,
To the Bold Fenian men!"

-From Bold Fenian Men, an old folk song...

Name: Malcolm Lansing
Gender: Male
Age: 23. {At Bonding} {Canon: 17}
Favored Weapon: Rapier
Physical Appearance: Mal, as he prefers to be called, is far from physically imposing. Being short and slender, most people doubt that he’s much of a threat. He doesn’t usually mind this since it usually works to his advantage, but there are times when it is annoying… he has dark wavy hair cut short, just a little above his earlobes. It’s almost black, but in the sunlight, it’s possible to realize that it’s just really, really dark brown. There is no mistaking his eyes for any other color than gray, however. In general, he prefers dark clothes, normally various shades of gray or brown. It’s easier to hide in those colors than any others. He looks after his appearance as carefully as he can since he likes looking at least presentable.
Personality: Upon first meeting, Mal usually seems very laid back and relaxed but, he is always watching and quietly observing everything. That information is filed away in his mind where he then tries to figure out how to make a situation come out in his favor. Quick, clever, and secretive, he’s smart enough to appear open enough so that people don’t think he has secrets. He has a distinct anti-authoritarian streak to him, which is exactly why he is taking up weapons. Above all other things, he prizes freedom, although his life comes pretty damn close.
His plans for battle and his own life are generally absurdly circuitous, making others wonder if even he knows what’s going on. The best reason one can provide for his… unique way of doing things is to keep his mind and hands busy. If given a chance, he often will fight for the underdog, not because he thinks that the underdog is any better (morally or any other sort of way) better than the overdog, but simply because the underdog is not the overdog. He doesn’t particularly care for the dragons, nor does he wish them any particular harm. However, he keeps his distance, on the basis that he likes his mind to be in his own control.
With his quick hands and charming demeanor, he is a pretty damn good thief, as well as an excellent fighter, even though his expertise is limited to only a small number of weapons. He can't use a bow and arrow worth a damn; crossbows are more his style.
He does not like staying in one place for very long, probably because of the enemies he makes. He tends to collect them, almost like the way that someone collects stamps. He doesn’t mind. Enemies, he believes, keep the world just a bit more interesting. Not to mention, full of pride as he is, he can never resist a good challenge. Enemies provide that far more often than friends do.
His extreme pride, however, also tends to lead him into conflicts that he cannot even hope to win. His competitive spirit can also be used against him, by tricking him into a losing situation. With his small frame, he isn’t particularly strong and can easily be bested in a test of strength. If robbed of his movement, he quickly loses his edge in battle.
Large sums of money can also buy his loyalty, if only for a small period of time.
History: Raised in the Borderlands, Malcolm Lansing is no stranger to strife or war. He considers them both to be staples in his life and has put both of them to good use in order to profit. His profit, that is. Raised in the streets---and, he often claims, by the streets as well---young Mal quickly learned how to turn things to his own advantage. He had to, in order to avoid being beaten up by larger boys, which was the regular recreation if nothing interesting presented itself. This didn’t happen often, since Mal was usually damned good at figuring out what other people are thinking. By no means psychic, he is simply good at reading people and guessing what they are thinking. With an extreme dedication to freedom, Mal is noted for being anti-authoritarian.
This trait is exactly what led him to his first war when he was seventeen. It is unknown which countries fought. All that is known is that one country---a small one---fought for independence against a much larger and better-funded one. The result was predictable, with a crushing defeat for the freedom-fighters. Mal dislikes talking about the war, even though he considers that it made him what he is today. At times, he isn’t even sure if he likes what he is today. More than anything else, he regrets his own lack of formal education. He picked up several skills while in the war, including basic medical techniques, cooking, scrounging, fighting, tracking, and, most of all, general survival.
These days, he puts that last skill to excellent use, doing whatever he can to ensure his own continued survival and freedom. He has no strong feeling for the dragons or against them, but prefers to stay as far away from them as possible for the safety of his own mind.

Friends, Family, and Foes {Malcolm}
Name Relation Thoughts

Remiel Unsure? ... I don't know whether to call you friend or foe or even acquaintance. We met briefly at the end of the war, while I was in prison. You had orders not to speak to me. You went against them anyway, which makes me a little curious, I suppose. I wonder about your motivations... I also wonder why the Hell you spent several sentences in your journal describing my eyes. No offense, but that's a little scary.

Djibril Acquaintance You're an interesting woman, I'll give you that, and not half bad for a mage. Still think you're insane for taking care of a dragon egg, but everyone's a little insane anyway.
