Walkthrough all the way. I don't really want to use cheats, but if I'm having a ton of trouble on a game and have done everything I consider to be humanly possible to get past that area - I'll look it up out of sheer desperation to move forwards.
Either that or when I've beaten the game and go bac kto get 100% of items or quests.

I used a cheat on a game once because I was stuck on this one part, and I couldn't get past it. So everytime someone was watching me, or even if I was alone, when I saw the words "cheat in use" Or "cheat activated" I felt embarassed and ashamed.
