On the Eternal Darkness: I wanted something dark, but tried to stray away from the shadow. The Darkness doesn't move or otherwise have a life of it's own; it's more like the night sky on a starless night. The type of blackness that, after so long of looking at it, may start to make a person feel like they're losing their mind or being crushed. The type that's almost touchable, because it's got so much presence.

On the Inverted Rainbow: I would LOVE the essence to be used in that fashion, where the color is lost. That's why I preferred the hair to be white, and maybe the eyes to be without color as well...full white eyes with mere black pupils for slits, or the ilk. Maybe reversed, since it's inverted, so black sclera with white pupils...as long as that's not treading on the lovely Nue! ^.^;;

I think Malakai is the one I'm most excited about. I would love to bring Kai to life, and see how Kai deals with what s/he is. :3

The essence I'm trying to think of for my Unnamed female will be something earth-toned. I'm trying to figure something out with trees, maybe, something to harmonize the soul. I know it's strange to have the soul without an essence, but I HAD an idea and I forgot it, and that's all I remembered. >.>; Strange, I know.

Niiice looking concepts you got here~ can I make a suggestion for Malakai?

Instead of an "inverted rainbow", what about some sort of substance that drains all color from its surroundings? There's a lot of ways you can go with something like that.

I wanted to keep it to something I knew about. That way, I could create different situations and reactions that are based on the mythos rather than trying to pull something out of my posterior. X3 I think Hui would have been gorgeous! And I'm so, so sorry, I had not previously seen your thread. *bows* Thank you so much. I like to pay homage to the mystic and surreal, with a healthy mix of the two in my characters. I think there's a lot of growth to be had in things that have a past or have one that is at least eluded too. Maybe I over do it, but I really appreciate the compliments. heart

I tried to keep the idea of that which exists that shouldn't, but now that you mention it, it DOES seem like those essences listed are strictly things that shouldn't be bottled. O: Thank you for pointing that out, I will certainly take that into consideration!

I LOVE the Inverted Eclipse idea! That would work so well with Malakai, meshing with his color blindness and generally disarrayed attitude. I would like to use it for him (with credits to you) if that's okay!

I'm glad you like Ally. She was the most difficult for me to put forth, I think, because she does border a lot on mythos and the ideas from it rather than something concrete and tangible. Which reminds me, I have a sketch to put up of her. XD

Thank you, Revanica! While the more mythological aspects are readily apparent, some of them I tried to keep more base and simple. Sometimes that can be more fantastic than fantasy. I've also been trying to keep souls in mind that my OC would realistically come across or otherwise capture, be it on purpose or accident.
