この現象について、皆どう思う? 聞いた事あるんでしょ?
Kono genshou ni tsuite, minna dou omou? Kiitakoto arundesho?

Regarding this phenomenon, what does everyone think about it? You've heard of it right?

Personally, I'm amazed that things could spread so fast...though I probably shouldn't be considering how much info has been spread around since the creation of the internet.

uhh~ if you mean a situation/information spreading rapidly to thousands of people, etc...
Then yea, many things are possible with the internet.

Yeah, I've heard of it! I was actually going to watch a bit of it today but I decided against it. It doesn't really seem to be my style of dorama but since it's so popular I may give it chance.

For those who don't know, this Wikipedia entry explains how the whole thing got started.

The basic nuts and bolts of it, is a typical otaku(shy, withdrawn, only able to express feelings online, etc.) was on a train one day, when some drunk guy stormed onto the car, and began harassing all the women on board. He decided to do something, and stood up to him, keeping him occupied until the conductor came, to take care of him. The women were all thankful for his efforts, but one in particular was deeply touched by his act, and asked if they could exchange addresses. He came to 2ch time and again for advice on what to do about the woman, how to treat her, what to do on their dates, and so on. Eventually, they confessed their love for each other, and this was cause for a mass celebration among the forums. Due to being a large influence on the Japanese culture, the story spread countrywide, and spawned anime, manga, books, and even a movie.

Yeah, it seems to be a really big hit. I watched most of it, but I think I fell asleep (I'd been walking around Kyoto all day and it was like 2 am).

There's a Korean movie (we were watching it in class) that's something like it, too, at least by way of basic plot. I don't remember what it was called, though, and it was in Korean (subbed in Japanese, but I'm not that fast and I can't read that many kanji), plus we didn't finish it before winter break.

I remember watching DenshaOtoko on my local channel. But it felt like some parts of it was cut out. Maybe I should rent it someday on tape. But anyway it was a good show. I like how it portrays and expresses the Otaku's daily life.

heart I love Densha Otoko. It is the only Japanese drama where the girl or guy doesn't go through a whole bunch of mess. Like Hot Gimmick, or Confidential Confessions. It is a very innocent and normal man who meets a woman and begins a relationship with the help of internet friends. The people on the internet that give the guy advice are hilarious.
